About Chalmers Corner

Tap In And Savour In recent year’s Redfern has shaken off its rather dubious shackles and is starting to emerge as an exciting and innovative food hub. Enter from stage left: Tapeo Café and Tapas Wine Bar. Tapeo takes its name from the leisurely Spanish custom of savouring food, drinks and company from a number of establishments. Tapeo’s rather unique Spanish fare pays homage to Redfern’s eclectic café scene. Mornings kick off with a substantial menu largely featuring organic bread and free range eggs before meandering into the midday salad, sandwich and hot food offerings. The cosy daytime café vibe gives way to a funky tapas bar once the sun goes down. And believe it, this place is all about the tapas. Delicious garlic prawns dripping in chocolate (yes you heard correctly - chocolate), orange and chilli; barramundi balls smothered in a Moroccan spicy sauce; and chorizo in apple cider. This place does serious food seriously well. If you are out in the inner west any time soon, then Tapeo Café and Tapas Wine Bar is a must visit. Best dish: Tunisian patties, Jerusalem artichoke and olive oil
