The dishes served is absolutely one of the best, especially the pork knuckle, it knocked me out. The beer was superb too, had a nice time However it is very recommended to book before going, since the place was filled after 5.45
I made a booking and when I first walked in and asked where my table was, the lady was dismissive and told me that I needed to find it myself. I was shocked! I cannot believe she said that. I was taken aback and felt that it was very rude. Not a good impression as soon as you walk in the door. Poor service from waitstaff and had to constantly flag them down or go up to the bar to order which was not ideal as we had a table. Service was insufficient and quite busy. Fortunately the bartenders were friendly and they have a good happy hour
Wasn’t very happy took forever to get our drinks that long they were taken off the bill! We got moved after we had already booked the table and whist the entire time we were there no one sat in our original table.
Had my birthday dinner here. Excellent drinks and variety of food. Very generous portions and the staff were lovely enough to provide us with takeaway boxes so we didn’t have to waste food we didn’t finish. Although it was only moderately busy there were a few times it took a while to flag down a waiter/waitress, but the genuine helpfulness and friendliness of the staff was definitely a highlight. Vibrant atmosphere, good for parties but not if you’re looking for a quiet place to chat.
The food is good but the service is ordinary especially the App to order food and drinks. It was faster to order through the waiters than the App and there is no surcharge to pay by cash. But it was harder to get the waiter's attention to take our orders. We had been there before this change, definitely did not like this change. We think it was a worse experience than before.
This place has lost its German character. Entertainment was not great and the atmosphere is not what it used to be. It’s a pity as I have been a regular for years before it changed name. Mind you the food is still good.
We went for Octoberfest celebration as it was the last day of Oktoberfest which they advertised, and there were many people but the service was very bad, the live music was too loud you couldn't even talk to each other, and it just didnt have any German atmosphere at all. Food was good though but it's not always about the food.
Very noisy environment - perhaps reduce the noise bounce rate from other customers by consulting a noise control internal designer or an acoustic engineer. Thank you.
Nobody tended to our table throughout the whole time. We waited for 1 hour and 20 minutes for food which is fine when it’s busy I understand. But nobody came to check on us or offer us more drinks when we had finished them very quickly. The first person we asked for an update on our food after 45 minutes never returned to tell us. So we had to wave someone else down to ask. Don’t think I will take clients there again because I need good service for that.
Food is delicious, especially like that you have a choice to make your own salad/wrap!
Great food and generous portions.
Good food and reasonable value
The food was not bad but also not really good, it was very long .. just served on our table 40 minutes after we ordered it, and the waitress forgot the coke and it was coming when our lunch is almost done.
Really good service. Lots of foods and delicious
The seats for 2 along the wall are a bit close together. It felt like we were eating with our neighbours. Definitely not ideal for a business meeting! Service was good though
Went there as a big group. We had a good time. There are large jugs of beer and plenty of meaty dishes to choose from. The one vegetarian did have a wrap. The service was great.
Good food with good service and value.
Great fun place
Great wings and beer
Excellent vibe, very friendly attendants, good food portions except the fish and chips... go there for the meats!

A corporate escape.
While some CBD workers choose to end a day at the office with a taste of public transport, we prefer to conclude the day with a satisfying stein. And while others often opt for a sango at their desk during lunch, we can never pass up a good ol’ schnitzel. If you share our mentality stroll on down to Bavarian Bier Cafe on York Street where all your Bavarian prayers will be answered… they’ve got schnitzels, haus-made hot dogs, burgers and much much more!
Best dish: The famous Crispy Pork knuckle.
