We had a wonderful lunch here, the service was absolutely first class, attentive and helpful describing the menu and the wine list. I wish I had asked our waiter's name as he was really special. My friend mentioned I had just had my birthday and he produced a beautiful 'Turkish mess' with meringue, pistachios and rosepetals with a sparkler! The Turkish wine was excellent too- The food is ideal to share so great for larger groups too and eating outdoors with a breeze was delightful.

While the service , wines and bread are all great, the food here is really NOT good. My oysters did not taste fresh and are served with 60's 'seafood sauce' and the mussels had absolutely no flavour or aroma at all, supposed to be chilli and garlic and no taste of either...at least 10 shells were empty. Very disappointing. I have eaten here several times as a friend lovels the old fashioned options like steak Diane, but I have always been very disappointed in the food- just not worth the money sadly. I hate giving bad reviews, but have to be honest!

O Bar and Dining

The staff management and service here are outstanding, the views sublime and the food beautifully presented, and healthy, as well as tasty. It is very expensive but for a special celebration, it's wonderful :-)

Fratelli Fresh Walsh Bay

Sydney CBD

Angela dined on Wed, 4th Oct 2017 (8)

We enjoyed a very light pre-theatre supper here and the service was terrific, friendly and efficient. Generous serves of Bruschetta, almost a meal in itself at $12- the Kingfish crudo also nicely presented and very tasty. Will definitely return to sample more.

Three Blue Ducks

Bronte

Angela dined on Tue, 19th Sep 2017 (6)

For the first time in many visits, this lunch was a disappointment! Inside was incredibly noisy so we elected to eat on the street and service from a delightful young Frenchman was exemplary- but the food chosen from the very limited menu was disappointing. The Burrata was fine but came with completely inedible raw cumquats and was pronounced to be a 'strange mixture', the miso/cabbage salad was presented nicely but just tasted like coleslaw with a vaguely Asian dressing- the boys pronounced the Corn fritters excellent however, and that was the most successful dish! Our lovely waiter provided free coffees as the food had been disappointing. The sandwiches looked great and are probably a safe option,

The Nielsen

Vaucluse

Angela dined on Fri, 8th Sep 2017 (10)

We had a fabulous lunch here- tried 5 different entrees which were all superb and beautifully presented. The cappaccio of kingfish and the grilled king prawns were stand outs but all dishes were 5 star. Lovely views over the beach and lots of excellent wines by the glass. Service was great- friendly and efficient-thanks Daniella! There is also a kiosk/snack bar attached, which had great picnic fare. The perfect spot to have a walk around the headland and enjoy the views before or after lunch.

The Greens

North Sydney

Angela dined on Fri, 18th Aug 2017 (8)

This is a really pleasant place to catch up with friends. The outside area is great- inside gets very noisy. The share plates are tasty and innovative but the cost does add up-we asked for some bread to go with our 3 share plates and got 2 slices for $7! Nice wines by the glass-the Duvillea Pinot Gris was really lovely- and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.

Ripples Milsons Point

Milsons Point

Angela dined on Sun, 6th Aug 2017 (9)

Another lovely meal at Ripples- it's kept cosy on winter nights with heaters, and while less dramatic, the view is still lovely even with the perspex sheets in place against the wind. The service is charming and the food tasty and generous- nice wines by the glass too!

The Meat & Wine Co Circular Quay

Sydney CBD

Angela dined on Fri, 4th Aug 2017 (8)

Consistently good food- primarily meat/steaks but some veg options-the grain salad is great. Can be noisy with afterwork groups but the service is prompt and efficient and tyhey have decent wines by the glass- The atmosphere is dimly lit, upmarket American club/ diner style and a good reliable choice for lunch or dinner-or out of hours meals-it's open 12-11pm:-)

Another very pleasant pre theatre supper with exemplary service and heaters made it cosy, despite the outdoor seating and cool weather. That pate is amazing!

This is such a brilliant venue! We just had a pre-theatre bite tonight but the service is amazing and the chicken pate to die for and such good value! All the small plates great to share and very innovative and fresh. Wines by the glass are high quality-love the French Rose. The view is lovely and sunset a great time to be there.....

Another perfect lunch here at Ripples. The food is always seasonal, fresh and beautifully presented and the service friendly and efficient. Today they actually found a charger for my friend's phone and plugged it in- nothing is too much trouble! Nice selection of wines by the glass too.

La Puerta Latino Flavours

Neutral Bay

Angela dined on Tue, 10th Jan 2017 (6)

Unfortunately we picked a bad night to try La Puerta, their first night back after 10 days break and they were surprised by the number of patrons. This seemed to overwhelm the chef somewhat and our food was very slow in coming-altho extremely tasty and nicely presented. ( It is designed to share so best for 4 or more people so you can try different things.) To compound the problems, at 8pm 2 council trucks arrived and began drilling through the pavement just outside!! We felt so sorry for the staff, who were very charming, but it was not a great night. We'll certainly go back and try again though- without the drilling, it's nice to sit outside on the street facing deck!

O Bar and Dining

We had a very special evening here on Christmas Eve- The views are magical and it was a wonderful, exciting menu, well executed. We had superb service from Frank specifically, who was very knowledgeable on the food and wine - and all other staff were very professional and efficient. An expensive but perfect evening for a special occasion!

Hickson's Food & Wine

Sydney CBD

Angela dined on Wed, 30th Nov 2016 (9)

This is a perfect spot for dinner or lunch, especially pre-theatre. The service is friendly and very efficient, and the food delicious. Most dishes designed for 2 to share- the pate is consistently fabulous as are the meatballs. The smaller fish plates are innovative and very tasty too. Excellent wines by the glass- we loved their Rose from Provence.

Ripples Milsons Point

Milsons Point

Angela dined on Wed, 16th Nov 2016 (10)

As always this was a perfect lunch -altho this time we ate very lightly! The Tea cured salmon was especially good, but the service and food are consistently excellent, and the setting reflects the best of Sydney waterside dining. Thanks to the wonderful staff, who know the menu and wine list thoroughly and make great recommendations!

A great place for pre-theatre supper- share plates are tasty and unusual-the chicken liver pate is divine and a very general serving. Lots of wines by the glass-recommend the Rose as crisp and dry. Excellent service too- a great experience- thank you!

Ripples Milsons Point

Milsons Point

Ripples offers wonderful fresh food, imaginatively served in a great waterside position with stunning views. As always, the service by Mark and his team was exemplary, attentive but unobtrusive. A perfect lunch!

Hayes St Wharf Bistro

We have eaten here before and been quite happy with the food and service-sadly last night only the service deserved high praise.

No.1 Bent Street by Mike

Sydney

Angela dined on Wed, 3rd Aug 2016 (8)

Really charming, efficient and friendly service and great food- the mashed potato was heaven and the eggplant starter...also the bread and the pate, delicious. .... my friend enjoyed the delicious goats cheese souffle and the John Dory. Unimpressed by the House white- no real character- but lots of other wines by the glass and the Pacha Mama shiraz was well priced and delicious. Nice atmosphere, lots of polished concrete and very nice bathrooms!

Hugos Manly

Manly

Angela dined on Sat, 2nd Apr 2016 (10)

We had a brilliant lunch at Hugos today- the food was superb and presented beautifully- the service was excellent, especially from Caitlin- & despite it being absolutely packed on a sunny Saturday, the attention to detail was very good- great wine list too! High scores well deserved :-)

Hickson's Food & Wine

Angela dined on Wed, 23rd Mar 2016 (10)

We had a pre-theatre lunch and could not fault the food or the service. The Loire sparkling by the glass was gorgeous and great value. The Oysters were so fresh, just superb and we both enjoyed the coconut lobster and the tuna betel leaf dishes. Plenty for a light lunch and lovely views too.

Rockpool Bar & Grill

Sydney CBD

Angela dined on Thu, 17th Dec 2015 (9)

This is very much a special occasion venue for most of us. A large restaurant, but the ambience was excellent, and the noise level low due to the carpet and great design. The food was wonderful, (the tuna and eggplant with harissa was sublime and the steaks superb). Leon was the quintessential perfect waitperson and Anthony, who came in later was helpful and charming. The reception ladies also efficient and delightful. Altogether a wonderful night out!

Nar Ottoman

Cremorne

Angela dined on Tue, 31st Mar 2015 (9)

We really enjoyed our evening! The welcome was warm and service continued to be excellent, attentive but not intrusive and good suggestions re the menu. The food was terrific and very reasonable with generous portions. We ordered too much and were offered the extra to be brought home! Would highly recommend the prawns in a delicious sauce, the Dolma and the traditional Imam Biyaldi, as well as all the dips- really authentic Turkish cuisine and ambience.

Woodland Kitchen & Bar

Neutral Bay

Angela dined on Tue, 27th Jan 2015 (9)

We had a voucher for wine or would have spent more. The food was delicious, I had the barramundi, crispy skin and so tasty, friend enjoyed a superb steak sandwich and fries...steak mouth-wateringly tender and generous size. The lunch food simple but done so well.. and charming attentive service too. The dessert menu looked great but we resisted-nice to see a cheese plate offered!

Ripples Milsons Point

World class views and always a brilliant lunch spot, probably lovely at night too with all the city and harbour lights. A bit hectic today and noisy, as it's still the holiday season but the staff managed well. Eating here is always a great experience!

Woodland Kitchen & Bar

Neutral Bay

Angela dined on Fri, 2nd Jan 2015 (9)

We tried this restaurant for a light lunch as we had a voucher for a free bottle of wine. The wine was wonderful, and our charming waitress Jenny explained it was a chardonnay chosen from a small boutique vineyard from the Barossa. We had the scallop and green papaya salad and the tiger prawns tagliatelle, both delicious and the dressing on the Asian salad was perfect, light fresh and authentic. Great service-we'll definitely be back!

Ventuno

Millers Point

Angela dined on Mon, 15th Dec 2014 (9)

We just had a pizza and a glass of wine each. Everything was delicious and served quite quickly. The service was charming and very Italian. Ideal spot for a pre- or post theatre supper or pleasant water side casual meal.

Public Dining Room

Mosman

Angela dined on Sun, 17th Aug 2014 (9)

4 of us enjoyed a Sunday lunch very much. The place was packed but the service was personal and attentive and the food exceeded all our expectations. The cured trout was a sensation as was the belly pork and zucchini flower entrees and the mains were similarly generous serves, perfectly seasoned. The beef melted in the mouth and the cheese soufflé was the best I've ever tasted. Desserts similarly spectacular. The Alsace Pinot Gris was an excellent recommendation from our waiter as was the Bellwether Cab Merlot. A bit of a splurge but well worth it!

Another perfect lunch with a friend at this magic spot- we always have a selection of entrees, today we had scallops, smoked salmon (the accompanying celeriac remoulade is fantastic) ,pate and bruschetta, all of them delicious and service excellent as always-Andrea was charming!

Neutral Bay Diner

Neutral Bay

Angela dined on Wed, 4th Jun 2014 (5)

This is our second visit, as we were impressed with the food and service first time round at a busy Friday lunch. This time the food was very disappointing, the tiny portion of pate (this was the 'full size' a smaller one is possible!)was served with a side of something like apricot jam, no cornichons or any usual accompaniments and very doughy bread instead of the traditional toast. We had small mains which were OK but not special in any way and we decided to skip dessert and coffee. The service was pleasant and attentive though.
