Consistently good food. Staff members welcomed us with smiles, were polite and eager to please. We had to wait a little while for the last few dishes ordered as part or our Just Feed Me deal to appear but, all in all, I highly recommend Akiba. It's my go to place when friends from interstate visit Canberra.

I have been to Akiba on a few occasions and every time I go the service, food, cocktails and atmosphere are excellent. If you are into asian-fusion cuisine then Akiba is a must for your trip to Canberra. I will definitely be back again!

My partner and I visited this restaurant for my birthday. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. We felt welcomed and the staff has explained us the foods and drinks, so we did not feel anxious.

Great food, reasonable meal prices. The Sake was too expensive to justify trying it. Great atmosphere, great service. The oyster pancakes were delicious and I recommend them.

We were visiting Canberra on the weekend and stumbled across this restaurant because of its raving reviews. We were a bit late as we were unfamiliar with the area but was called by the restaurant who held the table for us. When we arrived, the lady who showed us to our table, I found, was slightly rude however the night’s service was ok. We opted for the tasting menu pp however dishes were slightly smaller than what we’re used to but we were quite full surprisingly towards the end. I also don’t think it catered for kids very well. Would we go back? Probably not. There was nothing special about the dishes. It was nice however not amazing. Good experience.

The actual food was good. Seating was very uncomfortable for an hour + session. (Stools and benches). Music was at a level that made conversation impossible (both inside and in the outdoor area). My meal arrived some twenty min after my companion's, and I had to chase a waitress for it. That said, they offered a free drink over it, and the waitress was excellent. Poor design for a restaurant. If you want to hang out and look trendy to passers by, this is probably the place. But comfortable eating and a place to have a discussion, nah.

Friendly service. Our meals came out a bit quick but one of the waiters, Josh, helped us out by putting the main meals back under the heat lamp. It allowed us to sit there and enjoy the meal. Food is always delicious

Food was delicious and yummy cocktails. But, the service was really lacking. Our drinks took a while to get after ordering and only arrived after the wait staff checked where they were. One starter dish arrived and then we got the rest of our dishes in one go (without finishing our starter). Then half way through our meal we got told there was another booking for our table in half an hour. We were not told there was a time limit to our reservation when booking it but even so, the wait staff asked us to leave after 1hr and 15 minutes so the next table could be seated. This did not create a hospitable or welcoming experience. We will not return or be recommending this restaurant.

Love the food, service was excellent though the bar stool style seating is uncomfortable.

The food was lovely but we were rushed out - unaware that we could only stay for 90 minutes. We didn’t even get offered desserts And was constantly reminded to hurry up. It felt so rude, we should have been made aware of this when we booked.

Staff were very nice, good vibe and absolutely love the music ! Food was very good, I thought the fried rice could have been drier, but that’s my personal preference, overall it was good experience

Third visit at Akiba, good dining experience as always. Savoury food, friendly staff and Sunday-chill vibes. Might come visit again after a good workout though.

We love Akiba, however it is starting to suffer from its own success: its always full, and the music is a bit too loud. The food is brilliant and the staff always go above and beyond!

Second visit in 2 weeks. One lunch one dinner. Food is inventive and very tasty. Pleasant and helpful staff. For both degustations food comes a bit too quick. Although the food is great I think they want turnover as opposed to supplying a grest dining experience. A quick lunch is the best way to experience Akiba.

The food was absolutely fantastic and the staff were attentive. The peking duck dumplings, kingfish sashimi and pork belly buns were a standout. Highly recommended.

About the restaurant

Trending

Akiba was popular from inception, and it’s not hard to see why - the vibe is electric, the noise level is right up, the decor is bright and exciting, and the food is damn delicious. And it’s not only the Canberra locals who are loving this place, it has also been recently acknowledged by the Good Food Guide as one of Canby's best eats and we’re sure it will keep growing from strength to strength. The menu and serving style is relaxed, designed to mimic the food halls and dining rooms of East Asia. The food itself showcases the many styles of Asian barbecue, raw bar and modern day dim sum and the eclectic menu is supported by an equally exciting drinks menu which features exotic cocktails and tap and craft beers - the cocktail of the month is always a safe bet. Come and see why Akiba is trending - what are you waiting for?

Best dish: black angus sirloin, chipotle butter, zuni pickled onion.
