Meet the Chef

Consistency and classic cooking are the hallmarks of Greg Favretto's cooking. Greg started as an apprentice in the 80's at Swains, an Adelaide premier seafood restaurant renowned for its silver service and lavish dishes. After moving around and working up the ranks, he settled into his role as Head Chef at The Cork and Cleaver and has been for over 20 years. Greg keeps up with international cooking trends by travelling to markets, restaurants and eateries around the globe.

    One thing that really impressed was that while there was a mistake made with one meal, it was rectified immediately and without any issue. It felt like the staff genuinely cared a lot about how your meal went.

    An old favourite. My 'go to' place for a good steak. Stratos is always there to cheerfully greet and show us to our table. The steaks were cooked to our liking. The service was prompt but not intrusive.

    As usual, service and ambience were wonderful. Treated like an old friend. BUT the chateaubriand was not up to their usual high standard - which was disappointing as I had invited a guest for the sole purpose of introducing them to the restaurant, and introducing them to chateaubriand.

    I found the interior dated, they were happy to say they were celebrating 41 years the interior has not changed in that time. The service was terrible, the staff didn't engage at all, in fact the desert menu was just thrown on the table without any comments as to what was the specialty, if two people are eating, wouldn't you have two bits of corn on the cob in the vegetable bowl? My wife and I are both in the customers service industry, and found that there was none. It is local to us and and when you have other places close by you look for a go to restaurant, sad to say this will not be one of those for us.

Share a delicious Chateau Briand if you want to spoil yourselves and know that you are in a place that so many before have loved and held dear. Best dish: Aged Scotch Fillet
