We had the most excellent and enjoyable dinner. The restaurant and especially the owner makes you really feel welcome and at home. But please do not expect a typical restaurant experience. Simply go with the flow and enjoy the hospitality at Casas do Bragal.

Excellent meal, good service, great recommendations for drink pairings. It has a lot of character and a very engaged chef/owner for whom the restaurant is clearly a labour of love. Highly recommended, will definitely return next time we are in Coimbra.

As always, it was an excellent meal in a very special place.

Having booked a table via FORK we were surprised that when we arrived a couple of minutes late the restaurant was closed. We were late due to the poor signage and unusual location of the restaurant. However once invited in after tapping on the door the very friendly (Albert Einstein look-a-like) host made us feel extremely welcome. We both enjoyed the quirky interior and the very homely feel to the dining room. The starters were really nice and the sweets were fantastic (the best we have had in Portugal). The only disappointment was that my lamb was over cooked as I expected it to come pink in a 'gastronomic restaurant'. I'm sure had I asked it would have been perfect so I feel a little mean on my rating. The service was excellent and the background music very good.
