Somer Sivrioglu

In 2007, Somer opened his first restaurant, Efendy, in Sydney’s Balmain. In 2015, Somer co-authored his first cookbook, Anatolia: Adventures in Turkish Cooking, with David Dale.Somer opened his second restaurant, Anason, in Sydney’s Barangaroo harbourfront precinct in 2016. As a mark of his success, he is now one of the key judges on the new2018 MasterChef Turkey, a franchise of the international hit show.

Anason is a great favourite of mine, my friends and colleagues. The food is delicious and different to the norm. The service is great, lovely ambience and a good location. It is where I go back to time and time again and I always recommend as a place to go to.

We have been to Anason a few times now and it never disappoints!! Loved all the food and wine, bbq octopus was amazing! We will be back.

In this waterfront location Sivrioglu and his team of young Turkish chefs deliver a truly authentic Anatolian experience, serving the rich culture, colour, vibrancy and hospitality of Sivrioglu’s home city on a plate - all by the water. Given the setting the menu is more influenced by the sea that his first restaurant, Efendy but it’s part of this restaurant's charm. It’s different to what he’s done before. Modelled on the casual meyhanes and drinking bars of Turkey be transported to Sivrioglu's homeland for a truly wonderful dining experience. Welcoming everyone into his restaurant, not as a diner, but as a guest to his ‘home’, Sivrioglu has a seat at a table waiting for you.
