We went on a day where there were no wontons or noodles. Apparently their machine had broken down. This was actually good in a way so that we could try different dishes. I must say the crumbed chicken was crispy and well seasoned however the meat used was very uneven and some pieces had just crumbled skin. It’s not what I expected it to be. The egg fried rice, hot sour soup, prawn pancake, steamed dessert buns were yummy as usual. Staff were very apologetic about the limited menu. Service here is very very good compared to other Chinese restaurants.

I booked my table through the folk (even received a confirmation email) however the restaurant wasn't aware of my booking! Luckily I could get a table but if this booking system is NOT recognized by the restaurant then what's the point booking through your website!! Very disappointed! I would rather give a call to the restaurant directly!

Love the venue, with air con and soft relaxing jazzy music. Food was very good, normally $$ as you're paying for atmosphere, but 50% off is awesome!

3W: Delicious, Fast, Good experience The service was fast. Food was delicious as always (they also have new menu), we had Xiao Long Bao (must try if you haven't so), spicy noodle with chicken is also great, spicyness is not too spicy and give distinct flavor, aroma and numb sensation. The place has nice ambience, music and lighting. Overall, had good experience.

I’m a huge fan of DTF, have been to several branches in Taipei, Singapore, China and now in Melbourne. It does not disappoint. Beautiful Xiao Long Bao. All other dumplings delicious too, as well as beef and prawn. Tried the dessert this time it was good too.

The staff lied about not having a seat available by the window as requested in the booking even though I saw multiple empty seats upon walking in. Service was not as good as the other branches. Food was average, at 50% off it was good value.

Good service. The stand out would have to be the fried rice, fried chicken and the lava mochi dessert.

Delicious food - soup dumplings a must as well as stir fry beans, prawns with pineapple. Staff - some were friendly, some were not. From desk didn’t know how to handle a ‘the fork’ Booking.

Din Tai Fung. Easily recognised as that Dumpling restaurant. Having won a Michelin star for their Xiao loong bao soup dumplings overseas the standard here is maintained. The menu has changed since the place first opened some eight years ago. Some changes good, some changes we would like reversed! The Xiao Loong Bao dumplings are the signature dish of the place and don’t disappoint. For those in the know it is the parcels of ultra thin pastry hiding an explosion of flavor with the soup inside. Every dumpling weighed and folded with precision. The good dishes here are the xlb, prawn slice, dan dan noodles and more, just to name a few. The down side they used to have rainbow dumplings with flavors such as cheese, seafood, salad and crab roe dumplings, mango ice dessert and a few other dishes. These have long since bid farewell however I would consider them as signature staple dishes of the restaurant. Please bring them back! Dishes are a good size, dumplings with ultra thin pastry to allow you to quickly break it open and slurp the soup inside. Noodles also top notch so long as you remember to mix them immediately before they become set! Fried chicken a regular winner with its dry crispy outer coating and juicy meat inside, truffle oil fried rice - a unique and tasty combination of east meets west! Many people I have heard are not happy with the price however you are paying for quality and consistency of products compared to some other places that may end up being marginally cheaper. Service was a little non responsive requiring a few times to flag down a wait staff however once we had their attention requests were quickly actioned. The restaurant has kept up very high cleanliness standards so everything is spotless. You can see the kitchen from glass windows of your xlbs and other dumplings being made and the bathrooms are also very clean. Overall a great place to visit. Just wishing they would bring back some old favorites!

We normally go this restaurant anyways without discounts. This time we had 50% off and the quality was the same. We’ve Din Tai Fung in various locations and this one is up there with the best ones.

The soup broth of the dumpling noodles soup tasted floury. The crispy chilli chicken dish we ordered came in chunks of different sizes. It ranged from nuggets of fried dough only to huge chunks with chicken and dough. The vegetables wasn't stir fried but rather blanched and sprinkled with fried garlic. The Golden Taro Bread tasted frozen. Overall, it was quite a disappointing experience. We expected better quality food from them. Or perhaps we ordered the wrong dishes?

The food at Din Tai Fung is reliably good. The atmosphere is a little staid and service was slow, though this was perhaps unsurprising as it was quite busy when we went. Good for a casual dinner.

About the restaurant

Dumpling destination

The Emporium is so hot right now - especially with Din Tai Fung in the building. That’s right. dumpling devotees gather round because the renowned dumpling house has set up comfortably on the fourth floor of the popular shopping centre, accommodating 235 die-hard dumpling fans in the large venue. How many folds does the signature xiao long bao soup dumpling have? 1, 2, 3, 4? Wrong. There are 18 folds in this bad boy, each one folded with mathematical precision. It’s a work of art, not simply a dumpring. Bring your friends and family and get ready for a full on feast. Din Tai Fung dumpling style.
