This was our second visit to Apera. Again we had delicious food including the lamb, and chicken dishes and lemon myrtle vodka tart. The service was outstanding. We had a fabulous night!

It was my second time at Apera. Excellent food, wine and service. It's great to have such a good restaurant in Castlecrag.

Very average food. At least the service was above average. Won't be coming back.

A neighbourhood gem. Love the veggies cooked in the wood fired oven ! We had Ocean trout which was very nice. Nor cheap but worth it, and there is often food specials. We will be back !

I really enjoyed the roasted chicken and lamb, they were cooked perfectly and tasted incredible however the oysters for starters came pre-drizzled with vinegerette which there wasn't enough of (prefer a pot on the side that we can pour ourselves). The brussel sprouts were delicious too but wouldn't call it a starter and would have them as a side next time with the meat dishes. Highly recommend ordering sides as the menu sounded like there would be enough veg on each dish but there isn't, the artichoke on the lamb dish for example is actually a puree. The desserts were an absolute disappointment. With only 3 to choose from there were slim pickings to begin with and the choices we made (the apple and the chocolate options) both were abysmal. Normally desserts are a safe bet but for the second time ever I took one bite of each desserts and called it a day.

Excellent food done either in a wood fire oven or on a rotisserie. Chicken was amazing, so was the whole fish. Good service. Very different beers

Literally one of the worst dining experiences I've had in recent memory. Was greeted by a less than cheery maitre'd who sat us (a couple) next to a large family with kids in high chairs (even though the restaurant was basically empty). We asked to move to sit at the bar and was met with a look of puzzlement and also a defensive answer ("well if you REALLY want to, I guess you can"). Awkward. Kitchen and bar staff all dressed like they'd just rolled out of bed with sloppy t-shirts on. All standing around like they would rather be dead than working there. They looked utterly bored. Bar tender kept throwing down his glasses/accoutrements banging around etc even though we were sitting a foot away and he kept yelling out to his kitchen mates. Entree was fine (no real flavour in the zucchini fritters) and before we had even finished swallowing our last mouthful, our main course was slammed down in front of us - I swear to god they couldn't even have the grace to let us finish our entree even though there was hardly anyone in the place. Main was the half chicken with roast potatoes and gravy and a side salad. The fries we ordered never appeared. The chicken and potatoes were so dry I could have used them as weapons. I let the wait staff know and they gave us new potatoes and a complimentary cabbage salad which was (I'm sorry but it's true) incredibly lacklustre. Everything seemed to be covered in the same tahini-type dressing. We didn't bother staying for dessert. I cannot begin to describe how the images you see on social media and the reality of this place are two totally separate worlds. The service was sloppy, the food was awful (better chicken at Charcoal Charlies) and the highlight of the night was knowing I could grab groceries next door at the friendly IGA. Sorry - would highly advise not dining there.
