I initially came to the restaurant as I thought it was a typical steak venue. I was a little taken back by the menu as it had things I wouldn’t otherwise order. It turned out to be amazing! It was a hybrid of unique spices, figs and delicacy meats from around Australia. It’s a very unique experience and I would definitely do it again!
Fantastic service - welcoming warm and informative about the menu . Every course absolutely first class - so well designed and presented - so flavoursome and lovely portions . A wonderful experience .
We visited charcoal lane last night for a birthday dinner and were very intrigued by the place and were not disappointed! The service was lovely, the show was ran by just two staff who made us feel very welcome. We are both vegetarian but were curious to try the walliby, emu and croc which we did and it was all beautifully presented, tasty, delicate where necessary and fulfilling also. A must do experience for sure and worth the price! Thanks so much to the lovely lady who served us despite our somewhat silly questions :)
Chose for my birthday dinner,loved every morsel we didn’t Just eat we dined. Friends were very envious when we described our meal on Facebook. We look forward to returning with friends and working our way through the rest of the menu.
The place is great. We loved the food, the service and the cocktails! The Southside cocktail was a hit. (all 3 of them :)). If you want to try something a bit different, we would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful atmosphere. Great service - excellent balance between explaining the food and helping us through the menu and letting be to catch up with one another. FANTASTIC FOOD - we all got different things and it was amazing.
We went a week post COVID lockdown so the diners were well spaced out, however the restaurant still felt very warm. The service was absolutely incredible and our waiter was so fun and personable. Food was beautifully cooked and presented. Highly recommend the emu fillet.

Loved the ambience and service although room temp setting on a nice balmy warm evening was a bit low - didn’t need to feel cool! Imaginative menu and food combinations, and great to see inclusion of native plants, fruits and seeds in nearly all dishes. Although flavours were excellent and the meats were cooked very nicely, I felt both the wallaby and emu were slightly stringy; probably more a feature of the game itself.
Stunning AUSTRALIAN food in a welcoming environment and great location with amazing staff and a sensational chef. We will be back gain and again.
This is my second visit to charcoal lane and the experience was just as good as the first. Top service, knowledge of the menu and food was A1. Will keep coming back.
The food and service were wonderful. Incredible flavours and presentation. Nice to have a meal where everything is a bit different (but a real delight!) from what you're used to. Couldn't fault it! Already making plans for another visit!

wish I could be more positive. perhaps I ordered poorly (I hope that is all it was) but my polenta dish looked unappetising and tasted pretty damn awful
A gastronomical experience. All the details are well attended to and the quality impeccable. Couldn't ask for better presentation, service, atmosphere or food--with a message and for a cause.
