- Value for money
If you want glitz and glamour, and mouth-wateringly good French cuisine, head to Sydney’s Woollahra – Bistro Moncur is where it’s at. Settle yourself under the wood-panelled dome panel of a roof and you’ll be presented with a wine list that France itself would be proud of. The restaurant boasts chic black and white murals of diners from the distant past on the walls, white-starched table linen and a wide-ranging wine list that can pare itself beautifully with whatever morsel you choose on the menu. Bistro Moncur is great for romantic dates or a treat-yourself mid-week meal when you want to transport yourself from bustling Queen Street to the romantic promenade of the Champs-Élysées. The dinner menu will rarely exceed 25 items – what they do, they do well and that’s why Bistro Moncur has been famous for its top-dining experience since its opening in 1993. The pork is served alongside impossibly fluffy potato puree, the salmon is marinated in Sauvignon Blanc and the sirloin with café de Paris melts in your mouth.
