Excellent
The food and service were great. The atmosphere was cosy. Will definitely be back.
Great little restaurant, service was really good as was the food. The food was prompt and staff were pretty good and knowledgeable about the food. Overall a good experience.
Our first visit since the restaurant has changed location..... still delicious food and friendly service but personally I don't like the ambiance of the new place .
Pleased to eat here again after lockdown. Food still super but wines served at room temp which is shocking when you’re paying $18 a glass for the best pour on offer. Why do restaurant staff know so little about wine and not seem to be that fussed when you complain. Really should have sent it back
For a couple who loves French cuisine, we have dined in a few French restaurants in other places and countries. So far, the food that was served to us tonight was flawless in terms of taste, temperature and serving size. The staff were friendly but in a professional way, patient and helpful. We highly recommend Chez Olivier for anyone who loves great food, good service and getting value for what you paid for. We’re going back to try the Crepe Suzette. Thank you
Loved it! Relaxed but attentive service. Delicious food. Will be back!
We’ll definitely be back!
Excellent French fare, good wine list, friendly service.
Overpriced fixed menu. Wasn’t aware of this when hooking.
Friendly staffs but no one will ask How was your meal? Is everything ok? We ordered the Canard L’orange and the duck was way over cooked. The onion soup was very salty.
Wonderful food, lovely ambiance, excellent service. Proportions are perfect and the quality is superb. We will definitely be regulars at this place.
The online booking process was smooth. The waiters were all very nice and pleasant to deal with but knew very little about the wine menu. The food was ok but did not meet my expectations for the price (and for the rating of the place ). The ambience was terrible. Apparently the restaurant has changed location. The photos in google maps are from the old place. The new place looks run down and shabby.
I recommend the seafood soup. The main dish duck was disappointed, the sauce was too sweet, the meat was dry and tough.
Excellent French restaurant!
Fabulous French cuisine- hard to beat and extensive menu!
Great food, service was mostly great, one person seemed to want to be elsewhere. I don't know why I need to write 120 characters here, bit it is required.
Wait staff needed training. Almost felt like someone was pulled off the street to wait the table. Drinks were served as DIY pour yourself a glass of beer. Plates were plonked onto the table off balance. Food was served with shell plate on top of it, expecting the customer to lift an extremely hot plate with no napkins. Cutlery missing from table etc. Will not be returning.
Love this place so much that we have been twice since lockdown! Every dish has been excellent and service has been attentive. We always order too much because everything is good but we never regret it!
We have been going to other great French restaurants in Melbourne. So we were looking forward to try Chez Olivier. We ordered oyster with champagne and leek, escargot, charcuterie plate, confit duck, tournados beef with prosciutto and foie gras. The baguette were very skinny so it did not have enough soft chewy textured bread inside the hard crust and butter was ordinary. Entree were ok. Steak was good, cooked to perfection with nice potato mash and jus. Confit duck was a big disappointment. Duck was dry, so bland and tasteless in conparison to other restaurants. When we finished our meals, the bill came to $214, so we slipped in $220 in the bill folder on our table and left. 5 minutes later, I got a call from the manager of the restaurant saying we have not paid our bill. We said that we paid it on the table. She just said ok, without any apology then or after. We were puzzled of why she did not check the bill at the table before calling us. This is very unprofessional and embarrassing. We will not be back in a hurry. We have better food and service elsewhere in Melbourne.

Can’t go wrong!
Whether you feel like a crisp, light lunch in the dining area, or a fully-fledged and committed degustation with the end result of sinking into a large lounge afterwards, you can enjoy the ambience that is Chez Olivier. It is one of the loveliest French restaurants in town. Here you will find traditional dishes such as escargot– snails cooked in garlic – or a beautiful goats’ cheese salad. But whilst they use traditional French recipes, they also like to use exclusively Australian ingredients and in a style that is their own interpretation of what it is to be Australian. Here the sophisticated and caring staff urge you to thoroughly read the menu and take your time in ordering. And you will not be disappointed when the food arrives. Pop in for one of their well-loved Duck and Pinot nights on a Wednesday, or even speak with them about having your next work or social event here under the guidance of their function staff. Their wine list is smart, their staff even smarter and the food is of the very highest quality.
