Thoroughly enjoyed our meals, it was my birthday and the sparkler on my dessert was very cute. The welcome and all staff were friendly and helpful. Comfortable seating and only one small thing is the noise level, sometimes hard to hear each other. We will be back though.
Out of my expectation, the taste of food was not excellent but average. One of their waitresses was little impatient while the other was super friendly and warm-hearted.
We had a nice meal at Chez Olivier - the staff were very friendly and knowledgable about the dishes. Our mains were pretty good, but the desserts were probably our favourite aspect of the meal. You could spend a lovely evening over a few courses here.
We were massive fans of this establishment when it was called A la bouffe as both service and food were exemplary. I don't thing we ever had to flag down one of the wait staff. Last night was our first time in to the restaurant since it changed hands earlier this year. Food was fabulous though menu was more limited than what we were used to & our favourite dishes (lobster ravioli, nicoise salad) were gone. Service was great when we got attention but getting attention was a challenge at times. Except for placing of our order, we had to flag down the wait staff rather than them looking out for people needing assistance or service. No doubt this was due to the limited number of wait staff who were run off their feet. Maybe the restauranteur needs to put on additional wait staff when the restaurant is heavily booked.
One of our favorite restaurants in the neighborhood but just had one of those off nights. Great food. Horrible service. Hopefully this is a bug rather than a feature.
Fantastic food, great service. I am already looking forward to my next visit.
Had a really nice experience table was great staff very friendly and informative nothing was too much trouble. Food was yummy will definitely visit next time in melbourne. Would recommend it (try the snails yum).
Special event to celebrate with my husband. First visit here. good French restaurant with French front of house. We really enjoyed our meal here. Traditional French fare well cooked and presented.
Simple food, executed brilliantly. Rich French classics, charming service. Everything was cooked to perfection. Portion sizes were spot on. Very approachable wine list.
Excellent French restaurant with wonderful food, service and atmosphere.
Great food, had a very tasty duck and entrees were also spot on. Food took a little long to come but didn’t mind as food was delicious.
It was a bit nosiy as there was a big table next to us but food and service were amazing.
The highlight of our night at Chez Olivier was the food. Well presented, temperature right and flavones perfect. The service was also of a high standard - appropriate and not overbearing.
Everything about the dinner was excellent ... the food, the service, the wine, the atmosphere ... I am very much looking forward to returning to work my way through the rest of the menu ... a great find
The food and wine were delicious. I felt the staff were always rushed and flat out due to the two evening settings.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.Every bite was delicious.Look forward to returning.
A very enjoyable dinner in a great atmosphere
Quality of the food was very good. The dishes were well put together with complimentary flavours and the steak was perfectly cooked....Well done to the kitchen. Service was very good. The restaurant was informed that it was a special dinner for an international guest. So, it was disappointing that a special table, although requested, was not provided. The restaurant did not have our first two choices of wine, that was listed on their wine list. Therefore, we had to go with the third option. Unfortunately, it was a very hot evening, the first 34 degree day for the year...Despite the waiter trying his best with the air-condition, upstairs remained uncomfortably hot.
Wine much course menu was great.
Food is brilliant

Can’t go wrong!
Whether you feel like a crisp, light lunch in the dining area, or a fully-fledged and committed degustation with the end result of sinking into a large lounge afterwards, you can enjoy the ambience that is Chez Olivier. It is one of the loveliest French restaurants in town. Here you will find traditional dishes such as escargot– snails cooked in garlic – or a beautiful goats’ cheese salad. But whilst they use traditional French recipes, they also like to use exclusively Australian ingredients and in a style that is their own interpretation of what it is to be Australian. Here the sophisticated and caring staff urge you to thoroughly read the menu and take your time in ordering. And you will not be disappointed when the food arrives. Pop in for one of their well-loved Duck and Pinot nights on a Wednesday, or even speak with them about having your next work or social event here under the guidance of their function staff. Their wine list is smart, their staff even smarter and the food is of the very highest quality.
