A really exciting experience. Watching the food preparation and the care taken in presentation added to the tastes and aromas of the food. The wines accompanying the degustation were excellent. A restaurant very well recommended.
The food was delicious. Everything we ordered was creative, delicious and clean. The cocktails and wine list was well curated. Very interesting wines. Sommelier was very helpful and pleasant. The dinner was great.
A wonderful venue with fine attentive service and food to match. Promptly served fine fresh produce aged beef was cooked well and tasted great Only critique is the wine is somewhat expensive in comparison to other restaurants of similar standing and genre
This is a must try restaurant. The food is beautifully prepared and presented, the service is impeccable, and the entire experience a delight. The combination of food, smoke and fire delight the palate. Servings are generous and I love how they timed the serving of each dish. Simply could not fault anything. And of course the 169 day old rib eye was worth every cent. Try it, you'll love it.
I dined with 3 others and we were all very impressed with the food. We ordered the set menu and our favourites were the kangaroo/macadamia bun, smoked tomato and scotch beef. I had my 2 year old toddler with me and the staff were very friendly. The bar tender was amazing - he kept my toddler entertained and offered him fruit and pineapple juice, which he loved.
Was a great experience. The 2nd time for us to be here but still love to come for more! Excellent food and service. They even remember our 1st visit a year ago. Thanks team.
Very good Quality of food - wonderful wines
Didn’t live up to the hype. Food was ok but nothing special considering how much you pay for the meal. The main thing was that it was so incredibly hot inside the restaurant, every table fanning themselves to cool down, making it very uncomfortable and the experience not enjoyable. The staff did well even though - they too were dripping with sweat.
I have been wanting to visit Firedoor for the longest time having heard so many good things. The atmosphere was great, the service was attentive. We ordered a variety of dishes - bread, marron, pipis, quail and waygu ... while I appreciate the mastery behind the open flame cooking technique, I thought the flavours fell a little flat. The prices were a bit dear for the portion size but it come to be expected from these kind of restaurants. Highlight of the night was the cultured butter with the bread ... wish they came as complimentary instead of having to pay $8. But, considering how much the other dishes cost, it was the best money spent for the night.
The moment we walked through the sliding door (great gimmick btw!) we instantly knew ‘this is going to be really good!’ From the atmosphere to the food the experience was nothing short of amazing. Thank you for a memorable experience. We will be back!
Very overpriced and food doesn't deliver for that type of prices
Wonderful restaurant! The food was excellent with fresh seafood and a lot of choice on the menu. Friendly, warm service as well. Looking forward to our next visit already.
Highlights were the bread and petit fours making a flavourful start and finish. The dish of cucumber, melon, ham and ricotta was nicely balanced. Unfortunately the padron peppers were moderately bitter- and that was it, lamb just above average but with flavourful garnishes and our pineapple dessert with pineapple that was not particularly caramelised and rather sour, but with pineapple skin ice cream that was deliciously smooth.
Absolutely delicious food, wonderful service & attentive & professional service .. the barramundi was cooked to perfection! I will be definitely returning.
Not a lot to add to previous experiences at Firedoor where food has been varied, interesting and top quality. Had the Chef’s menu this time and it was excellent
Food was quite satisfying - pipis and lamb good with the dry aged beef being the highlight. Service was friendly, efficient and helpful and the atmosphere vibrant.
Was looking forward to dining at Firedoor. Unfortunately some dishes were standout and a couple were very average. Service was slow and inattentive. Lovely space, ambience and wine list.
Fine but a bit over-priced & too much trying to up-sell
It was our first time at Fire Door and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a cocktail before hand and then opted for 'à la carte' menu and every dish was simply fantastic
This place is awesome. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. As a single diner I was offered half serves which is fantastic. The Head Chef was happy to answer questions as this place only uses wood to cook with which is very different to other restaurants. I had a really lovely time and would highly recommend visiting Firedoor.
23-33 Mary Street, 2010, Surry Hills, Australia
Where there’s smoke there’s fire… and fantastic food. Each day, the team at Firedoor assemble a carefully chosen collection of wood and set it alight, ready to cook your meal to order. Their focus is on bringing you high quality, local ingredients in their purest form.
Set in Sydney’s trendy Surry Hills, the two custom-made wood-fired ovens sit in an open kitchen to showcase the theatrics of cooking on open flames. And don’t be thinking it’s all about the steak, the Firedoor menu is brimming with seafood and unique vegetarian options, like artichokes with pangrattato. With an ever-changing menu, the only guarantee is that your food will definitely be cooked with fire.
