Very disappointed there was no king crab last night because that was the only reason we went to Golden Century especially when i asked if they had king crab when i booked earlier that day, The food we had was nice but very expensive for what it was, the service staff were a little too pushy on arrival wanting our order as soon as we were seated and not giving you time to look at the menu there were 4 of them hoovering around waiting for the order which was a little awkward and made us rush our order. Such a shame because we have been looking forward to dining there for years. We will try another venue for crab in the future.
Amazing food and service . I’d go back again
The food was quite delicious. We had dumplings then combination noodles. The deep fried duck in plum sauce had a bit too much batter for our liking.
Food is always amazing there but considering the price tag, I’d think the meal was over rated! First, I booked through MyFork then I called to confirm, they’ve got my booking time messed up then when we got there, table was not ready and they also got number of people messed up! Anyway, no complaint with the food but it’s the other elements that makes the meal over rated! We paid $15 for a very ordinary diluted tea! Service was below average definitely do not live up to a $110pp price tag! They’ve also cut down desserts to minimal, though better than non-existent!
Great food, the service was not really....good
The food here was so fresh but didn’t take forever to come out. The staff were all so helpful and were very attentive. Great seafood selection and great options in menu
Great yum cha. Freshly cooked dim sum and very authentic. Space out the tables, staffs followed the Covid safe make me feel confident to dine out during this pandemic. Highly recommended to anyone.
Golden century is my go to favourite Cantonese style restaurant. It was Excellent as usual with a price to match! I always go for the live seafood, fried rice, black pepper beef, tofu hotpot.
Golden Century is one of Sydney’s best restaurants and also one of the best in the world. I began eating here in 1987 when I was traveling to Sydney every month. It was great then and has kept up that standard of food and service. It serves Cantonese seafood as its specialty, but also serves as good a Peking Duck as I’ve ever had, including Peking and New York. I’m not partial to vegetables, but their Heavenly Vegetables (stir fried asparagus, snow peas, broccoli and honey beans in a light garlic sauce) is as good as vegetables get.
Definitely the place to come if you want fresh seafood that cook perfectly. Higher price tag compare to other ordinary restaurant but you get nice food and comfortable seating in return.
We’ve been here quite a few times but we haven’t been here for almost a year. It was a special anniversary for us so we decided to return and were happy with the food and service. The lobster was delicious and fresh. We wouldn’t eat it anywhere else. The simple ginger and shallots flavours were perfect. The honey prawns were so tasty also. Highly recommended. It does get loud on Friday nights with the after work crowd but it didn’t bother us.
Food was great. We had crab in ginger and shallot sauce, steamed oysters and XO sauce. Fried rice. All great. Had a pigeon but very dry, not worth the $48 charged for 1 bird. Service was exceptional. We had 2 staff looking after us.
The XO Pipos was so spicy. We had to take it away ..
Best Chinese food in the area. Live seafood is fantastic!
I ordered their favors pipi and fish dishes but I wasn't impressed. Marigold does a better job with the flavorings. Service at Golden century was also not that great. I had to get their attention multiple times to clean the table or get more water
The service wasn’t very friendly to start, we had a reservation and they didn’t seem bothered about it. We ordered 2 entrees and 2 mains. First entree came out, pork spring rolls (had a lot better) then they brought out a main (salt and pepper squid) and the rice. We said we had another entree coming so they took away the main and left the rice, and then brought the 2nd entree, prawn dumplings were nice. Then they brought out both mains but on taking a mouthful of the squid it was cold and had obviously been left sitting from when it was first served. We told 3 different staff before someone said we had to talk to the manager. Told him the story, no apology, paid for the entrees and our drinks and we left. Sorry but not at all impressed...
Great lunch, crab hot pot was delicious!!
Excellent food as usual, don't need a TV in the restaurant, however. Pipis and black bean, salt and pepper squid, beef and pepper sauce were really tasty.
Excellent good and service

A golden feast
When chefs from all over Sydney have finished their service they head to this joint for a midnight meal. In fact, the place is heaving come 2am. These guys specialise in live seafood (think: lobster and mud crab, abalone and pippies usually cooked with ginger and shallots or stir-fried with XO sauce) and banquet-style eating so it’s great for groups and even better when you can split the bill with eight others. Don’t be discouraged by the fact that none of the live seafood comes with a price tag (the ‘market price’ is usually reasonable when you compare it to good quality shellfish available around town). Just eat up and worry about possibly selling a non-vital organ to settle your bill later – the lobster with Sichuan sauce is well worth it.
Best dish: You can’t go past the lobster with garlic and shallots.
