Great food, had a very tasty duck and entrees were also spot on. Food took a little long to come but didn’t mind as food was delicious.

The highlight of our night at Chez Olivier was the food. Well presented, temperature right and flavones perfect. The service was also of a high standard - appropriate and not overbearing.

Everything about the dinner was excellent ... the food, the service, the wine, the atmosphere ... I am very much looking forward to returning to work my way through the rest of the menu ... a great find

Much noisier than the old Olivier and I would suggest going at off peak

Lovely French food with a lovely and intimate ambience and great service. Jazz music in the background would have been icing on the cake for atmosphere.

I love this restaurant. Have visited for years, although one of my friends complained about the duck a l'orange (too dry) and the waiter wasn't too attentive (I think he was new)... overall food was good and ambience is great. I'd recommend it anyways and will come back again.

One of the best French bistros is Melbourne. Steak was superbly cooked, tender and juicy, entrees were spot on and service was authentic and attentive. Dessert not perfect but still enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Exceptional. At $244 for 3 people and 3 courses, unbelievable value. I would have paid $500. It was worth that.

The restaurant has moved location and both of us (separately) went to the old location. I now see in The Fork’s confirmation that the new address is printed, but I think there should be a big online banner stressing change of location.

About the restaurant

Can’t go wrong!

Whether you feel like a crisp, light lunch in the dining area, or a fully-fledged and committed degustation with the end result of sinking into a large lounge afterwards, you can enjoy the ambience that is Chez Olivier. It is one of the loveliest French restaurants in town. Here you will find traditional dishes such as escargot– snails cooked in garlic – or a beautiful goats’ cheese salad. But whilst they use traditional French recipes, they also like to use exclusively Australian ingredients and in a style that is their own interpretation of what it is to be Australian. Here the sophisticated and caring staff urge you to thoroughly read the menu and take your time in ordering. And you will not be disappointed when the food arrives. Pop in for one of their well-loved Duck and Pinot nights on a Wednesday, or even speak with them about having your next work or social event here under the guidance of their function staff. Their wine list is smart, their staff even smarter and the food is of the very highest quality.
