The service and food provided was definitely not value for money. Granted the sashimi was fresh, the grilled fish & meat were over cooked; seasoning was not consistent and the food was not innovative. The head waitress (not in uniform) provided terrible services to its guests.
Lovely atmosphere and environment. Food was well presented. Service was good, but not amazing. We came for a birthday (and mentioned this when booking) but this was not even acknowledged on the day. I emailed a week before the booking with a query regarding service of alcohol because of a note on the booking confirmation but never received a response. Was told upon arrival that they are in the process of renewing their wine list, and so the drinks menu was limited (and it was very limited). We ordered warm sake, and once finished asked for the same thing again but was then presented with cold sake. We had a pleasant night, but considering the price tag the service and just seemed a little lacking.
Fantastic experience, unfortunately they weren’t serving alcohol at the time but overall food and service was great.
We sat at the sushi bench and enjoyed the service and attention to detail with the presentation of food. Delicious flavours, highly recommend.
Staff needed to be a bit more attentive regarding refilling the tables water - I had to ask 3 times for a refill. Everything else was amazing. The food was brilliant.
Sam (chef) that looked after us for the robatayaki degustation was a real delight and made it a great dining experience.
Food was really nice. High quality
Having booked al a carte, we were ushered to 4 stools at the sushi bar. We were catching up with friends and didn’t book the sushi bar. 20 mins After voicing our disapproval we given a booth in the downstairs bar. (Not a dinner table) After a lengthy wait(it’s now after 9.15 we finally got a drink and menu. After a couple of entrees we were moved to a table in the restaurant, staff apologies and not charged for drinks. The staff did their best to manage the situation and were apologetic. My advice is if you book on line don’t expect a table. My suggestion is that fork needs to display sushi bar or table service as their booking options so this doesn’t happen to others. The 2 sitting policy needs to be better planned as this was one of the reasons given for our bar seating, as well as several other reasons. Once again , the staff handled a difficult situation well in the end, whilst we also showed great restraint as many would have walked out!
Sit back and enjoy the workings of the kitchen when you're seated at the Robata Counter. Great night of entertainment and absolutely fantastic guilt-free food! Oh, and you've got to accompany your meal with one of the great sakes on offer.
Music could be not so loud and maybe more suitable , But will definitely be back food was great .
Lovely service and all very delicately prepared. Food was fresh and filling however may be considered overpriced. Japanese food in Melbourne is good but this is quite special.
My eel was bit pale, good atmosphere though
A different type of omakase experience with yakitori style grilled meats.
Robatayaki omakase experience was great. The food and service were excellent! We really enjoyed it!
Had the omakase which was great with attentive service, however we did have to wait half an hour for our booked table
Thanks to Hugo for a wonderful experience. His knowledge of the menu was outstanding, his professionalism and enthusiasm for the food added to the dining experience at akaiito.
