The legend of this little restaurant continues. When everyone else follows trends, this place stays true to its roots and sets its own. Rich in tradition, richer in flavour.

We went on a Scoopon deal, but were never treated like “Voucher people”. It’s a restaurant that we have wanted to try and we were not disappointed. Philippe is a very attentive host and loves his work. The concise menu is very good and covers a lot. Overall a nice little find.

The scallop entree was delish. The beef cheeks as tender as could be. The lapin was disappointing. The serving was of four or five small, tough legs plus I had to constantly pick out tiny slivers of bone while eating them. Unfortunately, the meal was tepid too. The vegetable side was perfect. The chocolate tower dessert was great, but the rhubarb and apple tart unappetizing.

We had to go up these terribly steep stairs which is a health hazard plus they only had a choice of lemonade and coke and percolated coffee. The main advertising said a 3 course meal and only when we read further down did we realise that we had to share an entree and a maximum price of $26.90 main meal leaving a very minimal choice of meals.

Steaks were over done. Brains were a little bland and too sour.

About the restaurant

Bonjour Dimmi diners and bienvenue to Chez Pascal, Sans Souci’s own little piece of Paris. Here Chef Philippe Lebreux and his son Pascal have created a French-style haven that has Francofiles going weak at the knees, with a menu stuffed full of everything from escargot to boeuf bourguignonne. Come and try their signature braised Ox cheek that is melt-in-your-mouth-good, and you can’t possibly leave without sampling their crepe normande which comes soaked with apple brandy.

But wait... just when you thought you had made up your mind, the specials board will blow you away with even more choice and variety of produce! You can also BYO your own drinks, which is something of a rarity these days and always great fun.

Step inside this quaint French Bistro and be transported to the other side of the globe where the service is on point, the food is delicious and the atmosphere warm and welcoming!

Best dish: Joue de Boeuf (Ox Cheek)
