Walked past so many times and never went in. Was lovely atmosphere, even given the current restrictions. Staff welcoming, food was nice, great menu with lots of options. The chili crab was delicious. We’ll be back to try a few more things off the menu as a lot of what we initially wanted was sold out or not available.

Staff were amazing and helpful, however we found the food slightly disappointing with some spices underutilised in some dishes and overused in others. As we were entertaining a business colleague from overseas, I cannot recommend it for business dinners. But would be perfect for a group of friends enjoying a night out in the city.

Love this place! Third visit. Delicious super fresh seafood. Stingray sambal and cuttlefish superb. Great atmosphere. Unpretentious, casual dining. Can't wait to go again.

Lots of tasty dishes to chose from. Staff friendly, and musicians playing added to the atmosphere. Spicy halloumi. And a baked eggplant dish were excellent

Pleasant tapas styled restaurant on Hardware Lane. Seating inside and out. Good menu choices and specials on blackboard we were invited to peruse. Live music at weekends and daily happy hour and aperitif hour with free tapas. Worth a visit

The food at the claypots in st Kilda and South Melbourne were better.the dishes seemed rushed. Our grilled prawns were burnt and squid ink pasta was bland. The chilli oil of the grilled prawns was really good and our scallops were good too.

Our waitress was terrible but the other staff members were great. It was a cosy place to settle down for a meal and the food and wine exceeded my expectations. Very nice atmosphere!

Excellent food and friendly service. Was expecting middle eastern flavours going into the dinner but was (pleasantly) surprised at the strong influence of Thai and Vietnamese flavours that went into each dish. Favourite dish was the swordfish. The chilli crab is great-be prepared to get your hands dirty though. Only slight criticism is that the food took quite a while to come out.

Great atmosphere with live music and staff very friendly, but my colleague's portion of the Kingfish cutlet was so paltry and small I gave him half of my dish. I was so embarrassed because I chose the location based on current reviews. My Fish Plate was comprised of small whole fish that didn't have much taste and I spent a lot of time 'fishing' bones out of my mouth. It was interesting to note that all other eateries in Hardware Lane were overflowing, whereas Claypots was not - it may be the locals know something I didn't! Although we are both on diets, we decided to have dessert to fill in our tummies. The desserts were good as was the Turkish coffee - they only type of coffee they serve.

Entree should have been served on 2 x separate plates as they were 2 x separate orders I was waiting for mine to come but didn't get it due to both orders on one plate so mine got eaten did they tell us? No did they offer to replace my entree? No bad business should have still given me my entree but no offer made

While the food was fresh and well cooked, 3 dishes I ordered were not available, even though we were the only group of 8 in the restaurant. This could have been conveyed at the beginning of ordering.

Had the meze plate for entree which was not worth $18. The barramundi wings tasted good except that it was way too salty. If less salt, it would have been perfect. The swordfish dish was also good but too salty.
