Value for money

The fire alarm sounded very early into our meal . There was a P.A. announcement followed by stall annoncements, very well handled. We thought the choice of seafood was limited in comparison to previous visits, but nonetheless superb.

We shouted our mother a High Tea at Brasserie on the River for her 80th birthday on Tuesday. Beautiful setting, fabulous hospitality and friendly, courteous service. I was extremely disappointed however in the high tea. The tea and coffee were lukewarm and the high tea treats were bland and tasted a day old. It was beautifully presented but the scones were dry. For $37 per person I did not feel it was value for money. I won't be recommending it to others unfortunately.

Over priced for a seafood buffet expected more seafood to pick from

Beautiful outlook on the river. At $75, the seafood buffet (evening) is a bit expensive but well worth the investment for a special occasion. Buffet breakfast is excellent and reasonably priced. Delicious food, with a variety of options. Awesome omelettes made-to-order.

I was really pleased that they were so accommodating with my request and set out to make my mum's birthday a little extra special. Very nice.

Seafood was great but the diversity & quality of other buffet options was lacking. Service was somewhat hit and miss across the night. E.g. We received no introduction to the buffet - just seated and had to figure it out. I used to think this was one of Brisbane's top Buffets but feel standards have fallen and will likely be looking elsewhere next time.

Some of the foods just weren’t very nice, was supposed to be a buffet but 1 of the items was near impossible to grab and was never refilled (macaron tower, with them attached with chocolate so they just crumbled)

Went there for breakfast and had a great experience. Was nearly there for 4 hours, the time flew by, I had a Nintendo with me as well to help time pass while I let food settle before I went back for more. Great selection and variety of food available, was very impressed with the presentation and quality. $35 for full buffet, $30 if you don't want hot food but I recommend paying the extra. I also recommend going there withing the first 2 hours, I tried cereal and juice again after 9am and the milk and juice were room temperature by that stage. I really like how just about everything is gluten free or vegetarian, a very tasty and healthy breakfast. There is an omelette station where someone will make omelette's or eggs how you want them whether it's poached or another way with quite a few different food option to go into the omelette. I mentioned to the lady making them that I wish I could do that at home, they never turn of right for me. I really loved the eggs benedict, the soft boiled egg was perfect and runny yolk tasted fantastic. Toast station has wholemeal, white, fruit/raisen and muffin you can put into a machine to toast. They also had a lot of kellogg's cereal and good old weet bix plus lots of oats, nuts and fruits. Plenty of Dilmah tea options, quite a few juice options as well. I liked a lot of their fruit and also tried quite a few different cheeses they had, the salmon was nice, I have it every night at home for dinner. The staff were very friendly, I got to interact with quite a number of them. Very quite and enjoyable atmosphere as well, might have been 10-15 people max at a time, you can sit inside or enjoy the river view outside and grab extra coffee type drinks at a barista for a price. I highly recommend having breakfast here, so good and so healthy :)

Perfect combinations of good food, good view, good ambience and good service. What more can you ask for?

About Brasserie on the River

Riverside dining They recommend booking at Brasserie on the River, and no wonder – the views across the Brisbane River are a real drawcard, and not just for hotel guests at the Stamford which the restaurant is part of. Punters also flock here for the buffet featuring seasonal specials such as king prawns and oysters, cold and hot dishes and two roasts from the carvery along with an extensive dessert selection including Australian cheeses with nuts and dried fruit. There is also an a la carte menu option (dubbed the ‘Irresistible’ and no wonder, with fare such as Mooloolaba king prawns and wagyu beef burger on offer), and the ever-popular ‘Brisbane Morning Tea’ served alfresco on the terrace – all elegance and sophistication with dainty delicacies served on a tiered silver stand. Best dish: Seafood Buffet!
