Boardwalk Restaurant & Bar

Magnetic Island

The dinner experience is a little different to the breakfast. I’m reviewing the dinner. The restaurant staff were all very lovely. We ordered the seafood tower. The fresh bug was perfect. My personal favourite. There were 6 good sized prawns, some smoked salmon, oysters and mussels. The hot flood section was good too with a few pieces of battered flathead, some crispy prawn pastry parcels and super crunchy spicy salt and pepper squid which I liked a lot. Chips, salad, and some dark rye bread with very very garlic infused butter. 3 of us ate the platter, and there was still a little leftover. Atmosphere was nice enough. Decor is good. Aircon a little cold, but stark I terror makes it a little noisy, especially with many families and kids.

This place has delicious and well presented food. The service is also very accommodating and prompt.

The name of this restaurant is a little odd given the historical nature of the building and ambiance inside. It’s just a stunning interior with enormously high ornate Victorian ceilings and a cupola. The food was quite delicious and good value. The service was very attentive. I thought that the furniture let down the restaurant. The food, interior and service is good enough to lift it up a notch and add some nicer chairs and tablecloths.

Second time back in 2 weeks. Food is amazing. Drinks and cocktail selection deliver joy to the guests. Everyone who attended was grateful for the wonderful experience. Comments in dimmi booking didn’t make it to the reservation request though....

Food very tasty and generous portions. A great business lunch venue.

The DOG Hotel

Randwick

The food was good for pub food. The place was not overly crowded, but there didn’t seem to be enough staff to make sure everything was taken care of. Not a bad local place for a drink and a casual meal.

Great atmosphere. Food was superb, and the cocktails were excellent also. Will be going back.

SEFA Kitchen

The food, service and drinks were all lovely. A little unique which I loved. It’s small and intimate. We had outdoor seating. They do 2 seatings which I don’t like, but it’s small, so I understand why.

The Wine Library

Woollahra

Stephanie dined on Thu, 29th Nov 2018 (8)

Not very notable decor. Service was nice. The wine list is excellent and the food leans more to small bites, with a couple of main options. Food was delicious. I would have liked to not pay $9 for a few slices of bread only to find bread came with one of the dishes.

Manta Restaurant & Bar

Woolloomooloo

Service was lovely. Great cocktails. The food was absolutely Devine, clean fresh and crisp flavours. Perfectly cooked. The views and atmosphere on the wharf is naturally classy and enjoyable. We’re definitely going back.

The 8-course degustation menu (only choice) is a culinary journey. It's interesting and definitely unique. Don't be fooled by the simple working on the menu though, for example, the fish and chips was a piece of crispy skinned fish and the chips were a few pieces of puffed skin blown up into chips. It's definitely inventive. There was a lot of food overall, and we also had the ploughman's board with some great cheeses. The wine matchings were superb and global, and finally, the service was first class. I also loved the open kitchen concept. location was a little obscure though. Almost couldn't find it! Great.

Food, service and atmosphere is great. Drinks menu is good too. Only thing I would say is that even though the service was nice our waitress encouraged us to waaaayy over order for 2 people.

The service could not be faulted.Food and drinks were absolutely on par with what was promised. We had eye fillets and they were cooked to perfection. They made slight changes to accomodate someone's allergies with dessert which was lovely.

I have been there 4 times now. It's a nice atmosphere, good service generally and the food is reasonably consistent, but I don't recommend all dishes. The steak was not great, but the fish and lamb shoulder nice. The buratta with pear is exceptional. I can pass on the desserts. Cocktails are good!

Parea Greek Tavern

Kogarah

Stephanie dined on Tue, 12th Mar 2013 (8)

The place is very clean, but quite sterile, and loud. Great for families with kids. We were 2 couples that wanted an adult dinner experience, the creation of some alcoves and private areas would help create a better experience for that style of customer. The food. Lamb, pork and chicken souvlaki were very nice and tasty, pita bread delicious as was the haloumi cheese, but there were alot of chips on the plate and they were cold when they arrived so inedible. The gyros was tasty, but needed more lamb inside and less chips. Overall though the service was quick, the food was tasty and considering that you can get items like Gyros for under $10, and most items under $20 it makes for an economical night out.
