Main courses were served warm and not hot. Took two bottles of wine but despite the high corkage charged we received poor wine service. No offer of decanting. Not asked if we wanted our second bottle opened, it was just poured. No one asked whether our meals were ok or not.

George's has always been an Adelaide CBD favourite with the last dining experience some 8-12 months ago. However last night's experience was our very first let down. The food wasn't as good as it has been before - flavours didn't complement one another and no dish generated any overly pleasing or impressed reactions from any of our group. The salon needed something tart or a herb to lift it, the pasta was overly salty, the first vegetable/cheese dish just wasn't nice, and the dessert was standard and the sesame cake I left on the plate. It's never been like this. It was also disappointing that we were asked to order our bottle of wine before being shown the menu and advised we could get wine pairings with the tasting menu. Service was great.

A distinctly Mediterranean menu takes advantage of seasonal fare with beautiful delights such as chicken liver parfait, port gel, cornichons, house made brioche. Open ravioli of blue swimmer crab, fennel, chilli, beurre blanc. Our signature dish Lamb Press, pancetta, nectarine & plum jam, white bean puree and to finish – Loukoumades (Greek doughnuts) pistachio, walnuts, cinnamon, Attiki honey ice-cream – sensational!
