Blue Oasis

Sydney CBD

Lana dined on Tue, 6th Aug 2019 (6)

We tried this restaurant on The Fork 50% off promo, otherwise I'd say it's a bit overpriced for what it is. It's an interesting and unique concept, combining locally sourced ingredients from around NSW to create tapas style dishes, so expect small portions - you'd need to order a few different dishes and share. Dessert was limited - we ordered chocolate ravioli which was a bit odd, it didn't know whether it wanted to be a dessert or savoury pasta dish. I appreciate the innovation and trying to be different, but this dish just doesn't work. Service was warm and friendly and it's a lovely space on the Lime St Promenade.

Madame Shanghai

Lana dined on Thu, 1st Aug 2019 (8)

Beautifully designed restaurant with lovely terrace overlooking the world go by on College Street and Hyde Park. The dumplings were great, but the Asian greens were overpowered by butter and some strong citrusy sauce, which I was told was a butter and wine reduction. Personally, we were not a fan of this dish and found it too heavy - a simple oyster or sauce sauce would've suited this dish better. The citrusy glaze on the Kung Pao chicken was also a bit too intense.

The Boathouse on Blackwattle Bay

Lana dined on Wed, 24th Jul 2019 (9)

Gorgeous restaurant with stunning water views, an incredible selection of oysters and other seafood dishes, and attentive service

Solander Dining and Bar

Sydney CBD

Lana dined on Wed, 3rd Jul 2019 (9)

Great food, really fresh and wholesome with a focus on seasonal, local produce. Also loved the creative and innovative cocktail offerings and gorgeous decor.

The Darlo Country Club

Lana dined on Sat, 19th Jan 2019 (8)

Wanted to try this place for a while so when The Fork 50% off promo popped up, I couldn't resist! With the discount, it was definitely great value, but other than that, I do think the usual pricing is quite high for Tex-Mex type food. Having said that, the sizzling beef and prawn fajitas were absolutely delicious. Its also a great setting with a very fun vibe - we especially enjoyed the photo booth idea, nice idea for a little take home souvenir!

Lana dined on Tue, 15th Jan 2019 (9)

Mekong has been one of my favourite restaurants for quite some time now, they really have the most outstanding and unique Asian fusion cuisine. Generous portions make dishes ideal for sharing. The signature red duck curry is an absolute winner. It pairs perfectly with a side of the grilled cabbage, which unfortunately on this visit was a little underdone.

Cruise Bar

Circular Quay

Lana dined on Sun, 13th Jan 2019 (9)

Such a great spot! Fun, lively atmosphere and good service. Food was even better than expected. Look forward to visiting again, for sure.

The Botanica Vaucluse

Lana dined on Sun, 13th Jan 2019 (9)

From the beautiful botanical-inspired wall art to the plush pink chairs, there's no denying this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. The food is delicious, fresh and beautifully presented, but for those prices the portions could be more generous.

El Camino Cantina Manly Wharf

Lana dined on Sun, 25th Nov 2018 (9)

Such a fun and vibrant place, great to go with mates and enjoy the ambience over a few margaritas and tacos. We loved the ceviche, fish tacos and jalapeno poppers, whereas the slow cooked beef taco and cajun chicken taco could've been better as both were quite tough, dry and chewy.

Bambini Trust Restaurant & Wine Room

Sydney CBD

Lana dined on Mon, 19th Nov 2018 (9)

Had an hour to kill before work so treated myself to a nice breakfast here. I enjoyed the Alaskan crab omelette which was just delicious. Service is warm and attentive and the venue is classy with a European city feel to it.

Ripples at Chowder Bay

Lana dined on Sun, 4th Nov 2018 (9)

Beautifully prepared fresh seafood served in a beautiful and unique setting.

The Boathouse on Blackwattle Bay

Lana dined on Tue, 25th Sep 2018 (10)

Delicious range of seafood, especially enjoyed the oyster selection. Lovely location and excellent service - attentive and knowledgeable.

Vela Dining

Lana dined on Sat, 17th Mar 2018 (10)

This place is such a wonderful little hidden gem. It has a beautiful sprawling deck right over the water and a great menu with plenty of variety. We came here for brunch - the food was wonderful and the service was warm and welcoming. Will definitely visit again.

Manly Pavilion

Lana dined on Sat, 10th Mar 2018 (9)

Nice food, plenty of variety to choose from, efficient and attentive service, and a beautiful setting.

Lana dined on Sun, 15th Oct 2017 (9)

Delicious food, absolutely loved the prawns and mussels. Great vermouth list as well.

Lana dined on Mon, 31st Jul 2017 (10)

This is one my all-time favourite restaurants in Sydney and never fails to impress, it is just consistently good time after time. I can't recommend it highly enough - the dishes are truly unique and bursting with flavour. The red duck curry is the best I've ever tried and a must-have. Service is exceptional - warm and friendly, intuitive and knowledgeable. Its always such an immense pleasure to dine at Mekong, love it :-)

Lana dined on Sun, 9th Jul 2017 (10)

Delicious food and absolutely love the range of vermouth

Lana dined on Tue, 16th May 2017 (10)

Delicious food, still the best red duck curry I've had in this city, lovely staff and beautiful setting.

Deckhouse Woolwich

Lana dined on Sat, 6th May 2017 (9)

Great place for alfresco dining, food was delicious, coffee was great, service was welcoming and the setting and views across the water were beautiful - an excellent place to start the weekend.

Riley St Garage

Lana dined on Sat, 22nd Apr 2017 (8)

Had a great time here, its a beautiful restaurant with great food and service - we felt really looked after.

Percy's Bar & Kitchen

Lana dined on Fri, 14th Apr 2017 (5)

Fun, lively bar with great wine list. Food was pretty average - we ordered the Portuguese chicken burgers which were over-done and quite tough and chewy. People sitting next to us ordered a range of share platers which looked far more appealing. Service could be a bit better - we were sat down without menus and then forgotten about. Sat there for 20min before getting up to get a menu and ask for some for water.

Double Bay

Lana dined on Tue, 17th Jan 2017 (7)

We came on the Dimmi 50% off promotion, otherwise spend per person would have been $100-$110 per person. Its a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by, very European alfresco. The food was delicious although the portions of the mains were a little small. We also found the service a little slow, with a long wait between dishes.

The Riverview Hotel

Lana dined on Mon, 16th Jan 2017 (7)

We went on the Dimmi 50% promotion, otherwise we would have spent $60-$70 per person for two mains, two sides and one glass of wine. The service was great - friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. There was a limited "summer menu". Didn't feel the menu was very summery with items such as braised ox tail on there, and there were no fresh salads on there, which I feel let it down. Mains are kept very simple so as to encourage you to add sides. We went for the trout with a side of broccoli and truffle fries - it was nicely prepared and delicious.

Sydney CBD

Lana dined on Thu, 12th Jan 2017 (6)

We were here for the 50% Dimmi offer, otherwise we would have spent in the $60-$70 category per person, for 3 entrees and a cocktail, each. I was a huge fan of the old Ananas in The Rocks and I feel this has take a significant step down. The service was quite slow, it took a while for someone to come over and look after us once we were initially seated, and food took a while longer as well, but the staff were very friendly and attentive once with us. Food was delicious, but it was disappointing to see personal old favourites no longer on the menu.

Little Jean

Double Bay

Lana dined on Tue, 3rd Jan 2017 (6)

A lovely place to sit and enjoy a nice meal in Double Bay. I ordered the heirloom tomato salad with a whole baked trout. It was delicious but definitely a meal best shared by two as the portion size was quite generous. The only disappointment was they had a different and significantly smaller menu than the one they feature on their website, although I was told by a staff member this would be updated as soon as possible.

Rabbit Hole Bar & Dining

Lana dined on Tue, 15th Nov 2016 (6)

The chicken wings were delicious, but the hand-cut fries with aioli and truffle were too heavy with an oily deep-fried batter, and it was difficult to taste the truffle. The menu also needs to be more balanced by offering a small side of fresh greens - they currently only have a salami or chicken salad as a main, but when we requested a small side salad the staff were very kind and accommodated for this. Its a nice place for an after-work drink, but I do find it quite pricey for cocktails, which are $20.

Coconut Grove Contemporary Coastal Cuisine

Harris Park

Lana dined on Sun, 13th Nov 2016 (10)

After reading a number of great reviews, I had been wanting to try this place for a while, and it definitely lived up to expectations. The menu is vast and varied with an exotic Goan and Tandoor cuisine - the dishes are exciting and unique and it was difficult to decide what we wanted so we over-ordered! But it was well worth it to be able to try a range of different curries and flavours. The stand outs were the Gobi Manchurian (battered cauliflower, fried and sauteed in garlic, chillies and sweet chilli sauce - a definite crowd-pleaser), Butter Chicken (can't go wrong with this classic), and Pineapple Curry - a truly unique dish, but very rich, so best for sharing. Try to leave room for dessert if you can - the Mango Kulfi is absolutely divine, you won't regret it. The service was warm, welcoming and attentive. This is an amazing hidden gem of a restaurant that goes to prove not all of Sydney's best restaurants are always in the city, and well worth venturing out of your usual bubble for. Will be back for sure.

The Butler Potts Point

Potts Point

Lana dined on Sat, 1st Oct 2016 (7)

I had a much better experience when I came to The Butler the first few times, earlier in the year. Was very disappointed to hear the previous chef had left, hence the changes to the menu. The delicious prawn quinoa gumbo is gone, which is an absolute shame, and the "large" plates are too expensive for what they are - we ordered the chicken which was tiny, for $32. While The Butler is still a beautiful place, I feel that the menu has gone downhill unfortunately.

Lana dined on Mon, 26th Sep 2016 (10)

They're still working on their beverage offering due to liquor licensing procedures, but expect to have a wider variety of alcoholic beverages, including cocktails (which I'm especially looking forward to), very soon. Food was an absolute knock-out as usual - exotic, full and rich flavours, but beautifully balanced. You can't go past "A Duck at Sunrise", quite possibly the best red duck curry in the whole city. Squid ink dumplings in broth are delicate and as visually exquisite as they are delicious. The crispy anchovy starter was sensational as well - try it even if you're not a usual anchovy lover, you won't be disappointed. Excellent service - attentive, friendly and knowledgable. Truly one of Sydney's best restaurants.

Missy French

Potts Point

Lana dined on Tue, 13th Sep 2016 (10)

Came here to celebrate my mum's birthday and could not have chosen a better spot. Incredible food - every dish was perfect. Wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable staff who were very sweet and accommodating, and its an elegant, beautiful restaurant with lovely, relaxed atmosphere. I truly can't fault a single thing, this place is a true gem and I can't wait to visit again :-)

Cafe Del Mar

Darling Harbour

Lana dined on Wed, 17th Aug 2016 (9)

We spent $30-$40 pp thanks to the Dimmi half price dining promotion, otherwise it would have been $70-$80. We ordered the roast harissa chicken to share between 3 of us, as well 3 sides (crispy brussel sprouts, roast potatoes and garden salad - all of which were delicious) a bottle of wine and 2 desserts (chocolate mousse cake - a little too decadent, and panacotta - the definite winner, silky smooth with a hint of honey and topped with spiced quince). The food was absolutely delicious and the restaurant is stunning. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something upmarket and of high quality.

Lana dined on Sat, 9th Jul 2016 (10)

This is absolutely one of Sydney's best new restaurants. The red duck curry "Duck at Sunrise" is just incredible, a definite must-have.

El Camino Cantina

The Rocks

Lana dined on Thu, 7th Jul 2016 (7)

Food was over-priced for what it was, I wasn't that impressed with the quality. I'd recommend going for the fun and quirky ambience and margaritas over the food.

The Bald Viet Balmain

Lana dined on Sun, 5th Jun 2016 (9)

Delicious food and great service. The crispy chicken Pho was a definite stand out.

The Exchange Hotel Balmain

Lana dined on Wed, 13th Apr 2016 (8)

The space is absolutely gorgeous, and so beautifully furnished, with a very luxury vintage style. The balcony is great to sit on and enjoy a meal. Service was friendly and meals were good, albeit a bit pricey for "pub food" - but then again, it is Balmain. Will visit again as I live and work close by.

Blue Fish

Darling Harbour

Lana dined on Wed, 30th Mar 2016 (6)

Lovely place to sit and enjoy a nice seafood meal, however, the service could have been better and more attentive.

The Butler Potts Point

Potts Point

Lana dined on Wed, 23rd Mar 2016 (10)

This restaurant is absolutely stunning. I celebrated my birthday here and we went for the banquet menu, which was incredible value at $55 pp and offered a range of delicious dishes across the menu. Beautiful outdoor seating, city views and great cocktails - highly recommend!

Cafe Del Mar

Darling Harbour

Lana dined on Mon, 29th Feb 2016 (9)

Really enjoyed it and will be back again, just a shame to see the beautiful outdoor terrace so under-utilised.
