Great food. I'm French and Buvette has created a menu that's both delicious and fun, yet not pretentious. Having some of the French staple items on the menu really helped, and their vegetarian options are also amazing. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the food is excellent, service is great which makes it all definitely worth the money.

Food was great, we had the oysters and charcuterie (for 1) to share between us, and the salmon and the duck as mains, both delicious. Service is slow, maybe just on the night, although we overheard another table complaining to staff about the same, was 40 minutes before we even saw out entree but the food went some way to make up for that.

They forgot to serve the side dish and dessert took forever to the point I had to check if it was forgotten. Overall the quality was good. Not a fan of asparagus being served up with the white bit on the base. The duck breast serving was way too small (actual meat equivalent to less than 2 fish finger sizing). Dessert was definitely the highlight as it consistently is. Top quality flavour combinations and very well done.

Pricey but classy, with generous serves of food. My Fork rewards discount was a big help.

Nice ambiance and very friendly staff. The mix grill is highly recommended. Wine list is impressive. Underwhelmed with the plating, a tissue was placed underneath the sauce server and chips. Dessert needs improvement, someone tried to change the recipe. Overall, still worth a visit if you have no other choice. Or maybe go to a bar or a pub to get a reasonably priced meal.

About Buvette Bistro & Wine Bar

More than a drinking hole Making a statement as much more than ‘a hotel restaurant’ Buvette is making waves on the Canberra dining scene with their beautiful French fare. Using fresh, quality ingredients to deliver seasonal menus showcasing the best of locally sourced produce, the menu spans from shared plates, charcuterie and appetisers to grills, all day dining and decadent desserts. In the sophisticated setting filled with lots of timber, marble, vaulted surfaces and glass, this airy space has a traditional Parisian feel. Raised in Northern France, Executive Chef, Fabien Wagno takes culinary cues from timeless dishes of the classic French bistro. His food is not fussy and flavours are bold. Translating to ‘drinking hole’ in English, Buvette is far more than just a drinking hole - it’s a place of good food, great wine, excellent service and incredible atmosphere. Best dish: hand rolled gnocchi - smoked cream sauce, almonds, mushroom fricassee
