Did not expect but the decor reminded me of Paris restaurants. Great for all occasions. Great food too.

This was a great find the food duck was superb and the bread was so good. The place had no parking which is the only downfall. The supervisor never smiles. Best French restaurant

Very nice food. Just a bit disappointed with the brand served: I thought it could have been a little more French.

The flounder was not fully cooked through. There was a pink area in the middle behind the head.

We ordered the set menu. Happy with all the dishes, although the crepes was too citrus for me. However the ambience, service and rest of the dishes was great!!

The restaurant is in a superb location, great vibe. Staff attentive and know the French cuisine. Very knowledgeable of the wine list to help with right regional wine to suit the meal. Only disappointment was the sirloin used for the Steak Frittes was chewy and with little taste- maybe a bit young. Will go back.

Gavroche welcomes you with a moodily lit, traditional bistro style dining room. The menu reads well. Chairs were not the most comfortable though. Food was pretty good. The brioche bread was seemingly home made, soft and served warm and went well with the whipped butter. Snails had the requisite garlic flavour, quenelles were light and fluffy with a seafood bisque flavour, onglet steak was lovely with a subtle Beaujolais jus, mussels in parsley and garlic were wonderfully tasty, with the mussels themselves the fluffiest and fullest I've had. Try throwing a handful of the fries in the broth. Very nice. Desserts were hit and miss. Paris Brest was very nice with a light hazelnut cream, and wonderful fluffy and slightly caramelized choux pastry. Lemon tart is basically an over tart lemon meringue with ab powdery base and the chocolate fantasy was a disaster. Looked like 3 puddles of mess on a plate with bits of brownie chucked in. Unidentifiable and lacklustre flavours. Coffee is good. Wine list could be better by the glass but Wines served were good. The problem. THE SERVICE. The brioche came between entree and main and without a knife or side plates. A mussels pot was brought to us, then he realised it was the wrong table and apologised and took it to the next table. The raviole I ordered ran out so I needed to make another choice. The wait for the main was about 90 minutes which is why I just ate the onglet steak, even though I ordered a Steak Frites! Crepe Suzette had also run out. The waiter, though nice, looked flustered and like a deer in headlights and made the night feel chaotic, even pouring water into my daughter's lemonade. Again we just let it go. Prices are steep so this service bis just not acceptable. I mentioned the steak error to the host and asked him to ensure I was charged the onglet price as it was cheaper. He apologized and removed the price altogether that was a nice gesture which I appreciated. There's potential here but not realised this time.

Food is amazing! The restaurant itself is nicely set up with booths, high-top tables, a bicycle and some art nouveau prints. Most of the smaller tables are next to the windows looking down on busy Kensington St but if you're nearer to the bar prepare for the staff to rush past you for your stay and you're mostly left to your own devices where you will likely need to wait until your plates are taken or food is delivered to order more drinks. If in a larger group though you'll be fine. Wine list is a good range from France and Australia, definitely need to try a Champagne - it's worth every cent.

Lovely area and building. Staff was slow to take order, cauliflower soup was great, shrimp wonton ravioli was not cooked through, rubber like. Had to ask for the bread, which was stall. Wine list was excellent,

It was one of my favourite restaurant but recently the food and the service went sadly bad. The fish we got was not fresh, they changed the cooking style and the service was not close to amicable.

Attention to detail was lovely with French music and a real French feel throughout the restaurant, the food was stunning with the flavours exactly what I was hoping for.

A beautiful French bistro. Food and service as good as the ambience of the setting. Some great French reds by the glass. Will be back to further explore the menu

Great atmosphere, good service but quite expensive for the food quality. Some dishes were overcooked, others undercooked but all nicely presented and served. Small but expensive wine list of mostly French wines.

Delicious food, favourites were the onion soup, pate and escargot. For mains the steak frites was the best, duck confit was nice but the mash was a bit too salty for my tastes. Prices were as expected for this kind of food. Excellent service by the staff, although the wait for food was a bit longer than expected. Would definitely come back.

I had dinner with my family at Gavroche. We had a great time, staff service is pleasant, and food is excellent. We particularly love the dish of Sole Meunière and the dessert of lemon meringue.

Fantastic French food and always great service. Been here a few times now and we keep coming back for the mussels. Vibe is also really chill, especially if you go on a weeknight.
