Arnie Josue

Arnie Josue is Australian raised and Filipino born, with a career working in prestigious restaurants across the world. From The Botanica to Quay, Arnie also called Dublin home for three years and travelled to Beijing and Shanghai, heading up the a la carte kitchen in the Beijing Olympics and the Swiss Pavilion at The World Expo. After working in Singapore he returned home to Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel, displaying contemporary European and Asian techniques and the generosity that it’s renowned for.

The perfect balance between local pub and restaurant! Service was spot on with lots of small touches that make a dining experience above average. We tried steak night - they were perfectly cooked. Our entrée was also delicious. Great selection of wines by the glass. Definitely a new favourite local for me!

We really enjoyed our food and the atmosphere was terrific. However, the service of our waitress was very ordinary. Whilst she was friendly, we felt abandoned by her and had to ask for service.

Service was terrible ordered a entree and it never came. Took over 2 hours to get just a main meal. Was never offered deserts or coffee. Glasses were often empty during visit

Have eaten here many times over the years and loved it. Not cheap but worth it. Service very attentive. My only issue was with the lighting and the ability to read the menu. This may be because of where we were seated in the corner with no above lighting but it could also be a sign of aging eyes.

Hightail it to the Town Hall Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel is a place everybody would like to have as their local. Chef/proprietor Sean Donovan (ex-Station Hotel Footscray, Wayside Inn South Melbourne and Botanical South Yarra) has created a no nonsense gastropub with a menu featuring contemporary European bistro classics, freshly shucked oysters, an impressive selection of steaks, charcuterie and counter meals. Private dining is also available in the wine cellar downstairs and there is a beautiful room with a balcony upstairs available that seats seventy. Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel is a local pub where cold beer, excellent food, wine and service is paramount, it's the perfect place to relax with friends in a warm and welcoming environment. This is gastropub dining at its very best. Best dish: 600g Great Southern grass fed Chateaubriand, Bordelaise (for 2).
