We have been coming to Emerson’s whenever we are in the Hunter for the past 5 years and this dining experience had been so disappointing where all our other previous visits were a stand out. Kids chicken schnitzel was very very tough. They replaced the meal but still not much better. The rest of the meals were very average for the price you pay. It would be nice to see Emerson’s get back to the way they used to be.

I’m not sure why they were open because it sure didn’t feel like they wanted us there. We had to go and ask for our our drink and then food and then coffee order to be taken. We even moved outside to have our coffee as they didn’t take our plates away and the flies inside the restaurant were disgusting. The menu was limited and they had run out of 2 of the mains by 1pm. I will never be going back.

Lovely place with some great food. Only thing is that this restaurant does not accept Amex cards whereas fork has them Listed as a restaurant which welcomes Amex.

Service was terrible, the table was not even set for when we arrived and the waitress was running around trying to find a drinks menu. When we asked for a children's menu we were told " I think we have snitzel and chips but I will check". We waited 1 hour for our mains and the fish was overcooked and the lamb pie runny. Mothers day was ruined and we will not be back and advise our friends not to go to this restaurant also.

The worst service I have ever encountered. 30 minutes for menus, another 30 minutes to come back - had to ask for drinks menu. One entrée arrived, second one had to be asked for, turned up wrong. One main never arrived.

Hard to hear people in group due to buzzing noise from everywhere. Feels like there is an echo in the room. Service was pleasant.

About Emerson's Cafe and Restaurant

Wining and dining Few restaurants are as perfectly situated as the gorgeous Emerson’s Café and Restaurant. Located in the heart of the Hunter Valley, surrounded by acres of vineyards, this charming establishment is one of the best places to go in the area for a beautiful meal in a beautiful setting. Go for lunch and ask for a table out on the verandah so you can embrace the full experience of an alfresco meal. Order up some lovely wine (you’re in the Hunter Valley, after all) then tuck into some of chef Emerson Rodriguez’s divine creations. Nibble on some spiced pumpkin fritters that come with a mint yoghurt dipping sauce, twirl your way through a bowl of fresh seafood spaghettini with garlic and chilli or dig right into some slow cooked lamb shoulder with orecchiette and spinach. If you have the time (and the appetite) you should definitely consider trying the chef’s degustation menu. While lunch sittings make the most of the beautiful outdoor setting, breakfast and dinner at Emerson’s are just as good. Best dish: venison carpaccio
