We had the five course menu with a great bottle of Central Otago Pinot Noir. All dishes were tasty, imaginative and beautifully presented, except the poached cuttlefish which was disappointing. Outstanding service.

Staff was lovely and informative, majority of the food was delicious. some were interesting to try but not favourites, due to personal preferences. Overall lovely experience with minor minor things to work on.

Amazing food, we were pleasantly surprised as weren't sure what to expect really from the descriptions on the menu. We would definitely come back again.

We had a lovely evening, we were celebrating a family reunion and the staff catered to special requests and was fully aware of the situation. Service is always good, every waiter is trained in the menu and everyone is always keen to help. The wine was fantastic as was the degustation. 10/10 would come back.

It’s a bustling place full of life and conversation. Music not too loud and not too intrusive. Service was attentive. They gave me the wrong drink. I didn’t mind. But they later same back and realised and took it off the bill automatically. Perhaps serving the dishes was a bit rushed on the degustation. But good serving sizes and very innovative tastes.

About Automata

Flooring it! The guys at Automata have got their foot on the gasl and there’s no sign of them stopping. Ex Momofuku sous chef Clayton Wells has kept his new restaurant venture well under wraps but now it's open and ready to serve. This is Wells' first solo restaurant and he brings a movable approach to a frequently changing Mod-Oz/European style five-course menu. The food is a reflection of the dining room which exerts a sense of freedom and energy that's addictive. Come and experience this new Chippo sensation. Best dish: come and decide for yourself!
