A la carte choices worked for 2 of our four choices. Sardines came with bland accompaniments. Duck leg excellent but cabbage overpowered. Terrific pate/parfait. Terrific pork belly/crackling pancakes. Excellent wine. Two wait staff who both acted oddly. Unusual service and manner.

Brisbane Street Bistro is where Fidler prepares contemporary fresh food in a relaxed environment. From live oysters split to order from St Helens’ Lease 65, to dairy-cream and cheese from Meander Valley, this bistro only uses the finest ingredients. In just five years, Brisbane Street Bistro has attained awards for “Best Informal Dining”, “Best European Restaurant 2011”, and “Best European Restaurant 2012”, “Best European Restaurant 2013”, "Best Stand-Alone Restaurant 2015 and “Best Front of House 2012” from the Tasmanian Hospitality Association. Not a bad effort. Best dish: smoked mussel and chorizo croquette, chilli pickled vegetables and saffron mayonnaise with a glass of Pinot Noir.
