RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Wed, 17th Apr 2019 (7)

I want to love RST as it is local and we go there frequently BUT $5 per oyster, $10 per salad and expensive fish for what you get is making it less attractive - sorry. The opinion of the people coming in on vouchers (lots of them!) would be interesting.

NGV Garden Restaurant

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Sun, 7th Apr 2019 (9)

A lovely spot to take a break from the galleries - especially eating outside on a sunny day. Food is good but wine list is expensive.

Seamstress Restaurant

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Tue, 19th Mar 2019 (9)

Delicious food last night - scallops ceviche, barramundi and soft shell crab and the pumpkin custard and coffee mousse desserts were yummy too. The brussels sprouts were ok - I have enjoyed them previously but last night's did not agree with me. And there is interesting cocktail and wine list too.

Red Spice Road

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Fri, 15th Mar 2019 (10)

The express lunch was great - 5 courses shared is ample for lunch and $35 a reasonable price. Luke kept an eye on us and allowed my friend and I to linger over our long catch up. I will certainly return based on today's experience - thanks, Luke!

Sud Food & Wine

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Tue, 29th Jan 2019 (9)

The new menu is good and the wait staff well informed on the wines and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Station Hotel

Footscray

Annette dined on Thu, 3rd Jan 2019 (8)

Delicious oysters and steak tartare. Interesting wine list. Steak was pretty good too but it was VERY noisy with a large family group nearby which made conversation difficult. However, we will probably return as the food was good.

Ezard @ Levantine Hill

Coldstream

Annette dined on Sat, 8th Dec 2018 (8)

I would recommend Ezard as an indulgent lunch place on Yarra Valley wineries day. The food is good, but expensive, as are the Levantine Hill wines. The service was excellent (we had a very attentive waitress), but our experience was marred by a very noisy group in the barrel behind us.

Sake Restaurant & Bar Flinders Lane

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Mon, 8th Oct 2018 (9)

Sake has good food but it is not cheap so the 50% off food Dimmi offer made it attractive as a dinner option. Our group enjoyed dishes from across the menu - kingfish, oysters, salmon sashimi, popcorn shrimp, eggplant, toothfish, tartare, corn. The wine list is expensive but the cocktails are interesting. Well worth a visit, but look out for Dimmi specials!

Nik@Nicholson

Carlton North

Annette dined on Sun, 7th Oct 2018 (8)

The 50% off food offer made this a very attractive and good value lunch time destination for the family. The service is attentive and the food enjoyable (we ordered from across the menu sampling dips, salad, pizza, pasta, chicken, steak and the kid's menu). The wine list is reasonably priced too. We would happily return.

RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Tue, 2nd Oct 2018 (9)

You know you are in a neighbourhood gem when you receive a warm welcome and your usual order is remembered! Lovely fresh fish, oysters and crabs!

Chloe's

Kent Town

Annette dined on Tue, 18th Sep 2018 (10)

What a wonderful surprise! Delicious modern Australian food, fantastic wine list, attentive service and an elegant atmosphere. Chloe's is a hidden treasure that is well worth visiting! We loved our evening there.

Ocha

Hawthorn

Annette dined on Sun, 2nd Sep 2018 (8)

We went to a special Father's Day dinner @ $75 each. The special dinner was good and served very quickly (perhaps because there were so many family groups) - it was not a leisurely dinner! As it was Sunday there was a surcharge which I had no problems with but it would have been good if it was advertised in advance and then there was a credit card surcharge that also was not announced or mentioned (the bill came in an AMEX folder so I used my AMEX card, and it cost me). Up until this point we enjoyed our night.

Blue Fish

Darling Harbour

Annette dined on Fri, 31st Aug 2018 (6)

The scallops were very tender but expensive. The lemon sole sits on a huge pile of chips - that’s it! Cyren is much better on views, atmosphere and value.

Sorenzo contemporary Japanese Dining

Sydney CBD

Annette dined on Tue, 28th Aug 2018 (9)

Wonderful views of Darling Harbour and quiet atmosphere. We enjoyed the panko oysters, soft shell crab, scallops and tempura.

Mures Upper Deck

Hobart

Annette dined on Thu, 23rd Aug 2018 (8)

Mure's is great for fresh fish and seafood, but it comes at a price. On a cold winter night this was a cosy spot and we enjoyed the oysters but the lobster was very overpriced.

Hearth Pizza & Small Plates

Battery Point

Annette dined on Fri, 17th Aug 2018 (8)

An enjoyable meal but we were 2 of only 8 in the restaurant on a Friday night. Not a good sign. The prawn pizza was very good.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Mon, 13th Aug 2018 (8)

Last night's chicken was flavoursome and filling (on lentils, wrapped in prosciutto and filled with cheese, accompanied by asparagus) and my partner's beef cheeks were as good as always. Well done!

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Mon, 9th Jul 2018 (8)

Last night we almost had the place to ourselves - we dined in the gap between Gloria starting and Gloria finishing - and it was an odd feeling to find Script so quiet. We enjoyed our steak and beef cheeks and will be back before a future performance.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Wed, 20th Jun 2018 (8)

The steak and beef cheeks were great as were the panna cotta and crema catalana. The buffalo mozzarella we ordered remains a mystery as it did not arrive which was disappointing. We come here regularly and it is the first time we have not had an order delivered.

The Stonemill 347

Brunswick East

Annette dined on Sun, 17th Jun 2018 (8)

On a cold and wet Sunday lunchtime our family group was the only table for most of the time (another family arrived later). We received a warm welcome and the service was fine. We enjoyed the share platters of meats and cheeses and the authenticity of serving the gnocchi in frying pans. The pizza crusts were great too and seemed to differ depending on the topping. We would certainly recommend Stonemill 347 and would happily return.

L'Osteria

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Tue, 29th May 2018 (8)

We have driven past L'Osteria for years but never stopped until last night. The signature gnocchi with gorgonzola and pears is great, and the baked fish with seafood sauce is good too. Pleasant taverna atmosphere and easy parking nearby. We will be back!

Mr Hobson

Port Melbourne

Annette dined on Sun, 6th May 2018 (9)

A great place for lunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon in autumn. The antipasto platter was good and so were the oysters and scallops, but the two lamb cigars were much more pastry than anything else which was disappointing. Good wine list and a range of main courses - we enjoyed the two fish dishes.

RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Fri, 27th Apr 2018 (8)

Haven't been for a few months, but not much has changed. A few more salads, but our favourite tomato and bocconcini one has gone which is sad, and the beetroot and goat's cheese one is more rocket than beetroot and goat's cheese. But the oysters are as good as ever, and the fish moist and tasty. A good reliable local gem.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Thu, 19th Apr 2018 (8)

Attentive service until it got too busy. Enjoyable chicken and beef cheeks.

Azuma

Sydney CBD

Annette dined on Fri, 9th Feb 2018 (9)

Nice food, good service and popular with all types - families, couples, business groups. Would happily return to try other dishes.

The Salopian Inn

Mclaren Vale

Annette dined on Sat, 23rd Dec 2017 (10)

Yummy duck for sharing is highly recommended and the prawn dumplings are delicious!

Sud Food & Wine

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Mon, 18th Dec 2017 (9)

Everyone enjoyed their food - especially the red emperor! It was a bit noisy with the birthday group but otherwise as good as usual!

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 21st Nov 2017 (10)

Last night I was blown away by my medium rare steak - it was perfectly cooked. My partner also enjoyed the gnocchi. It was a great pre-theatre dinner, thank you.

RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Fri, 27th Oct 2017 (8)

We come here often as my partner loves the oysters and soft shell crabs, but I am getting disappointed in the quantity and price of the fish staples - price is going up and quantity is coming down. But it continues to be busy!

d'Arry's Verandah

Mclaren Vale

Annette dined on Mon, 16th Oct 2017 (8)

A great lunch spot. The tuna, scallops and tartare were great but the signature bisque was a disappointment both in price and quantity.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Thu, 5th Oct 2017 (9)

A great place for pre-theatre dinner - and remember to book as once again the house full sign was up when we arrived.

Sud Food & Wine

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Tue, 19th Sep 2017 (9)

A most enjoyable dinner - grappa cured salmon was great as was the special rabbit trio. Attentive service and great atmosphere. We missed Signore Moustache!

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Wed, 13th Sep 2017 (9)

Great steak (which came medium rare as ordered) and the beef cheek melted in your mouth. Well done!

RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Fri, 25th Aug 2017 (9)

Great scallops, soft shell crab and oysters, as usual! Also enjoyed the red emperor and tomato, onion and bocconcini salad. It is great to keep coming back to a place where they know what wine and food you are likely to order - definitely a local gem!

Miyako Japanese Cuisine & Teppanyaki

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 11th Jul 2017 (9)

A great spot for pre-theatre dinner and views of the Yarra and city. Lovely fresh oysters and sashimi, and melt in the mouth black cod. Tried the lamb (shank) akidashi miso - interesting but a bit Western.

Mr Hobson

Port Melbourne

Annette dined on Mon, 10th Jul 2017 (9)

A great spot for a weekday lunch - easy parking, lovely views of Melbourne ports, well presented delicious mains and wonderful desserts!

Ocha

Hawthorn

Annette dined on Thu, 6th Jul 2017 (9)

The $25 lunch special is excellent - just the right amount of food and a good range of choices.

RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Thu, 29th Jun 2017 (8)

We are becoming regulars here as it is a local gem. The oysters are always fresh as is the fish. No John Dory last night though, but the King George Whiting was fine.

Sud Food & Wine

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Tue, 20th Jun 2017 (10)

We always enjoy going to Sud, and last night was no exception. The buffalo mozzarella with beetroot and hazelnuts was a delicious combination, as was the monkfish wrapped in pancetta with cauliflower puree. The wine list is extensive and the whole experience as good as ever. We will be back!

Criniti's Carlton Melbourne

Carlton

Annette dined on Sat, 17th Jun 2017 (4)

Given the popularity of this place I know one poor review will not make a difference but... We had eaten here before and not been impressed, but it was convenient to return last night and I wish we hadn't. The food is expensive and salty, the service is weird (our wine did not arrive until after I had finished my main course but they rush to take dishes away) and it is very noisy. I will think hard before a third visit.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 6th Jun 2017 (8)

Good wine choices, fast service, frequently changing menu. Last night the chicken was good but the gnocchi did not quite come together - my partner said it tasty gritty.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 18th Apr 2017 (9)

The Tuesday after Easter menu was limited by some favourites not being available - burrata and semifreddo, plus the sangiovese, in particular - but what was on offer was as good as usual.

Pomodoro Sardo Melbourne

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Mon, 17th Apr 2017 (9)

Our family group enjoyed everything we ordered - the meat platter and burrata were great starters. The Sarda pizza was thin and yummy and the malloreddus delicious. The service was good - very attentive on water and friendly too. We will certainly be back!

Miyako Japanese Cuisine & Teppanyaki

Southbank

Annette dined on Thu, 13th Apr 2017 (10)

We have not been here for a while and we were impressed by the quality of the food and its presentation - oysters, sashimi, soft shell crab and black cod were all great. We will definitely return - this is so much better than the other Japanese restaurants in the Southbank area on all measures.

Bottega

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Tue, 11th Apr 2017 (8)

This is a great place for a pre-theatre dinner and the service is great to ensure you get out the door in time. The pre-theatre menu is good too. The rest of my group were happy with their choices (duck, fettucine, heirloom tomatoes and burata, chorizo and calamari, bresaola), however I was very disappointed with the "Porchetta stuffed with pancetta and thyme, slow-cooked pork and ham croquette, butternut pumpkin" as the two slices of porchetta had been fried and were quite fatty in themselves. I was expecting a normal moist slice or two of roast pork, not to have everything fried apart from the butternut puree. If I had known that it was going to be so fatty and fried I would have ordered something else.

Sake Restaurant & Bar Hamer Hall

Melbourne

Annette dined on Fri, 7th Apr 2017 (7)

This is expensive Japanese food, and I think other places do it better for the same sort of prices. $55 for 21 small pieces of sashimi, and $33 for 6 oysters - very enjoyable but other places do better for less, and the wine list is very expensive. A dead light globe above our table meant we were eating in the semi-dark - at these prices, really??

RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Tue, 28th Mar 2017 (9)

We enjoyed a number of dishes from across the menu - all were good - bug tails, oysters, soft shell crab, scallops, prawns and barramundi. It is great to have such a reliable seafood restaurant in our local area.

Mr Hobson

Port Melbourne

Annette dined on Mon, 27th Mar 2017 (10)

This is a great spot at the beginning of Station Pier. The food was well presented and very fresh. We enjoyed oysters, scallops, salmon tartare and the Thai beef salad plus desserts. The serving size was good and good value. The wine list is reasonably priced and the service attentive. This was our first visit but we will be back.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 7th Mar 2017 (9)

Always reliable but also regularly improving/changing for the better. The chicken and barrata last night were great, and there is a good wine list too with wineries you don't see everywhere.

La Camera Southgate

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 14th Feb 2017 (9)

La Camera is a convenient bistro for pre-theatre meals. Service is good (though refilling of water glasses could be more frequent). Food is fresh, tasty and delivered quickly. The wine list has a good range.

Taxi Kitchen

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Fri, 10th Feb 2017 (9)

Expect an enthusiastic welcome and great views. The food averages as good - the kingfish wonderful, and the miso eggplant is good value and tasty, but the the duck is dry and definitely needs its sticky sauce. The wine list is good over a wide price range.

Sud Food & Wine

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Wed, 1st Feb 2017 (9)

Sud is one of Melbourne's hidden gems. Good food in a pleasant atmosphere with good service. The veal last night was delicious, and the steak enormous. The wine list offers a range of choices, what more could one want? Our group comes once a year and we will be back.

Kobe Jones Melbourne

Docklands

Annette dined on Mon, 30th Jan 2017 (9)

This was our first visit so we tried one of the tasting menus - perfect for two. The starters were excellent, but it was weird that the edamame arrived with the tataki and number one special instead of before. The 'mains' were good too, though the lava roll is more of a lava mess and I am not sure I would order it again. The green tea creme brulee is excellent, but the cheesecake and icecream with cake were disappointing. Set menus are 50% off on Mondays so keep that in mind!

RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Thu, 24th Nov 2016 (9)

Very fresh seafood! The crayfish looked wonderful, the scallops were moist and the oysters great. Plus a good wine list. So glad RST is in our neighbourhood.

RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Thu, 17th Nov 2016 (9)

RST is a favourite place for good seafood and we are glad to have it in the neighbourhood. We sampled across oysters, scallops, calamari, soft shell crab and whiting and all was great!

Sud Food & Wine

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Mon, 14th Nov 2016 (10)

I love Sud and each time I go there I wonder why I have not been back sooner. The food is always good, the wine list is interesting - and then there is the man with the moustache... I will be back!

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 8th Nov 2016 (9)

A new menu, and the tuna carpaccio is great! My partner also engaged the eggplant terrine and my steak was very tender. Not so sure about the cheese on the slaw served with it though.

Aux Batifolles

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Fri, 7th Oct 2016 (10)

We love Aux Batifolles! It serves good quality food that one never tires of ordering - great oysters, steak tartare, scallops and duck - and some interesting specials. The service is attentive and it is great value. Don't tell anyone though as we like that we can usually easily get a table!!

Fino Seppeltsfield

Seppeltsfield

Annette dined on Sat, 1st Oct 2016 (10)

A delightful location with great value innovative food. The desserts were the highlight - delicious cream Catalana and charred pear. Great wine list too.

RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Wed, 14th Sep 2016 (9)

We have not been here for a while but we will be back soon! The new menu is great and the quality of the seafood is excellent and well presented by friendly staff. The Coffin Bay oysters were very fresh and the soft shell crab and scallops delicious. All are highly recommended. The BYO option for $10 corkage during the week is a nice touch - as much as we enjoy trying a new wine it was also good to be able to enjoy an old riesling from our own cellar.

Blondie

Southbank

Annette dined on Wed, 10th Aug 2016 (8)

This is a great place for a quick pre-theatre dinner. The wine list is limited but what is there is good. The food is tasty though the serving sizes vary greatly and it is hard to gauge how much to order. Ordering some and then ordering more if needed is probably a good way to go, but that takes longer... Food does arrive in odd order - two warm dishes before fresh oysters?

Aux Batifolles

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Wed, 8th Jun 2016 (9)

Aux Batifolles has become our family go to restaurant for all sorts of occasions. The printed menu never changes but there is plenty to love - oysters, duck pate, steak tartare, duck to die for, tournedos rossini to name a few. There seems to be a new chef as the plating of standards had changed, but all is good. We will be back!

La Camera Southgate

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 31st May 2016 (8)

Fast service, good wine list and great view of Melbourne - what more could you ask for?

La Camera Southgate

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 10th May 2016 (9)

The special mushroom starter was wonderful, and kingfish carpaccio was very delicate. Both highly recommended, as were the spaghetti carbonara and the salmon.

Mr & Mrs Howell

Brunswick

Annette dined on Fri, 29th Apr 2016 (9)

This is a neighbourhood gem! The duck spring rolls and crispy duck were delicious, as were the scallops. The wine list is good and the service attentive. We will be back!

Criniti's Carlton Melbourne

Carlton

Annette dined on Fri, 15th Apr 2016 (3)

Inside tables are very noisy. Lots of staff and fast service but not good value - over oily salad and grilled fish.

Phamish

St Kilda

Annette dined on Sun, 3rd Apr 2016 (9)

Attentive service, good quality food and reasonable prices - lucky local residents!

Allegro

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Fri, 1st Apr 2016 (7)

This is a convenient location for a pre-theatre dinner. The food quality is good - the duck and lamb were well prepared and the side dishes are large serves (at large prices of $11).

Aux Batifolles

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Sat, 26th Mar 2016 (10)

Yum as usual! Great oysters, tartare, duck and tournedos rossini and a select but good wine list.

Flower Drum

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Sat, 20th Feb 2016 (9)

The banquet lunch is great value and we thoroughly enjoyed the fish noodles!

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 9th Feb 2016 (9)

Enjoyable fish with lots of salad and burrata. Nice and quiet after 6.30pm theatre performance crowd left

Sud Food & Wine

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Tue, 1st Dec 2015 (9)

As usual, great food and great service. Everyone who ordered the pasta was full of praise. Given our party is was appreciated that there were so many vegetarian dishes. Good wine list too.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 10th Nov 2015 (9)

The oysters were wow! A great addition to the new menu.

The Elbow Room

Mclaren Vale

Annette dined on Sat, 10th Oct 2015 (9)

Mud crabs are great and salmon melts in your mouth. Very enjoyable!

Phamish

St Kilda

Annette dined on Thu, 8th Oct 2015 (7)

This noisy cafe is well situated for visits to the Palais theatre. The food is enjoyable and filling - but courses arriving as the kitchen has them ready can lead to having cold pasta while you finish an entree.

Paris Go

Carlton

Annette dined on Wed, 7th Oct 2015 (8)

The oysters and steak tartare are recommended. The charcuterie is good too.

Leeuwin Estate

Margaret River

Annette dined on Sat, 12th Sep 2015 (9)

It was interesting to return for dinner after having tried lunch a couple of years ago. The setting is impressive and the oysters and their presentation were great again. The roasted cauliflower with blue cheese and pear was not a convincing combination and the scampi with wombok and gai lan was ordinary. The food was better executed last time (and is more innovative at Xanadu and Voyager Estate). So overall enjoyable but a little disappointing.

Voyager Estate

Margaret River

Annette dined on Fri, 11th Sep 2015 (9)

Lunch is a two courses option (or three). The trout and octopus were yummy, pork belly was good but could have been cooked to get that melt in mouth sensation and to really make it soft. I really enjoyed the barramundi. Mark up on wine is reasonable . Would definitely go back.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Thu, 27th Aug 2015 (9)

The new menu has some very enjoyable new additions - I liked the chicken and my partner enjoyed the lamb shanks.

Seamstress Restaurant

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Tue, 7th Jul 2015 (9)

YUM!! The scallops, seafood curry, ocean trout and soft shell crab were all great.

Phamish

St Kilda

Annette dined on Thu, 25th Jun 2015 (9)

The assorted oysters are delicious and the deconstructed steak is a must eat. Not sure what happened to the feta in my baked prawns and feta, but it was delicious anyway!

The Strand Restaurant

Williamstown

Annette dined on Mon, 22nd Jun 2015 (10)

Wonderful oysters and very fresh fish. Will definitely return!

Blondie

Southbank

Annette dined on Mon, 15th Jun 2015 (8)

The small plates are great for sharing. They vary in quantity and price (not necessarily together!). The crispy squid is substantial for $18, the pork belly overpriced for two 5cm cubes for $20. Wine list is limited but interesting and service is very efficient for pre-theatre dining.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Mon, 8th Jun 2015 (8)

The veal cotoletta was yummy - but prepare to be hungry!

Bottega

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Thu, 4th Jun 2015 (9)

A warm welcome on a cold night followed by attentive service and delicious food. We particularly like the waiter who was keen to tell the chef that the oysters were delicious because he hadn't cooked them (they were natural).

Paringa Estate Winery & Restaurant

Red Hill South

Annette dined on Sun, 31st May 2015 (10)

Innovative food well presented. The pork cheek melted in your mouth and the rabbit was delicious

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Sat, 23rd May 2015 (8)

Great location for pre-theatre or concert with reliable food. Desserts are yummy!

Flower Drum

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Fri, 27th Mar 2015 (10)

The lunchtime special menu is excellent value and everyone should experience Flower Drum at least once in their life.

Aux Batifolles

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Fri, 13th Mar 2015 (10)

We love Aux Batifolles and last night introduced some friends who are now also besotted. They had trouble deciding what to choose as there was so much they wanted to try but loved their eventual choices. Everything was if high quality and tastes wonderful. We will be back soon!

Collins Kitchen

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Thu, 26th Feb 2015 (8)

Food was fresh and well presented. Bread is too delicious! A bit odd that the white wine from the wine list was not cold when first served. Window seats overlooking Russell Street are good for street watching

La Camera Southgate

Southbank

Annette dined on Thu, 29th Jan 2015 (9)

This is a great spot for good honest food and views of the Yarra

Sud Food & Wine

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Tue, 16th Dec 2014 (9)

As usual the food was delicious and my two vegetarian colleagues were very happy with their choices. The service was attentive and our main waiter did his best to ensure we had a great night out, which we did - thank you.

Seamstress Restaurant

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Fri, 3rd Oct 2014 (10)

The food here is wonderful and the service very attentive. Will certainly visit again!

Paris Go

Carlton

Annette dined on Fri, 19th Sep 2014 (9)

My family loves Paris Go and we often go there for special occasions (my partner and I sometimes go on our own too). Our favourites are the oysters, steak tartare, rillettes, charcuterie platter and the duck!! Don't miss the pommes frites either...

Mercato @ Daylesford

Daylesford

Annette dined on Fri, 5th Sep 2014 (8)

This was a first visit and we were impressed. The wine list is excellent and the food well presented and enjoyable. My partner said the emu carpaccio was the best he has had and I liked the famous cauliflower souffle. The deconstructed lemon cheesecake was very rich (but delicious) and the creme brulee was a good example of its kind. It was a pity that only 10 tables were occupied on the night - the food warrants more attention! Mercato deserves its second in Daylesford status on Trip Advisor.

La Camera Southgate

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 26th Aug 2014 (9)

The antipasto platter here is great as you decide what goes on it! The kitchen seemed slow last night and our waiter was frustrated by this, but we enjoyed our meal otherwise.

Aux Batifolles

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Sat, 23rd Aug 2014 (9)

This was our third visit and this time we introduced friends to this local gem. They want to return as there is so much more that they want to try on the menu - a good sign! We will be back too (but maybe not on a Saturday night - find a parking spot is not easy....)

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 19th Aug 2014 (9)

A great spot for pre-theatre dining (as our frequent visits attest). Tonight's charcuterie platter was huge - enough for 2! - and the spaghetti marinara was good too.

Sud Food & Wine

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Tue, 5th Aug 2014 (9)

This is a lovely Italian/Sicilian restaurant was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night, so something good is happening here apart from the service which is attentive without being intrusive. There was a wide ranges of choices for courses which made decision making hard. I found the smoked mozzarella and pork to be delicious and my partner enjoyed his large entree of gnocchi, though he thought the barramundi was a little over cooked and the accompanying vegetables a little hard. However, there is more to try on the menu and we will be back.

Aux Batifolles

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Fri, 25th Jul 2014 (9)

Aux Batifolles is a lovely bit of Paris is inner Melbourne. My family loves the traditional dishes - oysters, steak tartare and duck - but my favourite is the tornedos rossini! This has become one of our local favourites for dinner.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 8th Jul 2014 (8)

Script is a great place for a quick pre-theatre dinner or after theatre supper. The service is efficient and the food quality consistent.

Aux Batifolles

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Fri, 13th Jun 2014 (9)

After years of driving past Aux Batifolles we finally stopped for dinner last Friday night and wondered why we had not been there sooner. This is the place to go for good French brasserie food of the kind my partner likes to eat (oysters and steak tartare) plus a wonderful fillet steak for me. We were too full for dessert but will try to save space for some next time! And we will be back soon.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 20th May 2014 (7)

As a regular diner at Script I am wondering what has happened to the bread and butter to keep one entertained while awaiting the ordered food. Last night it was handed out very erratically (we missed out) and I am not sure why - do you have to ask for it now? Last night's duck and lamb dishes were disappointingly dry and there was no fish dish (again disappointing), and it was not a busy night once the Musica Viva lot left so that can't explain the dry meats. The additions to the wine list are good though.

The Grand Dining Room

Richmond

Annette dined on Tue, 1st Apr 2014 (9)

I have some special food needs due to throat cancer and its treatment (food needs to be soft/moist accompanied by plenty of water) and the degustation we had suited my needs without any compromise on a fine dining experience. Scallops, risotto and slo-cooked beef cheeks were especially good

Society Restaurant & Bar

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Wed, 26th Mar 2014 (9)

We love coming back to Society for the innovative and delicious food. Last night there was a delicious quail sausage and a tuna and octopus carpaccio as primi - yum!!

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 18th Mar 2014 (9)

Script staff are really good at ensuring you are out of the door in time for the theatre

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Tue, 28th Jan 2014 (8)

Script is reliable for getting you to your play with well prepared gastro-pub type food without breaking your budget. But do remember to book to make sure you get in!

RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Annette dined on Wed, 22nd Jan 2014 (9)

The fish, prawns, calamari and oysters were beautifully fresh, simply cooked and delightful to eat. This tavern takes its seafood seriously and the chips and salads are simple accessories to the main feature (reminded me of how Vlado's treated steaks!). We will return!

Paladarr

Alphington

Annette dined on Tue, 21st Jan 2014 (9)

This is definitely Thai fine dining - nothing like the local take away in presentation or quality of food. The food is rich and the servings smallish but it all generally works well. I particularly like the way each dish is distinctive. Join the birthday club for a nice surprise!

The Grand Dining Room

Richmond

Annette dined on Tue, 10th Dec 2013 (10)

The food here is sublime, the wine list excellent and the service attentive. A great place for an Italian experience!

The Bridgewater Mill

Bridgewater

Annette dined on Sun, 20th Oct 2013 (10)

This is the second time we have had sunday lunch here and the food was again WOW! Each course was delicate and fantastically presented and the service attentive. We will return!!

Fino

Willunga

Annette dined on Sat, 19th Oct 2013 (8)

We have dined at Fino several times and this was the first time it did not come up to its usual standard. The early dishes on the degustation menu were good but the lamb dish was very ordinary.

The Grand Dining Room

Richmond

Annette dined on Tue, 8th Oct 2013 (10)

Wow! The degustation menu was fantastic - 6 delicate courses each highlighting an ingredient but complemented by other flavours! The wine list has many suitable choices to complement the food choices and the service was attentive but not intrusive. Altogether a great night out - we will be back!!

La Camera Southgate

Southbank

Annette dined on Wed, 28th Aug 2013 (8)

Come here for the outdoor terrace overlooking the Yarra and the Melbourne skyline at dusk while you enjoy delicious Italian antipasto and wine. The main courses are good too!

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Wed, 14th Aug 2013 (7)

Script continues to be a reliable place for pre-theatre dinner if you are going to MTC or the Recital Centre. The food is generally reliable and the servings are a good size and service ensures you get out of the dor in time.

Paris Go

Carlton

Annette dined on Fri, 26th Jul 2013 (9)

We come here regularly as my husband loves the steak tartare and creme brulee and I have trouble going past the duck - it is a real neighbourhood gem!

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Wed, 26th Jun 2013 (7)

Service was a bit slow this visit (we had to remind the waiter about our wine) and there were no specials on offer (the steak was good though!), but we made it to the theatre as they are so good at ensuring!

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Sat, 15th Jun 2013 (8)

Script is a well oiled machine that handles pre theatre dining well with good quality food and wines But if that is your intention then you should ensure that you book your table and not turn up hoping to get in!

Paris Go

Carlton

Annette dined on Fri, 31st May 2013 (9)

This is a wonderful bistro experience complete with French accented waiters. The food is always reliable and good with lots of the usual suspects for a French bistro well prepared and presented.

The Grand Dining Room

Richmond

Annette dined on Mon, 18th Mar 2013 (8)

It is great to see a restaurant that has a vegetarian menu with choices. Good Italian style food and good for conversations. Wine list was balanced and with a range of choices (with 100+% markup)+

Fino

Willunga

Annette dined on Sat, 1st Sep 2012 (10)

This was our third visit and we will be back again and again. The food is always fantastic, the wine list interesting and the service great. The degustation menu is great value and the food always yummy - this time my partner even liked the way the brussell sprouts were served and I have not been able to get him to eat them in our 25 years together!

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Mon, 27th Aug 2012 (7)

The calamari salad is very reliable and the service this week was very fast!

Paladarr

Alphington

Annette dined on Thu, 16th Aug 2012 (8)

After years of talking about it , we finally made it to Paladarr last week - and we wish we had gone sooner. The Tom Yum was great (though prawns would be better than a Bug), the kangaroo delicious and the duck curry succulent. And the desserts are worth saving space for. Highly recommended.

The Leveson

North Melbourne

Annette dined on Thu, 2nd Aug 2012 (8)

This is a great find - a refurbished pub with good food, not noisy and not crowded (oops!) - parking is the main problem!

Saint Peter's Trattoria

Melbourne CBD

Annette dined on Thu, 12th Jul 2012 (7)

A trio of delicious morsels was served at the Thursday pig dinner. They were not at all filling and the additional dessert was almost essential to make a meal. The matching Italian wines were good.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Mon, 9th Jul 2012 (7)

This is the equivalent of not cheap pub food for theatre goers - fillet steaks are $35 and over cooked - but it is convenient if one is going to an MTC production.

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Mon, 9th Jul 2012 (6)

This is a good place for pre-theatre dinner (there's not much else around as My Mexican Cousin next door won't take bookings for tables less than 5...). Our steaks were over cooked but the fish and calamari were OK. An acceptable average for a specific purpose - pre and post theatre.

Dunyazad

Balwyn

Annette dined on Wed, 4th Jan 2012 (6)

We have been coming here for years, but this was the first time underthe new management. The decor is different, the menu the same but the chef does much better pastries than the previous ones. This is a great venue for families (lots of people arrive with small children around 6-6.30) and for parties, but it also works for smaller groups too. The service is a bit slow but that's OK if you are catching up on news with friends. We've never tried the banquet as we have our old favourites. We also try to avoid the belly dancer, but that's us!

Script Bar & Bistro

Southbank

Annette dined on Wed, 16th Nov 2011 (7)

this is a great place for a quick pre or post theatre meal. The food is reliable and the servings just right. It can be a bit noisy, but you usually don't hang around.
