Had eaten there before twice. On this occasion it was a special aged birthday and wanted to impress a relative. Got their ontime and had to wait for almost 10 minutes despite having a reservation. Had nowhere to wait so the 4 of us stood there near other diners - no waiting area, why? Asked the waiter to adjust the heating because we felt like we were in Siberia - he did nothing about it! Ordered some food and when it came the waiter did not announce it was a single serve. He should know! When they served some entres they didn't provide small plates. Why did we have to ask for such basic things? It's clear that service personnel are poorly taught these days or their employers just don't care. When I am paying close to $70 per head I expect good service! Luck they food was great, but I'm not in a rush to go back to poor service.

Had the Special selection. In Canberra from Sydney. Really enjoy the menu choice. Food was cooked fresh and came hot to the table. Staff explained the food as presented.

What an amazing find Black Fire was. Our meal was truly a 10 out of 10 and so too was the whole experience. I would highlighly recommend Black Fire as the food, service and atmosphere certainly exceeded our expectations....Thank you for a fabulous evening.

The restaurant was cold and the waiter was quite frankly bored at repeating the specials. He said them so quickly, that we couldn't take all the information in (and hence didn't order any). My meal was stingy - $35 for a tiny duck breast and no vegetables. We ordered three sides to share, but I still left the restaurant feeling hungry. Disappointing.

Disappointing meal, not as good as on previous occasions. Average food, not bad just lacking in flavour. Service polite but impersonal. Will try somewhere else next time.

We chose a degustation menu (mains and dessert), and the food was excellent. While the lamb was bordering on being a touch dry (not bad, just not as moist as I'd hoped), the suckling pork was truly amazing. Every dish we were served was well presented and full of flavour, and there was a good amount of food - nothing wasted, yet we were certainly well fed. Only one very minor comment for improvement would be that one of our chairs felt a little rickety - not unsafe by any means, but the the joints were noticeably getting loose. Great restaurant if you are looking for excellent food and great service, while still having a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

About Black Fire

“Fuego negro!” Black Fire offers an exciting and innovative take on Mediterranean cuisine. Their dishes are wonderfully well thought-out and presented, inspired by their culture and their love of cooking. Meats, seafoods and vegetables are cooked through an open fire roast. This is the highlight of their meals - it’s incredibly authentic and unique. Located in Braddon, Black Fire is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner so it is perfect for any occasion. Best dish: Arroz Caldoso - King prawns with saffron and pimenton.
