We had a delicious lunch overlooking the vineyards. We did some wine tastings first and then sat and enjoyed our lunch. A lovely friendly winery with a fantastic setting. We will definitely go back.
Food was amazing!
We were not served for 15 mins. No water was offered. Had to ask. Couldn’t not understand the waitress. And the order was wrong upon arrival food arrived at different times .
Excellent food and service. A great place to relax and take in the view
Amazing food, great service, great atmosphere with live music made for a fantastic lunch.
We had made a booking online, and on arrival we were told that the booking hadn't been received. (It probably hadn't been transferred from a computer to the hand-written list at the desk.) No problem; we were shown to a table, and we waited. And waited. Eventually someone showed up, placed a bottle of water and two glasses on the table, and left without saying anything. So we waited some more. After about fifteen minutes, another person arrived and took our orders. From then on, things started improving. Our drinks arrived promptly, followed almost immediately by the entrées. My wife had prawns in a creamy garlic and chilli sauce with a tiny portion of jasmine rice. Mine was a mélange of escargots sautéed in a ragu of shallots, parsley, garlic and red wine jus, and glazed with truffle oil, served on three slices of garlic baguette. Both dishes were attractively presented, and both were fresh and tasty. Wine matches are suggested on the menu, and we followed those recommendations. We weren’t disappointed. Things started to deteriorate around the time the live music started. The singer (somewhere in the venue; we couldn’t see her) accompanying herself on a guitar, has a very melancholy-sounding voice, and her repertoire seemed to consist of equally melancholy, often downright dreary music. Add to that the hard acoustic of the restaurant, and a nearby table of boisterous diners, and you have an unpleasant dining experience. Both of us had ordered Black Angus Scotch fillet, served with dauphinoise potatoes, steamed greens and a red wine jus. Nothing short of sensational! Beautifully presented, perfectly grilled and totally delicious, this was certainly the highlight of our meal. We decided to forgo the dessert, which we had been looking forward to, because by that time the noise had become unbearable. We mentioned this to the lady who had been attending to our table. She agreed that the noise was a problem, and commented that noisy guests seem to be an increasing occupational hazard for hospitality workers and other customers. In summary: Pros: Great food and wine, excellent presentation, good service (once it gets going). Cons: Noise. Recommendation: Go there. Go for the food, go for the wine, and go for the ambience. Just don’t go when there’s live music.
This was my first time at Black Swan, and I found the venue situated in a lovely, quiet setting, the atmosphere was relaxed and easy, the staff were very attentive and the food and wine were great, as was the cost. I would recommend The Black Swan as the perfect place for that leisurely lunch with friends.
Food was great. Good service and choice. Definitely recommend.
Never fails to disappoint. Our go to place for special occasions. I always know I can have a great choice to suit my dietary requirements!
Good food, wine and service with a lovely view.
The food was outstanding, and the views were to match
The Restaurant is quite noisy inside making it difficult to speak to each other -it needs some form of acoustic sound deadening material on walls and maybe ceiling to dull things down a bit ! Service was a little slow in taking bookings -but the food delivery was prompt and nicely plated up .
Would be nice to see the décor on the walls cleaned of dust and cobwebs and brought into a modern country look would be nice, looks quite old-fashioned and run down inside.
Very pleasant birthday lunch in a wonderful setting Excellent food, terrific service and their wines were wonderful ...they even gave me a bottle as a birthday gift to take home We will definitely be visiting fo lunch again
The food was very enjoyable. Good value for money and service was quick. We went mid week so was very quiet. Would like to experience on a busy night to compare.
Beautiful view , great food and service
Great service. Beautiful location with lovely views over the vineyard. Food was outstanding. Small kitchen putting out the best food in the valley! On par with restaurants in the city.
Good food well priced Good views
Great food and wine. Will definitely go again.
Excellent service and delicious meal! We dined on New Years Eve and received a complimentary glass of champagne on arrival which just added a nice touch to the whole dining experience. All the meals we had were absolutely delicious! The service was attentive but not intrusive which we appreciated and the views from the restaurant are stunning! Thanks Black Swan, we will be back again!
