Upscale Cantonese with impeccable service. Study the menu before you go and do ask your server/s guidance and you will be well rewarded. Unhurried dinner with always alert but not stuffy table attendance. Very extensive menu. Mixture of dim sum and other items which were elegantly divided at table side service. Quiet lane off bustling Chinatown. Definitely a special occasion/client type of place.

The seasoning of the seafood roll is bit heavy for our liking. the crisp skin chicken is not the usual good standard.

Went in for a pre-theatre meal. The herbal soup was not as flavoursome as expected. The gravy was bit thick & salty for the fried noodles with pork.

I had wanted to go to the Flower Drum for decades! I considered it a "got to do it once in your lifetime" thing to do. We had the most wonderful time. The food was amazing, the service wonderful. Enthusiastic and genuine staff. Before we left, our "once in a lifetime" idea had changed to "we'll be back!" You have to have the Toffee Apple dessert, just to watch it being prepared. Thank you Flower Drum.

best Chinese restaurant in Melbourne

Authentic Cantonese cuisine in opulent yet non-pretentious atmosphere - friendly and attentive service staff more than happy to assist with meal & wine choices plus made the effort to know our names and the dining occasion. Expensive yet value for money given the standard of food & service.

Outstanding food & staff. Am not a regular here & yet ALL condiments presented together w dishes made me feel as if they knew exactly what I wanted. Not a fan of confined resto BUT this is a ONE of A KIND that it does not matter where it is, ones still want to find it. Wld b amazing if they consider having a sister resto in Sydney. Many thanx Flower Drum

About Flower Drum

The complete Cantonese package.. In China, 'Flower Drum' is known as a traditional dance famous for its beauty and elegance. In Melbourne, it’s a similar story. ‘Flower Drum’ is a Chinese restaurant that displays the same elements of refinement and delicacy through their concept of fine dining Cantonese cuisine and dedicated service. Put simply, it’s a complete Cantonese package: the service is second to none, the food - well it’s outstanding and the classical dining room is thick with a ripe sense of occasion. Enjoy Cantonese classics such as duck wontons or fall-apart honey-braised pork ribs that come with two essential accompaniments – rice and a finger bowl. Native produce shines in dishes such as stir-fried pearl meat and the luscious, complex wallaby tail soup with wolfberries and yam, while the heavy-hitting wine list drips with prestige. Restaurants come - and some of them go, but none play exactly the same role as this one does. Best dish: fall-apart honey-braised pork ribs
