Great food - need a bit of refreshing salad to accompany the heavy meat dishes.

Always prompt, attentive and friendly service. Like the ability to leave choices to waiters. Always provide a good and matched food selection.

Fantastic quality food and service. We had a really great time and enjoyed the atmosphere. Highlights were the charcuterie, croquettes, octopus & doughnuts.

Best modern Spanish food in town! Enviable selection of wines and great service!

Come here regularly for casual dinners near work. We enjoy all the Tapavino restaurants and Balcon is great for its al fresco area and atmosphere. One of our favourites for modern Spanish flavours.

Unusually we had a bit of a hit and miss experience at Balcon - normally brilliant we found the service patchy in parts and some dishes were wonderful while others were fine. The jambon was amazing (of course!) and both the cabbage salad and eggplant dishes were great. By contrast the calamari and octopus dishes were not memorable. They do, however, have a great wine list with Sydney’s best collection of Sherries.

That is with 30% off the food. All in all, everything was very good. My only complaint is the service was a liitle bit on the pushy side, though she was knowledgeable about the menu.

Love Balcon By Tapavino. I find the wine list a little confusing, however staff are quite knowledgeable. When a wine list confuses the staff, in its setting out, it's time to simplify it. We had a similar issue at Osteria Ilaria in Melbourne.
Hi Peta, Many thanks for your visit and positive review. In regards to the wine list, it seems confusing but most people don’t know anything about Spanish wine or the regions. A Tempranillo from Rioja will be different from a Tempranillo in Toro or Ribera del Duero. Some people like wines that have spent time in barrel, some others don’t. This is why we have the symbols - Triangle (light bodied) Circle (medium bodied) Square (full-bodied) Barrels signified each 6 months in a barrel. A juicy Grenache wine from Navarra will have more fruit than a Grenache from Madrid. I hope this helps a bit, as it helps us know what the wine is like, amongst the many on the list. We look Forward in seeing you again soon. Regards, Frank
