Mike McEnearney from Sydney restaurant No.1 Bent Street by Mike has some great tips for Sydney foodies!

No 1 Bent Street

What restaurant is on your must-visit list this year?

Ormeggio The Spit in my mind is one of the best restaurants in Australia. Besides the impeccable food of Alessandro Pavoni, the view is not bad either.

What is your 'old favourite' restaurant that you often revisit?

SEFA kitchen in Bondi

What do you love about this restaurant?

SEFA kitchen is my local, it’s really fresh and exciting Middle Eastern food which I absolutely love.

Favourite dish at this restaurant?

The slow cooked lamb with roast peppers with house made pickles are my 3 young boys favourites on the menu. I really like the onglet steak with muhammar, crispy sweet potato and anchovy baby cos.

What dish should diners try at No.1 Bent Street during The Fork’s Half Price Dining festival?

The most famous item on our menu is our sourdough bread, however I love the chicken liver pate which has become a classic dish that we make using the livers from our spit roast chicken. I also love serving my grandmothers rice pudding recipe with jam and honeycomb.

Insider Tip for dining at No.1 Bent St

It’s always good to come to No.1 Bent Street with at least one other person so that you can share about 5 things from the menu. My favourite seats are tables 10 & 11 which are near the kitchen so you can watch the kitchen team cook your food over the charcoal grill and in the wood fired oven.

Try our White by Mike made by David Lowe of Mudgee and Red by Mike made by Rose Kentish of Mclaren Vale wines both designed to accompany my style of cooking.

Exclusive to TheFork – No.1 Bent Street will be offering Half Price Dining - 50% Off Food when you book at specially marked times. Don’t miss out, limited availability.
