I chose here to take a friend for brunch and chose the charcuterie plate. I rang the day before asking if it was enough for two and advised it was. When it came out it was barely a tasting plate, let alone a charcuterie plate. We didn’t even bother eating it all as there was very little on there and very little nice things to choose from. I was so disappointed and wasn’t asked if we enjoyed it, perhaps they already knew the answer. Rey expense too for what you got. 1 mini pickled onion, 1 mini gherkin, etc etc. we waited 15 mins before I eventually got up and asked to be served. Would not recommend and won’t be going back.

Service was great, all the ladies who served us were very friendly. Great atmosphere, food was delicious. Original video was definitely our favourite!! And perfect spot on the verandah for us and our dog to spend the afternoon!

Service was great to start with, all staff members were polite and attentive, but once you got your food they never came back to check up us, so one of the guys had to wave for attention to get another drink. The menu was over complicated but once you deciphered it and ordered, the food that came out was really good. A lot of food of the menu was also locally sourced which I think is fantastic. The venue is quiet large and had a great environment inside and out. Props also to the live music, the singer on actually had a nice voice.

We loved the location. Once a staff member was able to seat us ( three said they would be with us shortly, before one actually took us to our table ) they were great. So the location, the venue itself and the staff were great, but honestly, the food wasn’t made or prepared by a chef. We had a charcuterie board with breads. The pate was liver wurst off the shelf from a supermarket and not much of it. There was a tiny sliver of cheese, picked cauliflower, salami - probably also from Coles, pancetta ( that was nice).... a weird, runny ‘quince’ gel and a tiny piece of chicken terrine and some picked onions from a jar and some supermarket Dijon mustard. Strange. Three breads. The white was supermarket, day old bread and the other two were wholemeal and rye, also supermarket bread. We had dessert. The ‘rocky road’ mousse with peanut butter marshmallows was........... different. The vegan macaroons looked delightful, but were rock hard and so sweet. They were accompanied by a lavender gel ..... or liquid soap.... not sure. I’d love to try a mainstream meal there, but today’s fare was a fail. Sorry guys, you look great but didn’t deliver.

a lovely afternoon - excellent food, marvelous service and a gorgeous setting. we nabbed a table outside after a late cancellation and our waiter was very patient with our indecisive ordering and our somewhat fussy children. food was great, esp dessert, really exquisite lime-basic tart with toasted coconut and the macarons. excellent quality, everyone was happy. we will be back, for sure.

The initial service was very good, drinks and first course. No one came back to our table after first course plates were cleared. We waited 20 minutes for sweets and coffee menu back none arrived so we paid and left. As you will see from my scores I have been fair overall but a little disappointed as this was a birthday celebration. I intend that these comments be helpful not discouraging as we would recommend your venue to others based on our previous experience.

Had a great experience at The Flying Brick! All waiters were lovely and friendly, the food was presented well and tasted delicious. Good sized mains. My hubby and I enjoyed experimenting with the paddle of ciders... didn’t disappoint! Over all we had a great time and were very happy with everything. Would recommend!

Very disappointed with the service and the meals today. We waited almost an hour and 20 minutes for the food to come out, and that was only after we asked a waitress to find out how much longer as we had to be elsewhere. The chicken was cold, pork belly over cooked and the other meals were not that enjoyable either. The table service was also lacking today. Waitress would deliver drinks and basically run off without giving us the opportunity to order more. Left the venue feeling disappointed and will be a while before we venture there again if ever.

About the restaurant

Flying Brick Cider finds a home

Named after owner Lindsay Sharp’s favourite bird, Flying Brick has become one of Australia’s favourite boutique ciders - and now, the cider brand has its very own home in Wallington. Now cider lovers can come and enjoy great food, listen to live music on Friday nights, enjoy wine, beer - and of course, drinnk plenty of Flying Brick cider. The retro-inspired building on the Bellarine Highway is an innovative space with an alfresco lawn area and plenty of places to plonk down with a tasting paddle. At the helm of the kitchen is colourful culinary personality Dwayne Bourke who brings his serious talent and years of experience to Flying Brick Cider House. Bourke uses apples in various forms of his menu including oysters with shallot and cider vinegar dressing, mussels with cider, applewood-smoked duck breast and an ever-popular tarte tatin. This is the perfect place for a daytrip - just don’t be the designated driver.

Best dish: oysters with shallot and cider vinegar dressing
