Fabulous
We made a last minute booking at this restaurant for New Year's Eve. The food and service was good, the only negative was the background music was quite loud which made it difficult to talk however this may have been because it was new years eve and may not be the usual ambience. We will go again.
New Years Eve 2020. I ordered them fish n chips and it was excellent. My choice of wine was Pinot Gris and it was exquisite. I found the Staff to be friendly & welcoming. Will definitely come back.
On arrival I was told that I had selected a rooftop table exposed to the elements even though that option did not exist on the app. The menu was totally different to the advertised menu. Only basic pub food was available. The staff did try hard to satisfy us and make good but I certainly won’t return.
Fabulous service, good wine, good starters and good mains
Lovely ambience. Brioche pudding for dessert a winner.
Curious night out at the Coppersmith. I booked as the menu was interesting, relatively small (big menus generally mean lower quality), and the reviews were very good. Our experience was very mixed.... Our food was dreadful, over 4 plates, I wouldn’t recommend any of them - we eat way better at home. But rather than focus on the food, I’d like to comment on the service & management. We were seated quickly, our server was friendly, and the ambience and decor were pretty promising. While bland starters were followed by awful mains, our server asked us for our feedback on why our plates were still full, and soon after the manageress came over to talk to us. She explained that the kitchen staff were new, and following our feedback, she promptly removed the mains from our bill. We didn’t ask or expect this. What I would say is that we all have bad days, and it’s how you manage them that counts. Here, the manager did absolutely everything correctly - spoke with the customer, and did her best to mitigate. Perhaps we had a bad kitchen day, and we would thank the staff for trying their best to send us home happy, and wish them well in the future. Resolve the food standard issues, and the Coppersmith could be a fantastic place.
Good service, good food, good ambience:
For our first meal out after lockdown, it was very nice. The rooftop was a great way to spend Melbourne Cup Day. The staff was lovely and very accommodating. My only complaint was that with the dessert the flourless chocolate cake was supposed to come with pistachio ice cream. I thought the potion of the slice of cake was half the size I would have expected for a dessert and it was served with thickened cream and not ice cream which I think should have been advised before being served.
This was the first time we had gone out since lockdown. Food and service were superb. Coppersmith never disappoints and we’re delighted they’re back open again.
A new menu with lots of great options have improved this place alot. Definitely will be going back. The Harissa chicken was delicious. Wait staff were also great.
A lovely restaurant and bar. Great food and atmosphere and an awesome wine list. Would definitely come back. Highly recommended the duck.....
New menu is reasonably priced and excellent quality
Came for the $25 steak night - was very impressed. Steak really well cooked, good wine.

Excellent service. The market fish was not bad.
Great service and food was fantastic.
Our team enjoyed a celebration dinner here last night, based on recommendations from a client of ours. We were thrilled to find such an awesome place in the South Melbourne community. Food, drinks and service were faultless! We will be back!

A hotel for locals too
The once rundown Cricket Club Hotel has been beautifully transformed into a stylish boutique hotel complete with fifteen rooms, a stylish bar, intimate bistro and a stunning rooftop deck overlooking Albert Park Lake and the city. It’s a place for locals as well as hotel guests, so don’t be deterred by the word ‘hotel’. Owners George Bagios and his dad Con want people to come, eat and enjoy all that they have to offer - and stay the night if they so desire. The bar has eighteen beer taps featuring some of the best craft beers from Australia, a thoughtful wine list and there’s food options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At Coppersmith they are all about the simple things done well. Dine at the bar or in the intimate bistro fitted out with parquetry floors, pale wood-clad walls, sleek pendant lights, sparkling white tables, dark leather banquettes and black bentwood chairs. The menu tips its hat to traditional pub food, prepared with quality fresh produce, sourced locally wherever possible. This is a killer spot to eat, play and stay.
Best dish: Duck, fish pie and Flatiron steak
