Butter chicken? No way! Since it burst onto Sydney’s dining scene in a blaze of flavour in 1990, Ahbi’s has been a foodie destination (despite its further-afield location in North Strathfield). Ahbi’s excellent south Indian menu refrains from trotting out lists of madras and mango chicken, and instead offers truly authentic dishes such as alu tikki potato patties with chickpea masala and sweet and sour tamarind sauce and a sweet, tender goat curry. If you’re there with a large group opt for the banquet menu, it can easily cater for a group of any size. Expect an Indian dining experience like one you’ve never had before (and by that we mean there’s no butter chicken on the menu). Best Dish: chicken makhni.
