We haven’t been in years but we’re extremely happy! What a wonderful lunch outdoors. We will definitely be back. Thank you
We love Turkish food. It is a usual for us since we visited Turkey. We usually go to near by Turkish kabab shops but wanted to experience the real deal and decided to try Efendy for a Sunday lunch. We were excited that they do a 48 per person set menu as this will allow us to get a feel of how good they are. After all the reviews of this place are great and it Is run by a master chef judge. Boy were we disappointed. I think the food is no better than what you find in any local street corner kabab shop. The Adana kabab was the toughest I have had. The mangal special is 2 chicken wings spiced with salt and red pepper. Same goes for Chicken thigh. Couldn’t differentiate between them. Warm bread came out to be cold tough bread. The only thing good is the location and venue.
Very friendly staff. Nice Turkish food and original ambience.
Amazing food. Outstanding service. Great atmosphere. I really recommend this restaurant.
I ordered lamb kebabs with lavish bread. I was served the wrong dish and had to wait another 29 minutes fir the right meal. What I was then served was 5 slices of lamb over half a toasted tortilla. There were no accompaniments. All for $36! At least I was served a complimentary salad. Very disappointing since I half enjoyed their breakfasts.
Old favourite. Turkish with a modern twist
Great food, nice spot. Unfortunately the staff were a little abrupt, forgot table settings and we had to ask for the dessert menu after waiting 20 minutes.
Delicious as always ! The food is great quality and I love the ambience. Only wish the seating wasn’t so short.
We had the banquet. The food was tasty, our server lovely. There was a big gap between entrees and mains, and a few dips on our menu were not brought out. Overall pleasant and I’d return but would prefer timing between meals be tightened up.
Loved the ambiance, food and smiling faces of the team at Efendy. We had the Efendy Feast and every dish was delicious. The haloumi and chicken dishes were the standouts for me. Cocktails were a little pricy and the fig one didn't blow my hair back, but the Turkish Syrah ($52) was a very nice drop and went well with our meal. Will definitely be back!
The food was excellent, The restaurant itself looks a bit bare. No I don't need to add anything else. Why you insist on writing 120 characters? Doesn't make sense!
Awesome restaurant definetly go back again
Great food and experience ????
Nice looking restaurant, can imagine it would be even better on a warmer day. Food was average though- best dish was the ramadan bread we had, service was good.
We enjoyed the food. Many interesting flavours and we really enjoyed the lahmacun, haloumi and the beetroot labneh.
I heard that this is a great restaurant and I wasn’t disappointed. Food was amazing and staff are helpful and friendly. With these uncertain times and social distancing staff remained professional and super friendly. They offered Turkish bread and amazing lentil soup for locals for a donation. The soup was as good for lunch as dinner was the night before. I don’t know if they do take away but I’ll surely be back when I can.
Beautiful venue with some great food matched with really good service. I would highly recommend this place for its food selection. Look forward to the kunefe!
Great food and great atmosphere. This was our first time at Efendy, and the staff were very helpful recommending the right amount of dishes as well as advising exactly what each dish was. Perfect choices, and the lamb was particularly tasty. Dishes were served at just the right times, we weren’t rushed and had a great evening chatting with friends with good food and wine. I’d recommend Efendy for a great night out.
As usual the food was excellent. We had a baby and they organised a high chair and space for the pram. The staff at Efendy are always friendly and welcoming. Our go to restaurant for special occasions
All the food was so flavourful and delicious! Highly recommend for trying something new! We loved the bread and eggplant dip. The sauv Blanc from Turkey was amazing and well priced!

Young Turks Efendy may mean “gentleman” in old Turkish but there’s nothing old-fashioned about this Balmain stalwart run by chef Somer Sivrioglu, with wife Asli and brother-in-law Fatih Kulle running front-of-house. Fitting then that the broader definition, according to the website, is someone ‘with a traditional upbringing who adopts modern views’. That’s the approach Sivrioglu brings to both the menu which showcases five centuries of regional Turkish recipes to which he has added his personal, contemporary touch, while making the most of the finest local produce. Efendy’s seasonal menu is designed to share, or you can choose to go for their signature Anatolian Feast which features some of the restaurant’s more popular dishes including charcoal- smoked eggplant babaganush and lamb testicles with pistachio chilli and almond tarator. Sivrioglu makes frequent trips back to Turkey to keep up to date with what’s happening in the mother country, and has even published his own cookbook – ‘Anatolia’ – if you want to try out any of these delicacies at home. Efendy’s breakfast was voted the city’s best in the 2014 SMH Good Food Guide, and no wonder: their ‘Van’ style breakfast menu includes freshly-baked pide, an array of cheeses, jams such as cherry, rose and fig, along with hot dishes such as Menemen eggs, sujuk spicy sausages, cigar borek and pachanga borek. Their drinks menu also hits the spot with options such as homemade lemonade with muddled pomegranate or mint, or for the more adventurous, Ayran, a salty yoghurt drink. If you’re after something a little more alcoholic to accompany breakfast, lunch or dinner, why not try a Narosa – sparkling wine, pomegranate and Pama pomegranate liqueur or a Vishnosa – Sparkling wine, vodka marinated sour cherries and cherry juice. As they say in Turkey – Afiyet olsun (Enjoy your meal)! Best dish: kaygana-melted kashar cheese with carob molasses and walnuts
