Paper Bird

Potts Point

Tim dined on Mon, 1st Jul 2019 (9)

It’s a shame Paper Bird is closing early August as this restaurant has consistently served great fusion food over the last few years. I’ve been enjoying their food since the days of Moon Park in Redfern so hopefully they will arise somewhere new so I can continue enjoying their great food.

The d'Arenberg Cube Restaurant

Mclaren Vale

Tim dined on Thu, 18th Apr 2019 (9)

Best meal eaten on our Adelaide getaway! A great way to spend an afternoon.

Restaurant Orana

Adelaide CBD

Tim dined on Tue, 16th Apr 2019 (8)

Innovative fine dinner emphasising Australian native ingredients. Any visit to Adelaide for a foodie should include Restaurant Orana.

Ripples at Chowder Bay

Tim dined on Thu, 4th Apr 2019 (9)

Very pleasant way to spend a lazy lunch. Great views, good food, BYO and a lunch deal makes Ripples a value proposition. Recommended.

A1 Canteen

Tim dined on Sat, 30th Mar 2019 (9)

Great variety of dishes which we shared with a group of six. A bit noisy but otherwise a great night out.

Pino's Vino e Cucina

Tim dined on Thu, 21st Mar 2019 (5)

The food was nice but the menu is a bit limited. There is a good wine list with many Italian varieties but it was expensive. The worst part was the service - mains came out and were plonked down despite the fact we were still only half way through our entree. Similarly, desserts were offered as they cleared our plates and still had most of our wine to drink. Whilst the food was tasty, unless you want to eat in a rush, I can’t recommend this establishment.

12 Micron

Tim dined on Sun, 17th Mar 2019 (6)

Beautiful views across Darling Harbour to Balmain and the hills. Service was friendly and attentive. However, it is expensive especially the wine list and food was average. Probably won’t be rushing back.

Cupitt's Kitchen

Tim dined on Mon, 11th Mar 2019 (7)

2 or 3 course price fixed menu with good value wine pairing. Paired wines are Cupitt’s own wines but other wines available on the wine list. Nice bucolic views over valley to distant escarpment.

St Isidore

Tim dined on Sun, 10th Mar 2019 (9)

Relaxing Sunday lunch at St Isadore’s.

Delhi 'O' Delhi

Tim dined on Tue, 22nd Jan 2019 (8)

Great neighbourhood Indian restaurant made better by allowing BYO wine ($4/person). Food was above average especially the goat curry.

The Argus Dining Room

Hepburn Springs

Tim dined on Sat, 29th Dec 2018 (8)

Nice restaurant in Hepburn Sorings. Had the ‘feed me’ menu which provided a good selection of their share plates.

Black Cow Bistro

Tim dined on Sun, 30th Sep 2018 (9)

Great steaks but prices are a bit pointy.

Tim dined on Wed, 2nd May 2018 (8)

Special ‘Mushroom’ dinner with paired wines. Fantastic soup course but the ‘main’ had a bit too much polenta and too little ‘shroom’.

Kitchen by Mike CBD

Sydney CBD

Tim dined on Tue, 24th Apr 2018 (7)

Went to No. 1 Bent Street on a Dimmi special - set menu for 50% off. Portions were small and other than signature lamb fairly unremarkable. Wine ranged from expensive to outrageous. Very noisy with accompanying doof doof soundtrack made conversation difficult. Glad I didn’t have to pay full freight.

Barrel Bar and Dining

Tim dined on Thu, 12th Apr 2018 (8)

A good place for a drink and bar snacks before the theatre.

Cafe Morso

Tim dined on Sun, 29th Oct 2017 (7)

Service was very stretched as there were lots of patrons from the Seven Bridges Walk plus the Ferrari Concourse events occurring on the same day. Many take away coffee meant that floor staff were challenged. Food (when it did arrive - with an apology) was very good.

Pazar Food Collective

Hurlstone Park

Tim dined on Sat, 25th Mar 2017 (8)

Food was fantastic. We had the banquet and there was so much food. Great night with friends

The Herring Room

Tim dined on Fri, 24th Mar 2017 (7)

Started with shared plates of duck won tons, squid ink ravioli and mussels in coconut broth which were all flavoursome. These were recommended as 'share' plates but required both the won tons and the ravioli to be divided at the table, rather spoiling the presentation. Also didn't appreciate the rather heavy handed up sell on 'appetisers to start'. Mains and desserts were very nice and overall Herring Room was perfect for a pleasant night out with friends.

Tim dined on Tue, 21st Mar 2017 (8)

Paired drinks were spot on. Food was very good.

Tim dined on Thu, 9th Mar 2017 (9)

One of the best degustation dinners with matching wines currently on offer in Sydney at the moment.

Old City Kitchen & Bar

Tim dined on Fri, 24th Feb 2017 (8)

Had the meat share platter plus a vego share platter - certainly enough food for 7 of us. Small selection of wines but they were good value also.

The Hill Eatery

Tim dined on Sun, 13th Nov 2016 (8)

A good selection of brunch staples. Not the most inventive which is surprising considering the shared heritage with Porch and Parlour.

Three Blue Ducks Rosebery

Tim dined on Sun, 11th Sep 2016 (8)

Another great addition to the 3BD expanding empire. They have nailed their brunch options (although a bacon addition to the mushrooms would be the ultimate). Service was spot on with our waitperson always scanning the tables looking for those needing attention. A great spot for a relaxed Sunday brunch with friends.

Amanda's on the Edge

Tim dined on Fri, 13th Nov 2015 (8)

Good meal for large group at Amanda's. Vegetarian menu provided good choices. Emphasis on Hunter wines (to be expected).

Tim dined on Wed, 9th Jul 2014 (9)

Another great dinner at Ester. Don't miss the cauliflower

Tim hasn't selected a top 10 yet.
