The steak is fantastic as always but the confit duck is really average. The wine list is not extensive, tried to order a couple of pinot noir, two of the five options were out of stock.

Best steak in town You can’t go wrong when you head somewhere that has been named as one of the best steak houses in the state, and The Black Angus Bar and Grill has that to offer and more. Located in lovely Sanctuary Cove, this slick restaurant showcases its meat offerings on modern, interesting tableware and in smart surrounds. The bar has a splash of colour with its backlit blue walls, and a fabulous offering of cocktails, wines and chilled local and imported beers to enjoy with your fine-dining fare. Chef Zain Sallaway has used the very best meat products on hand – a great starter is the meat antipasto-style platter with beautiful jamon, bresaola, and a homemade sopressa. Add a splash of seafood with Trawler Prawns, or Hervey Bay Scallops or if you feel like a pasta then maybe the black truffle gnocchi is for you. Their décor is modern and trimmed in warm wooden slat style roofing, and intimate lighting helps to keep the focus on the food and your dining companion. If you decide to come as a group then the set menu may be the way to avoid too many difficult decisions as they suggest a 2, 3 or 4 course option at a reasonable price. Best dish: Chargrilled octopus; or a steak, of course
