Mostly healthy Vietnamese food - nothing exciting but inexpensive and close to QPAC. Service is super fast so no leisurely dining here. Cape Grim sparkling water was great.

Great place with good food, wine/drinks, decor and atmosphere. The staff were very accommodating in helping to seat my Father in the best spot to accommodate his mobility needs. Overall it was not a good as our previous visits but we still enjoyed the food and wine.

We love this place - the food and service is consistently good. The pizza oven has arrived but unfortunately they don’t do pizza on a Sunday but we will be back again to try it out.

Few little glitches that were rectified by waitperson very well. Inexpensive lunch menu of Italian faves.
Jennifer dined on Sun, 17th Feb 2019 (10)
We waited two long years to visit Spice temple again (we live interstate) and it did not disappoint. Food wine service just perfect, again. The decor was unchanged and we were so happy as it is amazing. Some same dishes - please oh please, never take the tea smoled duck off the menu. The duck egg prawn dish was spicy but so worth it. i hope to back in Sydney sooner than last time ...

This was our first time and we had high expectations given the reputation of this restaurant. Don’t come here if you want a traditional Japanese dining experience of peace and tranquility. It was a jumping modern Saturday night out and the food reflected the atmosphere. Fantastic modern Japanese food but still very refined and perfectly executed. Service was personable but there were a few glitches which we put down to not a enough staff. Come on Sake, with the prices you charge employ a few more people.
Jennifer dined on Fri, 15th Feb 2019 (10)
We have been here before so our expectations were high and it did not disappoint. Everything was amazing - the best produce and prepared skillfully and presentation executed to a high standard. A couple of minor service niggles but recified straight away. You must go.
Jennifer dined on Thu, 14th Feb 2019 (7)
We waited two years before we were visiting Sydney again to come back to dine here and it was a real disappointment. To be fair it was St Valentines Day so the worse day of the year to dine out but the service was not good. The crab is no longer bought to you in a bag but but in a tin bucket so the crab was cold and hard to eat. The fun is gone and it is not cheap. We went to Bennelong the next night and had a 6 course degestation menu with extra drinks and only paid $50 more.
Jennifer dined on Sat, 9th Feb 2019 (9)
This is a great place - Italian classics plus dishes with a modern twist. Compact but good wine list that complements the food. Cocktails and spritzers (classic and modern) and they are now installing a pizza oven. What’s not to like? Service is what you would expect from a family run business in Italy. Love love love.
Jennifer dined on Sun, 13th Jan 2019 (9)
This is a great place - the amazing eclectic decor is very classy and the menu has many interesting dishes. The service is professional and personable. Toowoomba doesn’t have any other restaurant like this one and open on a Saturday and Sunday for lunch as well.

Every year at Christmas I come to the Shingle Inn at City Hall for the nostalgia of Christmas past. I looked at the review I did last year and unfortunately the problems that existed then have not been recified. Service is still appalling. 30 mins just to get an order taken and then a futher 45 mins before our two meals arrived, leaving us 15 mins to eat. When we asked the waitperson what was going on as we had an appointment to go to, we were firmly told by her that they were busy & we just had to wait. No attempt at being polite at all and no apology. The food when it arrived was ok but due to the service issues we had to forgo the sweets that Single Inn is renown. Took home a fruit that was so dry I suspected it had been baked the day before. Lasty the carpet was fifthy and a general clean and polish up is needed. Most of the past elegance has gone but on a positive note I was glad to see the uniforms had returned.

Always reliable for well cooked standard Italian fare with personable service
Jennifer dined on Sat, 20th Jan 2018 (9)
This is our second time at Otto and it was as good as we remembered. Amazing food, beautifully presented and professional and personable service. We enjoyed all our dishes but the sea urchin pasta was the standout. My Belini was made with real peach juice, as it should be - as opposed to peach liquor which most places try to convince you is the real thing. The view of the story bridge makes a great backdrop to your meal. There were a few minor service issues, which appear to originate from the kitchen. This also happened on our last visit and is odd given the high standards here but these were very quickly rectified and had only a minor impact on a great night out.
Jennifer dined on Tue, 19th Dec 2017 (7)
I go to the City Hall at Christmas to remind me of visits as a child - a refined and elegant experience. Other than the original decor, there is nothing to remind you of the past. The service is chaotic and unprofessional. Gone are the immaculate uniforms, they have been replaced by grubby tee-shirts. Only a couple of the old favourite menu items survive. After waiting 50 minutes we did finally get some food - which was enjoyable but the entire visit was spoiled by the service. It is a pity, as this could be a fantastic iconic dining experience in an amazing setting but some real changes need to made, not by looking forward but looking back!

Reliable lighter style Vietnamese food - nothing fancy but everything tasted great and service was fast and efficient.
Jennifer dined on Sat, 29th Jul 2017 (9)
This is a special occasion restaurant with luxe food & surroundings, amazing views and charming service. It is modern fine dining & for those of us that miss old fashioned fine dining it fills the gap. But like all modern fine dining restaurants it just doesn't offer those special touches that made old fashioned dining great. The chairs are hard as rock - not conducive for lesuirely dining - I am still recovering from my back ache. The service was charming but not the impeccable service you expect from a fine dining restaurant. In saying this, the few service errors were rectified politely and promptly without blaming the diner as many restaurants do and we were offered a complimentary digestif as the end of our meal in compensation. Masterclass in dealing with customer dissappointment. But the food, oh the food, other than the desserts which were not to my taste but innovative and elegantly presented, was just amazing. I could find no fault and just wish I ordered the whole truffle pasta dish to eat entirely by myself instead of sharing ... with be back with others

A wide variety of cuisines but the Asian options were the best. All dishes were well prepared and though not adventurous everything was very tasty.
Jennifer dined on Fri, 15th Apr 2016 (9)
It is like stepping back in time - Silver service, comfortable formal decor and seating - and the service, oh the service, not seen often these days! These staff know their job and they go that extra mile. They also have "personality" which shines through & adds that special element which makes a good waitperson exceptional and keeps you coming back. The food is traditional but has some modern twists with good quality ingredients. Flaming creme brûlée was magical. Must have - the crepes suzette done at your table - an absolute highlight - the maitre'd does it with flair & a story!

Moda is one of our favourite restaurants which explains why we were eating out on Valentine's Day. It is a truth universally acknowledged that if you want good food & service cook at home on Valentine's Day - with the high volume of diners and necessity of set menus no restaurant is at its best but Moda's Valentine's Day set menu enticed us to break a long held rule. A rule which we were very sorry to have broken. Our visit was simply not up to Moda's normal high standard for both service & food. Three courses served and consumed in less than an hour must be a record and does not make for an enjoyable evening. This includes the delay we caused by asking that dessert not to be served until we finished our wine - other tables were not so lucky. Moda is known for exceptional service - noticing things like you haven't finished your wine before serving your next course is just normal service at Moda. The little details that make a night out special rarely escape Moda's staff's notice. Also it is the first time we have drunk only two glasses of wine with dinner - the food was served so fast we didn't get a chance to order more. The food served was mostly good but again not up to Moda's usual high standards but I am sure much better than you would have got at the majority of restaurants on Valentine's Day. We will be going back to Moda - just not on Valentine's Day.

Good standard Japanese fare with a few standout dishes - the chawanmushi with truffle and the grilled tooth fish were amazing

I love Moda - we go as often as we can & it never disappoints! Food and service is of the highest standard and they have an extensive wine list that you don't often find in restaurants these days. It has an amazing vibe that most Brisbane restaurant's lack. If you love traditional Spanish food you will find it here but the real stand out is the innovative modern Spanish dishes that you just can't find anywhere else in Brisbane.

We have dined at Stone a number of times over the years and always had a positive experience - their tapas menu is interesting & perfect food for a day out at Southbank or a light meal before a show but unfortunately yesterday's visit was a complete disappointment. Service was non existent - our waitress did not know the menu or anything about what was on it - in the end we had to point to the menu items we wanted. Our plates were not cleared between courses, even though they were not busy. When our plates were removed we were asked to keep our dirty knives & forks to use for the next course ... We had to ask for the table to be wiped down and she produced a blue kitchen chux wipe - not even your most basic local restaurant would do that these days. We fared better than the only other diners in the restaurant - they all got the wrong meals, they had to get up & chase down the waitress to get any service at all (menu, drinks, glasses etc) and they left more than half the food on their plates. At least our food was okay - excepting the mussel dish which should never have been served; however, once it was brought to their attention they did not charge us for the dish. All this can be fixed with an experienced restaurant manager on shift - unfortunately, it was the inexperienced, leading the hopeless when we dined .... It must be said that the staff were very apologetic and personable.

Some interesting dim sum options as well as the more usual types - the hand made noodles should not be missed.
Jennifer dined on Sun, 11th Jan 2015 (6)
I very rarely have to give a less the complimentary review for a dimmi restaurent but this is one occasion - while the astmosphere & recreated decor is amazing, the service and food portions were a real let down - waited 50 minutes to be served our afternoon tea and while the menu listed a range of finger sandwiches per person, what was served was only one of each type of these small finger sandwiches for 2 people - we had to cut then in half - not what is expected at $40 per head. The cakes were delicious. As a previous reviewer raised, we were not able to use our entertainment card which would have just compensated us for the overpriced meal.
Jennifer dined on Thu, 14th Aug 2014 (9)
Moda is known for innovative Spanish food and it did not disappoint. The tapas were refined and interesting tasty little morsels but the highlight of the meal was the special - truffle risotto - perfectly executed and presented - it was like a religious experience, it was that delicious. Wine list includes some interesting stuff and the service was impeccable. It has the vibe of a Tapas bar with the things you expect at a fine dining establishment - comfortable chairs, linen serviettes, quality cutlery, high standards in food and service - we will be back.

Great restaurant with particularly good service - so rare these days - pity media reports are saying that this restaurant is being pushed out by Southbank Corporation - the good thing about Southbank is that there is a mix of all types of restaurants - Southbank needs to cater to all visitors - after walking the restaurant strip after our meal we weren't surprised to see that Dell Ugo had more customers than most - a good sign of visitor demand I'd say.
Jennifer dined on Sat, 28th Jun 2014 (10)
There is not many restaurants left in Brisbane that offer the "whole package" fine dining experience and Bacchus is one of the best - innovative menu with food perfectly executed and presented, lush decor with style (comfortable chairs - heaven) and service of a standard that is just near impossible to get these days - appropriately attentive and they know and understand the menu & wine but I think most importantly of all the staff are allowed to let the quirky parts of their personalities shine through. This is what sets their service apart from other Brisbane fine dining restaurants. It is the element that brings back customers time and again - connecting with diners on a personal level. Love, love, love!

Jennifer dined on Sun, 13th Apr 2014 (8)
Always has reliable food and impecible service. Minor disappointment with dessert this visit but as usual the waitstaff gave a masterclass in how to deal with a disappointed customer - the item removed from the bill, sincere apology, all blame accepted and done in a way that there was no embarrassment to the customer - service of this standard is rare these days and should be praised. Been dining here for years and the new owners are keeping up standards.

We have been to Era many times and have always been served beautiful innovative food with impeccable service so tonight experience was a bit of a shock - service was of the usual high standard but the food was not as it has been previously - the entrees were up to mark but the mains were a real disappointment - the execution of the dishes was just not right. When we raised issues they were dealt with professionally and appropriate deductions were made on our bill - a real masterclass on how to deal with disappointed customers - all responsibility taken and no inferences that we were to blame as some restaurants tend to do. Would still recommend - everyone has an off night
Jennifer dined on Sat, 1st Feb 2014 (7)
Food is okay and service is quick - in fact, a little bit too quick - I like to finish eating my entree before my main comes out - there is better Vietnamese food around but the location makes up for the deficiencies.

Jennifer dined on Wed, 18th Dec 2013 (9)
The service at this restaurant was perfection and the food did make us feel like we were back in France at a wonderful local bistro. The river view and breezes also contributed to make it a special meal - just a great experience all round.
Jennifer dined on Sat, 26th Oct 2013 (9)
Era's service is always professional and attentive but their Greek maître d serves with the charm and panache that is sadly lacking in most dining establishments these days. But we keep going back time and again, not only for the service but the standard of the food. My only complaint about Era used to be about the size of the entrees but I was glad to see that this has now been rectified - they now serve a good size portion without losing the interesting and innovative elements that Era's entrees always have. They always have you out on time so it is the perfect venue for a pre-show meal.

Good value lunch options and service
Jennifer dined on Thu, 25th Jul 2013 (7)
This was not the greatest dinning experience - while Alain was clearly a very experienced maitre d, he needs to do some training of the rest in service and personality - I was not really sure whether our waitperson wasn't a robot and a poorly programmed one at that! The food was only above average but the presentation was good but quite expensive for the standard of the food produced. It would also have been nice if our wine had been served before we'd nearly finished our main course - the service was simply not attentive or personable - the restaurant was not busy, so no excuses there. Worth giving a second chance for the view.
Jennifer dined on Thu, 20th Jun 2013 (9)
Era's food, service and vibe is always up to the mark - I only ever have one issue with Era which is while their main courses are a of generous portions their entrees are always very small and expensive - I get tempted every time I go as they are always so interesting but I am always disappointed . Also the amazing cheese course has been removed from the menu but is still listed on the website menu - I had been really looking forward to it - the regular cheese board just doesn't cut it I am afraid - cheeses I can get at any good deli. Otherwise great special occasion restaurant .

It was a sad day when we dined at Tank as it will no longet be a fine dining restaurant - the standards remained hight to the end, beautiful innovative food and amazing service. Should be open again now with a bar format instead of fine dining but it is really disappointing that a restaurant of this quaility couldn't survive in Brisbane - all the best to the wait staff and chefs in their new jobs - hope to see you all again in another fine dining establishment somewhere
Jennifer dined on Wed, 24th Apr 2013 (8)
I have dined at Baguette for many years & have always experienced good food and excellent service but some of the food this visit was not up to their usual high standards. While our entrees was good, the honey with cheese soufflé were beautiful individually they did not go together - a misconceived dish. The main course duck dish was just too sweet - sweet carrot (cold) and a very sweet sauce that should have been balanced by the kale, but the kale was so badly cooked it was inedible. The Pommes Anna was also cold, undercooked and tasteless - the only thing perfectly cooked was the duck. That plate should never have left the kitchen. The fish special was not very special, more of a spring or summer lunch dish but again the main element, the fish, was cooked to perfection. The desserts were perfect and the service was up to their usual high standard. It was supposed to be a special night out for us but was such a disappointment.

I go to Villager regularly and usually the service is good but my lunch visit today was not a success - despite not being busy no-one noticed that we had not been served our food or drinks for 40 minutes until we brought it to the waitress attention. It was immediately rectified but we then only had 15 mins to eat our lunch - we were offered a 10% discount which didn't eventuate when we paid the bill - now being late back to work I lacked the energy to dispute it - food was ok but could hardly tell as i had to eat it that fast. To be fair this is the first bad review I have had to give Villager in about 20 visits.

Jennifer dined on Mon, 24th Dec 2012 (10)
Baguette never disappoints and it didn't this time - you can always judge a chef's skill on how he/she seasons food and how they cook they cook simple things like kale or cabbage (it was perfectly cooked) - I asked how long the salted caramel soufflé would be as I was concerned that it hasn't been called away and I heard the chef say "you can't hurry perfection" - he was telling the truth - it was - as was the service - both wait staff were new to the restaurant but we wouldn't have known unless we'd been told - great Christmas Eve meal.
Jennifer dined on Sat, 17th Nov 2012 (8)
The food, service and price is what you'd expect at a fine dining restaurant but what I didn't expect was a sordid argument over whether they would accept my Entertainment Card - unfortunately they did refuse to honour the card, on the basis that we'd ordered the special menu - I thought it a bit mean as we'd ordered a number of extra drinks and other extras in addition to the special menu, especially when comparable restaurants like Tank, Baguette, Restaurant 2 and Era have deducted an amount from special menus for us in the same circumstances. Baguette and Restaurant 2 even let us use our Entertainment Card on the same night when we had a Dimmi Reward Voucher. It is a pity as the food and service was exceptional but it is this type thing that tips the balance to another restaurant when I am deciding to where to revisit.

Innovative food, professional faultless service and an excellent selective wine list - Tank is in a class of its own in Brisbane

Jennifer dined on Thu, 6th Sep 2012 (8)
Restaurant II is a special restaurant - you go there for an experience and you get it. The menu focuses on experience food. As you would expect everything was cooked beautifully - we had the deguestation menu and everything on the 10 course plates was cooked to perfection; however, some of the combinations, while innovative and interesting, just resulted in too many confusing flavours on the plate that detracted from the high quality produce which was the outstanding feature of each dish. The wine choices made by the sommelier were perfect - he understands food and wine combinations - special meals are made with good wine matches and we had a special meal.

The Point was aleady on its last chance with me & it has had it - same old problems - menu descriptions that don't correctly describe the dish & worse still, the best menu items not available - the menu has been revamped and the food has improved enormously but not enough for me to go back again

Have been to The Point quite a few times now & I can say that, as always, it was "nice" - but the food never gets beyond that and as always there were service glitches. The menu hasn't changed since at least October last year & with only one special option (that turned out to be not that special) I am not sure I can find something on the limited and basic menu that I can eat if I visit again that I already haven't eaten & did not particularly like! The other problem is that the food which appears on the plate does not always match the menu descriptions - eg if you don't like spinach or asparagus it is disconcerting to find it on the plate when it was not listed in the menu!

They were trying very hard to make the food more interesting but many of the dishes were just misconcieved and poorly executed.
