This is fast becoming my regular haunt for weekly lunch out. The serves are generous and very reasonably priced. Today I had the chicken schnitzel with salad and chips and gravy - the gravy was definitely home made, and delicious. The chicken was a house-crumbed regular fillet of chicken (definitely not prepackaged). My friend had the ragu and she raved about it - I'll be trying that next time! Will keep coming back for sure!

down off the street, 43 Below is a bit of a pub, but not a grungy pub. We had the lunch special ($20 ribs chips and salad) and I couldn't finish it! Salad was serviceable coleslaw with a bit of everything, and the ribs serving was huge, meaty and tender. Chips were really good! Mid week lunch with colleagues would be great here. I will be back.

A little different to the description. A typical australian pub. A TAB would be quite at home. The portions were a little small, but mine was very tasty. Great for a cheap eat. Congenial Irish bar staff and a few crusty older regulars. A pleasant lunch with four of us.

Unfortunately it is not worthy of a city location, the atmosphere is tired and old fashioned like a neighbourhood pub, needs a bit of modernising.

Great place, as expected from previous reviews. Small, unpretentious, good fish and chips and drinks. Friendly staff. Well definitely come back next time we're in Perth.

About 43 Below Restaurant Lounge & Bar

Take the Plunge. On Barrack Street, in the middle of the city, just opposite the Town Hall, you will find a staircase going down below street level. It´s always an exciting moment, if you haven´t been down a staircase like this before, to discover what´s at the bottom. It could turn out to be a very dodgy establishment - but instead it´s a bright, beautifully designed, all-purpose bar and restaurant. You can´t help wishing there were more places like this in Perth. If you want to come in for a quiet drink after work, the wine list is exemplary and the cocktails on offer are highly tempting. The service is friendly and easy-going, and you may well decide to stay for dinner after all. If so, you´ll find a great range of contemporary Australian cuisine such as sweet potato gnocchi, leek and bacon pot pie, or tender ridge scotch fillet cooked to perfection. Best dish: Mixed Calamari in Fennel Seed
