Coconut and spinach curry, roasted eggplant and heirloom carrots, young coconut, Ingelara holy basil
Grilled iron steak, grilled red spring onions, celery gravy and fresh y shaved horseradish
Slow cooked duck breast, fresh local cherries, black garlic puree
The mains serving sizes here were too small for dishes described as "Substantial" and not quite special enough for the price. A pleasant-enough evening, but not with any sense of generosity and relaxedness.
The staff were excellent and the venue was amenable to good conversation, having no echo effect from hard surfaces. The menu was distinguished by little meat compared to the usual menu (which tends to have too much meat and almost no vegetables) and contained uncommon ingredients. Despite our reservations, the food was delicious without exception.
Menu much improved from some years ago. Pleasantly surprised.
Very good standard of food and atmosphere .
This is our ladies' group's periodical meeting place for dinner. Easy parking, quiet environment and atmosphere. Been to this restaurant so many times.
Charming, old world yet contemporary and cosy. Terrific team of staff. Good food, good drinks menu. Do go.
Great food and catered well to dietary requests. Excellent service
great place and service. great wine
I've been eating at Boffins for about 30 years or more, often for lunch and sometimes for dinner, and it was always my favourite restaurant. I haven't been there for the last two years, so it was a surprise to see the refurbishment. I miss the former lunch menu, it was always difficult to make a choice as there were many attractive dishes on offer. I was disappointed by the menu yesterday, it seemed there wasn't much too choose from that I wanted to eat; but the meal was OK, although my companion's fish appeared undercooked and she left some of it. I think Boffins has gone a little too "trendy" unfortunately. A few years ago I took a well-travelled colleague, an international marketing manager from a large UK company, there for lunch and he declared it was the best restaurant he'd ever been to, which confirmed my opinion, but I doubt he'd say the same today. I think something has been lost in the "upgrade".
The service might need improvement.
Quiet, pleasant, tasteful and relaxing atmosphere with excellent and personal service
It was a very relaxing and enjoyable evening. The staff were fantastic.
Enjoyed the evening greatly. Thanks
we had friends from Sydney, who eat out a lot, and they said the food was as good as you would find in Sydney. They were very impressed.
Great meal (as expected)
Food excellent, local produce, service generally good but sometimes can be patchy without a reason.
A good repeat restaurant.
Great menu. Great local produce
Needed rice with my curry! Other guests very pleased with quality of food. Service somewhat inconsistent but the four wait staff were very busy. Nil muzak a real plus.

Boffins was extensively renovated in 2018 to provide a modern contemporary dining experience.
Boffins at University House is the flagship restaurant with a focus on paddock to plate dining and serving the best of Canberra Region and Australian wines whilst showcasing artwork and sculpture from across the University. The bar also stocks a wide range of artisan spirits and local craft beers providing diners with a unique selection.
Our chefs are in regular contact with our local farmers and suppliers and source food directly from farm gates where possible. Menus can change daily, based on supply and are ever evolving as our dedicated kitchen team works to display the produce on offer. Diners may select a la carte or try a 'feed me' menu and let the kitchen take them on a food journey.
