Nice atmosphere however it was very noisy and we struggled to be able to hear each other at our table. One of the waiters closed the full length windows and found him self stuck between the window and our booth table. He then proceeded to climb over the back of our booth chairs to get out. Mains were ok but a bit pricy for the standard of the food. We did not receive our sides until everyone had already finished their mains.

We had a group booking and would have been better seated at a table. The booths are not big enough for 10 people. The service was excellent and the food interesting and enjoyable. The wine was lovely. The music was definitely chosen for a younger age group and was quite loud, but on the whole it was a very pleasant experience.

Our Work Christmas party was held at George Banks on the 4 December 2018. We had booked a table for 7 pm and arrived earlier for pre-dinner drinks. There was only 1-2 bar staff on and it took a long time to be served. There were a number of cocktails that were unable to be made as the Establishment did not have the ingredients required for the cocktails. At one stage the female bartender said to me "I have to wait until the things I need to make the cocktail are brought out to me". She waited. We waited. She then said "well looks like I'll just have to get it myself". We waited until she brought back the ingredients required to make one cocktail. We had 5 different cocktails - all of which did not taste good or like they should. When asked about certain wines on the menu the bartender advised "they didn't know anything about them". While we were sitting near the bar having drinks, the male bar tender sprayed us with champagne twice and did not apologise. The first champagne bottle he opened sprayed that much that the lady buying it refused to pay for it, the bartender proceeded to open another bottle and did the same thing again. The empty bottles were thrown that hard into the bin that it stopped our conversation – each and every time. This also occurred during our meal. The sliding doors were shut during the course of the night, with the staff member not shutting it properly - the wind blew the door opened and nearly hit the back of one of us and we were worried the glass was going to shatter given the force in which it slammed open. When were seated at our table by 7 pm for dinner. By 7.30 pm we still had not been waited on and no menus provided. We had to request this ourselves. We then waited a further 20 minutes and no one came to take our order. We made 4 attempts to get the attention of staff and the manager - without success. We had to go up to the register and ask for orders to be taken. The music was that loud (and inappropriate for the setting) that we could not hear each other talk and the waiters had to yell down the table for us to hear anything. The food was served within a reasonable time, however ALL dishes were cold. The food was cooked well, however were stone cold. The staff were clearly not trained - with the manager having to teach one of the waitresses how to open a bottle of corked wine - at the table. We then went to pay and the girl who was taking our payments was VERY rude. All of this made comment on this. Lastly, as we were leaving the establishment, we looked into the area that the chefs cook (as it is glass and you can see through) and there were chefs sitting on the bench where food was getting prepped - not a good look and not the most hygienic way to prepare food. It's a shame, as the establishment has great potential - however given what you pay, there is an expectation that there are adequate staff on the night and these staff are trained in fine dining. I won't be recommending to anyone, as the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

It was a hot day and as it is a rooftop bar there is no air-conditioning. Service was not good - they definitely missed out on extra drink sales. Food was good though. They just seem a bit all over the place - need to nail the processes and the service more.

The concept and the atmosphere at George Banks was lovely. They have done a fantastic job of the fit out and it has been well thought out. The good was good, well presented and well prepared. The drinks menu wS extensive. My wine wax delivered to the table in a dirty glass. Staff responded well and this can happen anywhere. There is definitely staffing problems. There was a lot of staff standing around talking loudly with very little regard to the customers. There were times when I felt like we were encroaching on the staff to have our meal delivered to the table, minus the correct cutlery. There was one staff member yelling out instructions across the dinning room. Customers do not care about the details of the table settings. Hope this gets sorted would like to see this continue for Toowoomba
