The service is quick and friendly. The food assortment is just amazing, a great variety to suit everyone. The duck roti is divine, all dumplings are yummy. I love all their vegetable/green sides. I love the atmosphere, the mood is relaxed and despite being busy, you don’t get rushed out the door. Like the seats along the kitchen that is cool for watching the noodle making and see how the kitchen is run with military precision. Recommend this to all types of diners. Groups to families, easily done.

Brasserie l'Entrecote

Pymble

This is a beautiful place. It has everything for any occasion - it is a great size (it is cosy), the service is just on point and the food is delicious. If you are after great French cuisine, this is the place for you. The variety and quality is impressive. Tonight we started off with yummy cocktails. Then we moved on to the tartare au couteau, le souffle gratine (highly recommend this dish), steak & frite. we finished off with le soufflé a la framboise and a dessert wine and coffee. Highly recommend this place, for intimate dinners, for groups and family dinners.

Lachlan's

Parramatta

Genevieve dined on Sat, 21st Jul 2018 (10)

Visited Lachlan’s for the Trust the Chef promotion. This is week 8 of the 9 weeks it is on. I went with a large group of people to celebrate a variety of special occasions. We sat in one of the rooms of the old garrison. It is such a pretty and historic venue. It was private and cosy with a fireplace (and heater for back up, as it gets really cold here), friendly and genuine service staff....We started off with sparkling wine and some crispy tortillas and we ordered some wines and beers and discussed the menu, which you only get to see when you get there one the night. Then the food starts to arrive. The food was great (not the most creative description but what else is better than great?) and perfectly paced between courses. Some of my companions were pleasantly surprised that brussel sprouts can actually taste real good! We caught a glimpse of what the desert was going to be, when early diners were almost done, and we got really excited. Again, how many people truly enjoy trifle? But it wasn’t ordinary trifle, of course not! But I digress, the next course was a truffle risotto with flash-fried mushroom, the next course was duck breast with butternut pumpkin purée, zucchini ribbons and mushrooms. Now dessert it was a ricotta and cinnamon trifle, served in a wine glass. Complete with amaretti biscuits, a cherry gel and fancy schmancy fairy floss. Washed it down with a black coffee and finished the whole affair off, with liqueur chocolates. Did I mention this deal was ‘great’? It was a BARGAIN! Sparking wine to start, 4 decent portion courses, tea/coffee and liqueur chocolates for $58! If you don’t have anything on this coming Friday and Saturday, I would recommend coming! This is the last weekend and some of the favourites from the last 8 weeks are having their encores!

Highly recommend this beautiful place! Having another opportunity to check out the Trust the Chef promotion and this is week 7 of their promo. Another week, a new menu! Divine menu this week. Zucchini flowers with pine nut ricotta, a deceivingly small but filling baked gnocchi, beef carpaccio with truffle aioli, jalapeño, micro herbs and ricotta fritters! This dessert is so moreish but the two large pieces is more than enough! The promo only goes for 9 weeks, so definitely worth checking it out.

Tonight is week 6 of the Trust the Chef promotion and it was another fantastic menu and excellent service from the team at Lachlan’s. Only a few more opportunities to try their winter promo, so glad to round up friends to check this wonderful venue out.

Thoroughly enjoyed a different menu tonight. Have been trying the different offerings, with Lachlan’s Trust the Chef promotion. This week didn’t disappoint. With an earthy theme, there were a couple of dishes featuring different mushrooms and what an absolutely delightful surprise - parsnip and carrot soup! Never heard of it, looked like pumpkin soup but wow, carrot softened by the parsnip and sweetened by the hazelnut. It set the scene beautifully for yet another unique menu. So here is the offering for week 5. 1. Roasted parsnip and carrot soup with spinach pesto, hazelnut and carrot petals. 2. Truffle gnocchi with burnt butter sauce, tempura enoki and sautéed chanterelles. 3. Roasted pork belly with apple confit, braised witlof and salted walnut, walnut jus 4. Chocolate tart with orange creme and candied mandarin. Then finished the evening off with coffee and liqueur truffles. Did I have any favourites? The soup was a winner because it was so different, but the gnocchi was a close second because I’m not fond of these at the best of times, but tonight; those little pillows of potatoes were so moreish... I may have to convert. The roast pork belly, well it’s all in the crunchy crackle, right? Well tick to that as well. The dessert was quite sweet for me, but I washed it down with a black coffee. So overall, along with wonderful friends for company, it was a very pleasant Friday night in this old but cosy place.

Barangaroo

Genevieve dined on Tue, 26th Jun 2018 (10)

Our booking wasn’t showing up, but we were given a very nice table, next to a heater since it is outside. The atmosphere was great, service fast and very courteous. The food came out quickly and we were pleasantly surprised by the generous servings. The food was just fantastic! Highly recommend this place. We enjoyed freshly prepared cheese and garlic naan (you won’t need rice after all), Chicken Tikka Masala Curry, Paneer Korma Dal Tadka and the Lamb Korma. We also had access to great wines and beers. It won’t disappoint!

Lachlan's

Visited for a 2nd time for The Trust the Chef promotion. It’s such a beautiful place. The menu is specially designed and is not from the a la carte menu, so whatever comes out is a complete surprise. Totally recommend Lachlan’s for any special event. The restaurant is in the old garrisons, so you can have a great time here whether it’s for an intimate dinner for two, or with a group of people.

First impressions are usually the best and long lasting, and my first visit to Lachlan’s was just that... the best. This venue is so unique with its long and interesting history, that there was an expectation that the food should be just as special. So we went to Lachlan’s to try their ‘Trust the Chef’ winter promo and we were in for a treat. We were greeted so warmly, it was easy to forget it was a really cold night. The service was fantastic and the maitre d’ was not only prompt and professional but also a lighthearted funny gentleman! You finally get a glimpse of what is to come when you receive the menu for the evening and a glass of sparkling wine to start. That’s when we knew the evening was going to be a great one. Then, in perfect timing, the four courses started to come. 1. French onion soup 2. Twice-baked cheese soufflé 3. Beef bourguignon 4. Craqueline profiterole To share that we had a great evening and the food was fantastic, is not enough to truly express what an experience it was to come here. It was a wonderful surprise that in the new trend of 2-hour sittings in fine dining restaurants, there are still establishments that will let you linger over your delectable dishes and not rush you out the door. Happy to recommend this place and the Trust the Chef promo, it was fun and a great way to try something new.

Have been going to Bistro Papillon for years, it is an absolute favourite. For this visit, we tried raclette for the first time and happily recommend it. It’s a great experience and incredibly good value.

Akira Sushi - Lane Cove

Lane Cove

Genevieve dined on Wed, 16th May 2018 (10)

I organised a surprise birthday dinner for my husband. I prefer-ordered the food before the night and Akira Sushi brought out the food at the time that suited the group, the timings of each course was perfect. The portions were just right, they advised on our preselected dishes to make sure there was a good variety for our large group; especially since we had dietary requirements. We were provided an area of the restaurant that was just for ourselves. Most importantly, the food was delicious, so much variety - well presented and refined... best of all was the total bill. This place is great value, there is corkage but not cakeage and even more surprising was the complementary treat of ice cream for the young kids to go with their cake. We were recommended this place and it is easy to see why. It is our turn to recommend this place! A big nod and thank you to Emily and Chef, and the team for making the birthday such a wonderful and smooth event. This place is an absolute gem for Lane Cove. While there are quite a few Japanese places in Lane Cove already, this is worth a visit. Cannot wait to return soon.

Chat Thai Circular Quay

Sydney CBD

Genevieve dined on Fri, 20th Apr 2018 (9)

The food is really good. There is an absolutely great selection, even if you are fussy. Would recommend for all types - small to large groups. Place is large and can get quite full, busy and noisy. Be patient with the wait staff, they can be brisk with you, but that guarantees the food coming when you need it, especially if you’re seeing a show. Our food came out fast, generous portions, great price.

Fratelli Fresh Bridge Street

Sydney CBD

Genevieve dined on Thu, 30th Nov 2017 (9)

Service is fantastic and the food is what makes us come back. We asked for a less busy section of the restaurant and we were placed just where we where we wanted. It was perfect for the small celebration we were having. Definitely recommend this place and will keep coming back.

Banksii

Barangaroo

Genevieve dined on Sat, 23rd Sep 2017 (10)

The hosts are fantastic! If you want to feel welcome when you walk in the door, you need people like these. I don't know his name, but the gentleman who sat us down is awesome - he was as professional and welcoming as the last time we were here. Our server was wonderful, I am impressed with his knowledge of the cocktails and his recommendations we're great choices. The only unpleasant part of the evening was sitting in front of the service area. Servers kept banging and dropping cutlery into boxes right behind and just over our heads. It was distracting, I kept wondering if the cutlery would slip and drop onto our heads the whole time we were there. The service and the food, made it all worthwhile. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning.

Annata

Crows Nest

Genevieve dined on Thu, 6th Jul 2017 (10)

Thoroughly enjoy visiting Annata. Have been here with different groups of friends and each time is as special as the first. We love leaving the selections to the chef, although we always wish the burrata dish is included as it such a delicious dish. Service is consistent and the people are always welcoming. Looking forward to another visit soon. Highly recommended for anyone who is always looking forward to something different, something special.

Great value with the Annata menu. Everyone who served us from the moment we walked into the door were fantastic. We went to Annata to share the experience with a friend and we were not disappointed. If you want to try something different with ambiance and service to match, Annata is the place to go. Go for the Annata menu and let the chef create the experience for you.
