Grand old hotel with nice gazebos outside. Food was well presented and service was good. The only oddity was that you couldn’t order your food and drinks together and thus, pay in one go.
The staff didn’t have my booking
Food pretty ordinary for price. I had a prawn and avo salad which the majority was lettuce. Had 4 prawns, no grapefruit which was one of the ingredients. When we arrived (early than booked) the lass on the counter didn’t know what time lunch started. Lucky we were doing a test run as we were going to take some overseas visitors there but will find somewhere else now
The setting was nice. We would’ve liked instruction whether there was table service. Food was nice and nice music. As my husband is coeliac it would be great if there were a few more gf options especially dessert.
Food was good, friendly service. Nice night out with the boys. The pork spare ribs falls off the bone and prawn spaghetti with thick tomato sauce was delicious. Chow down another bowl of crispy chicken wings with jug of beer and I’m satisfied.
Great ambience. Would be nice if they add more vegetarian options to mains.
We ordered a jug of a Pimms cocktail and when we received it , it had ants floating in it. Then also the chicken parmy was burnt. Utterly disgusting. Will never go back
Food, ambience and service were all great. We loved it and will visit again.
A great find. We were seated in the rotunda overlooking the water. Service was excellent. Salt and Pepper Squid Entee to share, delicious I had King Prawn Spaghetti just the right amount. Husband had the mussels 22 served up in a pot with crunchy sourdough. Overall a great meal.
50% off was great value. However I probably would not want to pay for full price. We ordered the seafood platter and Some are not really fresh. The service was good though
a local Queensland classic good for families. Playground on site is ok but even better to stroll down the slope to the big trees and swings on the waterfront.
Oder got mixed up and so not everyone in the group was served at same time but when food came it was good.
This venue was great , the new owner makes everyone feel very welcome. The food service was fast the quality of the food was excellent the natural oysters were so fresh you could almost hear them screaming when you put the lemon on them . We all had steak all was tender and well presented.
Good food and that Grand view...very enjoyable.
Hotel restaurant was quiet on the Wednesday night hence the offer of 50% off food. Like most hotels drinks were ordered at the bar and food ordered separately. Young man attending to the restaurant was very pleasant. Kilo of mussels were great as was the beef cheeks New owners had taken over the hotel sometime ago but nothing much has changed in dining area - maybe plans are afoot to do something but the whole area is a bit “tired” ????
As the dinner was good last week, we decided to turn up again for another but was quite disappointed with the latest meal. For a start, there was not enough staff. We were told to get a carafe of water ourselves rather than having it brought to the table. This level of service is typical of a pub or the Asian eateries in Sunnybank and not that of a "hotel". The chef must have been a different one from last week. The Seafood Shared Platter while adequate in size was not as well presented as previously. The prawn nuggets on a sugar cane strip which was such an unusual feature was unavailable [the manager acknowledged we should have been told about it.]. More calamari was added instead. Also, we were told that the platters had been prepared earlier on in the day and there is no way anything can be changed. Surely, the chef could be flexible enough to improvise. Well, good chefs do for their patrons! The platter's cold contents were served on a bed of salt which was not there last week and made the prawns and bugs too salty. For some reason, there was a paucity of fruits [just 3 slices each of water and rock melon] and the salad was just one type of green instead of a variety including tomato and cucumber slices. All in all, a rather hit and miss affair last night...
Beautiful setting with cool breeze outside enjoyed fresh seafood hot and cold platters amazing!! Excellent service by the waitresses all checking to see we were enjoying our meals etc definately will be returning.
we have lived in the area for over 18 years and have not been to the Grand View before, it was a very pleasant suprise , garlic bread to share was really tasty! Mains were all of a very high standard , we will definitely return , nice mid week treat!
The seafood here is definitely better than those offered by most of the so-called five starred hotels around the place. The Moreton Bay bugs are tasty for a change instead of the usual tepid water taste of most offerings. The oysters were large, fresh and succulent. And, the medium rare 400 G. QLD KILLARNEY FARMED RIB ON THE BONE was for a change really cooked as requested. It was superb. And. the dishes presented were certainly large enough to stifle any complaint. All in all, this reviewer would have given a an even better rating if the staff had presented finger bowls and and a bowl for the seafood debris.without them having to be requested. The restaurant was not that busy when we turned up. Also, it certainly did not help that a couple was squabbling with foul epithets in the hotel's gardens. They were moved away soon though. To the staff, keep up the good work!
The staff was super welcoming. John and Jo were very friendly and helpful. The GVH burger was very delicious. A must visit in Redland. Easy parking and relaxing atmosphere.
