We had to wait a while to be greeted when we arrived. Once greeted staff were very helpful. The food was great if you didn't have any dietary requirements. We had 2 vegans in our group and there were limited options for them. A side of vegetables and chips is not a meal. Another person in our party has allergies and staff also found difficulties helping them. This is disappointing as most places we go make an effort to feed all people regardless of their dietary requirements.

I was looking forward to my Grilled Miso salmon. For $27.00 I got over cooked salmon with no miso flavor, 2 asparagus spears with luke warm soft potato and the beetroot puree lacked zing. Honestly I could have cooked better myself at home. As Manu would say where is the sauce. If the potato is grilled it needs to be crispy and hot. Add a bit of fresh dill and yoghurt to the beetroot puree and it will make a huge difference. Smear the Miso on the soft side of the salmon flesh just before coming off the heat and that saltiness will be perfect.

Very friendly staff who helped me take my tables drinks back from bar, ordering was painless and meals served in good time. Staff very concerned about my son (who became sick) and offered ice and towel.

The hotel has a children's play area that has a carousel but it only operates at very limited times. It seems curious that they would not have it operating regularly on the school holidays. We had 5 children in our group and they were extremely disappointed. We were there for 3 hours and the carousel sat still and unattended for the whole time.

Food was as ordered when it arrived. Slow for mains. Had to go up twice to check on desserts. Group of 12 with no children seated at the door to kids area.

About the restaurant

Merry-Go-Round Madness

Bring your family along to the Everton Park Hotel to experience what this fantastic Northside pub is all about. With a large Childrens Play center on site, why not grab a table in the outside courtyard to see the sheer delight on your childrens faces. The Merry-Go-Round is sure to get them spinning with laughter! If you’d prefer to dine indoors, don’t worry because there is a closed circuit tv inside so you can always monitor what your little ones are up to.

The steaks on the a la carte menu are the crowd favourite, and we know why! The high quality grain fed and grass fed beef is served with salad and straight cut chips or a baked potato with sour cream. You also have the option of adding one of seven different sauces. We love the cafe dé Paris butter and recommend adding some roast field mushrooms on the side!

Best dish: Eye fillet steak with a side of roast field mushrooms
