Charred Kitchen & Bar

Adam dined on Sat, 5th Jan 2019 (8)

When we lived in Orange for 4 months in 2017, we came to Charred multiple times. As we have not visited in 12 months, they have changed from shared plates to a la carte...which I think is a shame. The style was much better for trying the different flavours and dishes, and I am not sure the reason for the change. One service point that left a bad taste was when being seated, we asked for a booth, as one was available. The server asked the manager which said it was booked. Fine. Then, naturally, no one was seated at that table for the entire time we were in the restaurant. I get it, if the table is reserved or you have a regular that likes that table, by all means they should have it. But for the manager to lie that it’s booked, and then hide when we’re leaving was unprofessional. The food remains excellent, but basic courtesy counts as well.

Encasa Restaurant Pitt Street

Sydney CBD

Adam dined on Fri, 19th Oct 2018 (8)

It is hard to find good Spanish in Sydney anymore, but Encasa is still probably one of the best options. Food comes out fast, and standard dishes don’t disappoint.

The Rocks

Adam dined on Sun, 19th Aug 2018 (9)

The Quay 2.0 experience exceeded my expectations. Having been before, years ago, I was excited to try the new updated version of the restaurant. It was like dining at a completely different restaurant. I would probably not returned to the old Quay a second time, but now that it has been given new life, I would definitely return. The service was amazing, and virtually every dish was unique and stand out.

Encasa Restaurant Pitt Street

Sydney CBD

Hard to find good Spanish in Sydney...this does the trick when you need a fix.

One Penny Red

Summer Hill

Adam dined on Tue, 26th Jun 2018 (9)

Amazing meal paired with a wine we brought for their Raid the Cellar monthly night. One issue, it’s WAY too loud always...nothing to dampen sound on the hard concrete walls. Be aware. Otherwise, always a great experience.

Adam dined on Sat, 2nd Jun 2018 (9)

Amazing choices all around

Bekya Middle Eastern Kitchen

Forest Lodge

Adam dined on Thu, 24th May 2018 (9)

The Ladies Fingers needs to come with honey or another sauce on the balance the salty. Overall, except dessert, a great meal.

Claire's Kitchen at Le Salon

Adam dined on Wed, 25th Apr 2018 (9)

Great french fare on Oxford St. I can't believe I haven't been here before. Amazing tartare and the duck pie!

Adam dined on Fri, 13th Apr 2018 (9)

So many great choices.

Luyu & Yum Yum

Adam dined on Thu, 12th Apr 2018 (7)

The food is great but WAY overpriced. I would only eat here with the 50% off food offer.

EXP. Restaurant

Adam dined on Fri, 30th Mar 2018 (5)

We were excited to try Exp., having visited other great places in the Hunter Valley. While I could feel what I chef was going for, it wasn't anything "amazing"...and for $95 a head, I expected more. The kangaroo was the best I have had, and probably ever will, but the other dishes were just average, with some interesting ingredient choices. Not wonderful, not bad, but middle of the road.

Spanish Tapas

Adam dined on Thu, 8th Mar 2018 (7)

The tapas are mostly good. The chicken wings had zero flavour, aside from the garlic. Best to stick to Monday when it’s 50% off tapas. But overall it’s a good neighborhood place.

Tokyo Laundry

Adam dined on Fri, 2nd Feb 2018 (8)

Good for dining before a show at the opera house

Charred Kitchen & Bar

Adam dined on Sat, 27th Jan 2018 (9)

Went back for a second night to try a couple of different dishes...still did not disappoint. Great seasoning and flavors across the board. Nice to see so many different and newer Orange region wineries represented on the list. Nice to have visited and tasted something that day, and then enjoy a glass with the meal that evening.

Charred Kitchen & Bar

Adam dined on Fri, 26th Jan 2018 (9)

Unexpected menu. Very umami. What a great find. I’m a pig for food and the 4 course was sufficient. Will be back.

Jade Temple

Sydney CBD

Adam dined on Sat, 12th Aug 2017 (6)

We had the $75 banquet menu, which overall was excellent, except for the drunken chicken, which was a disappointment. It looked and tasted like it was out of a can; it had zero flavor or seasoning. To have two chicken dishes on a tasting menu is not what I'd expect from Neil Perry. I'm surprised this dish was so awful; it added nothing to the meal. We would return when they can get their service act more together.

One Penny Red

Summer Hill

Adam dined on Fri, 11th Aug 2017 (8)

Great spot, but TOO loud. Typical space with all concrete walls and nothing to deaden the sound. Just be aware. Overall a great meal otherwise.

Voyager Estate

Margaret River

Adam dined on Tue, 27th Dec 2016 (9)

Allow plenty of time for the service

Luyu & Yum Yum

Adam dined on Mon, 14th Nov 2016 (8)

Try and grab any specials being offered; otherwise, very expensive.

The Governors Kitchen

Sydney CBD

Adam dined on Sat, 8th Oct 2016 (6)

Close to the Conservatorium of Music and Botanic Gardens

Delhi 'O' Delhi

Adam dined on Mon, 26th Sep 2016 (9)

Consistently good food. The Goan Macchi is outstanding. Service can be hit or miss; waited forever for the bill after asking several people. Overall a great place

Alegrias Spanish Tapas

Adam dined on Tue, 13th Sep 2016 (5)

The beef cheeks was the standout dish, otherwise, nothing to write home about. Server wouldn't write anything down...then forgot two dishes.

Norsk Bar & Kitchen

Sydney CBD

Adam dined on Fri, 9th Sep 2016 (9)

They've changed to a menu of the day, so beware no ala carte. It's nice to be able to try so many different dishes, but sitting at the bar to be able to get from the bar menu would be a good option as well. Gravlax and marrow dishes are amazing.

Spanish Tapas

Adam dined on Wed, 7th Sep 2016 (8)

We went on a 50% off our food deal which made the price right. After the meal, we'd probably still return at full price. The calamari was just like you'd get in Madrid

Luyu & Yum Yum

Adam dined on Tue, 23rd Aug 2016 (6)

It's really expensive, even for the quality. 4 small dumplings range from $12-18. We went and Tuesday was apparently $10 dumplings, but the bill was still incorrect and we were overcharged. I've been twice and I don't think it's worth the really high prices, given the range of choices in Newtown

The Eatery

Adam dined on Sun, 14th Aug 2016 (3)

Standard hotel breakfast; nothing special. Staff was wonderful however. Lunch or dinner might be better

The Euro

Brisbane CBD

Adam dined on Sat, 13th Aug 2016 (6)

I thought the degustation would be the way to go, but at $85 it was a ridiculously small amount of food for 5 courses. Would've been much better ordering a la carte

Luyu & Yum Yum

Adam dined on Wed, 3rd Aug 2016 (8)

Expensive mains but some interesting choices that are unique. Still a good place, price aside.

The Stinking Bishops

Adam dined on Wed, 27th Jul 2016 (8)

Nice to be able to book a table midweek as this option isn't available Friday or Saturday night.

Delhi 'O' Delhi

Adam dined on Fri, 22nd Jul 2016 (8)

Great Indian right off of King in Newtown. Loved the Goan Macchi and Dahi Wala Gosht (goat). Service was fast and friendly. Finally glad to be able to try here and will definitely be back.

Restaurant Botanica

Adam dined on Sat, 9th Apr 2016 (8)

Great stop for lunch between cellar doors. The service was a little slow, but the bread made up for the wait.

Adam hasn't selected a top 10 yet.
