To start the space was definitely not fine dining. Noisey room, difficult to have a conversation across the table. The food was good not great. Prices were higher than what the quality of the food reflected. On the other hand the wine from Adina estate that was served was very good!

All variations to the menu we requested were perfectly provided. Nothing seemed to phase them., The only negative is the polished floor can echo with a full restaurant; but only minor really. Liked the Adina wines on the list and would have liked some more local wines.

Very understated restaurant however the food was all really delicious and flavoursome. Octopus cooked with paprika and butter, Mushroom risotto and Mahi Mahi cooked in brown butter sultanas and topped with almond flakes were stand outs. We loved it and would recommend to our friends and family.

menu was simple with good variety of choice. Risotto was well cooked with good flavor. wines by glass/bottle on pricy side for the Hunter Valley. Service was good without being overbearing. Sitting outside in autumn weather added to the experience.

An excellent restaurant with a long term reputation to uphold. Emerson is very friendly & his waitress is very thoughtful & willing to assist as required. Without a doubt one of the best restaurants in the Hunter Valley! I recommend it to my friends. Food is always superior.

The food was lovely and we were happy with the meals, service, restaurant etc. When we looked up the restaurant and it's menu online we saw a very different menu to the one we were given which was slightly disappointing as we all looked forward to certain dishes. Food was still lovely though.

The food was exceptional. Karaage Chicken entree is delicious as was the Dick Pâté. Stand out dishes were the Boullibaise, Suckling pig and the cauliflower side. Venue is a little noisy as it’s too open. They could also add a small kids menu but otherwise fantastic food.

The steak was one of the chewiest I've had in recent memory, It was sent back but came out just as tough and slightly more pink (unnoticeable). There was no kids menu offered. For the kids, we ordered the Chicken karage, which supposedly tasted good; however, were ordered as a main size even though it was for six and ten-year-old girls—charged $38 each for chicken karage. Other patrons offered kids options who were even older than our kids. Staff had no clue what they were doing. Overall this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in the last five years and definitely the worst ever at the hunter valley, and I've been going up there for close to a decade.

Food was excellent with a nice setting outside In summer I’d definitely recommend inside due to flies A few little one percent things brought down the score but the food was that good I’d definitely go back

Wonderful food. We had the banquet and the chef should be commended. Every dish was delicious. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. While our group was probably a little too loud, the room seemed to echo and amplify the noise of everyone in there, making it hard to hear sometimes. That was my only complaint though. I would definitely return.

Meals are quite large so I think next visit we will do the menu as if they were designed to be share plates. Very rarely do we ever let good food win, on this occasion we did. Food was lovely just wished we had paced ourselves!! ????

The food as always was amazing..... will always return, relaxed feel can eat fantastic food without having to dress to the nines. When on a relaxing weekend just want to breeze in after a long day out, eat and drink well and go back to the accommodation and relax. Enjoyed the whole experience.

About the restaurant

Wining and dining

Few restaurants are as perfectly situated as the gorgeous Emerson’s Café and Restaurant. Located in the heart of the Hunter Valley, surrounded by acres of vineyards, this charming establishment is one of the best places to go in the area for a beautiful meal in a beautiful setting. Go for lunch and ask for a table out on the verandah so you can embrace the full experience of an alfresco meal. Order up some lovely wine (you’re in the Hunter Valley, after all) then tuck into some of chef Emerson Rodriguez’s divine creations. Nibble on some spiced pumpkin fritters that come with a mint yoghurt dipping sauce, twirl your way through a bowl of fresh seafood spaghettini with garlic and chilli or dig right into some slow cooked lamb shoulder with orecchiette and spinach. If you have the time (and the appetite) you should definitely consider trying the chef’s degustation menu. While lunch sittings make the most of the beautiful outdoor setting, breakfast and dinner at Emerson’s are just as good.
