Follow your bliss When Bombay Bliss Caloundra owner and restauranteur Sunny moved to Brisbane almost 20 years ago, he saw the need for an authentic fine Indian dining experience. Moreover, so began the journey to establish what has become arguably the best north Indian, south Indian and 100% Halal-certified restaurants in greater Brisbane. It is easy to see why. Regulars rave about the service, which they say is excellent, the spiciness of the offerings and the lovely atmosphere. They also remark on the freshness of the fare as it is made to order and that “nothing is too much trouble” for the wait staff and owner who, they say, is a “wonderful host”. We’re tempted by the intriguingly-named Bollywood prawns and beef Malibu curry with, you guessed it, a splash of Malibu coconut rum, along with chunks of coconut and mild spices. Or perhaps the Prawn Bliss, where the prawns are lightly marinated with garlic, ginger, lemon juice and mild spices before being simmered in a creamy tomato gravy with crushed almonds, cashews, and a hint of butter. If it sounds mouth- watering, that’s probably because it is! Best dish: Karachi prawns - King prawns marinated with spices and lemon, battered in cornflour and deep-fried and served with tamarind and mint chutneys
