Somer Sivrioglu

In 2007, Somer opened his first restaurant, Efendy, in Sydney’s Balmain. In 2015, Somer co-authored his first cookbook, Anatolia: Adventures in Turkish Cooking, with David Dale.Somer opened his second restaurant, Anason, in Sydney’s Barangaroo harbourfront precinct in 2016. As a mark of his success, he is now one of the key judges on the new2018 MasterChef Turkey, a franchise of the international hit show.

We used a fork redeem voucher ad Anason. We were really excited about the night and it was ok really! The greeting was a bit rushed considering it wasn’t so busy. It was very cold outside and we knew there were seatings outside only, but we weren’t offered any blanket. Service was a bit weird. Staff not trained (or maybe just new) and food was served altogether to share (as I said, being cold outside, we would have preferred having one at the time to enjoy the food warm at least). We enjoyed our dinner after all but not sure we would go back in winter time for dinner.

Their Humus is very impressive. The Baklava is very authentic, because it is directly imported from Turkey every week.

Given the setting the menu is more influenced by the sea that his first restaurant, Efendy but it’s part of this restaurant's charm. It’s different to what he’s done before. Modelled on the casual meyhanes and drinking bars of Turkey be transported to Sivrioglu's homeland for a truly wonderful dining experience. Welcoming everyone into his restaurant, not as a diner, but as a guest to his ‘home’, Sivrioglu has a seat at a table waiting for you.
